  • Publication number: 20110100654
Abstract: A vertical tilling implement to be pulled behind and agricultural vehicle having a number of gangs of fluted-concave disc blades, rolling baskets, and wheels connected to a main frame. As the vertical tilling implement is pulled, the fluted-concave disc blades move the soil in a direction lateral to the side of the blades as well as up. Meanwhile, the rolling bars aid in leveling the seedbed and crushing the remaining large pieces of soil. The vertical tilling implement reduces the amount of subsoil compaction and cuts through heavy residue making it ideal for use in the fall or in the spring.

  • Publication number: 20110010314
Abstract: A method and system of tillage and tillage management that includes the steps of establishing a plurality of soil profiles over an area of soil to be cultivated, creating soil map database by combining these soil profiles to establish a treatment and cultivation regime, cultivating the ground in accordance regime and recording the cultivation in the soil map database. A subsoil tool for carrying out the method and system, with a shank (18) connected to a vehicle and to a ripper foot (20) terminating in a ripper tooth (22); a hydraulic ram (26) attached at a lower end to a first pivot connection (28) and at an upper end to an actuator means; the first pivot connection is attached to a rear end of a laterally extending wing member (30), a front end of the wing member being pivotally attached to the shank through a second pivot point (32) and the wing member is selected in accordance with soil profile at any position on a soil map database and is oscillated in response to actuation of the ram.

  • Patent number: 5482121
Abstract: A vibratory cable plow assembly including a frame assembly for connecting a plow blade to a frame of a prime mover. The frame assembly supports a vibrating mechanism or shaker that is adapted to impart vibratory movements to the plow blade. The frame assembly includes a lower support that extends rearwardly from its pivotal connection to the frame of the prime mover. The lower support mounts a blade supporting frame for rocking movement about a generally horizontal pivot mechanism. The blade supporting frame is mounted toward a distal end of the lower support intermediate its free ends and has the plow blade attached to a free end thereof. The vibratory mechanism is mounted on the blade supporting frame. An extendable/retractable driver extends about the lower support and is pivotally connected between the frame of the prime mover and the other free end of the blade supporting frame. An elastomeric bearing assembly isolates the blade supporting frame from transferring vibrations to the prime mover.

  • Patent number: 5398770
Abstract: A chisel cultivator for post-planting cultivation. The cultivator includes a main frame. A chisel member has one end portion coupled to the frame and a second end portion spaced from the first end portion along a longitudinal axis of the chisel member for cultivating sub-surface soil during operation of the cultivator. A heave limiter is coupled to the frame ahead of the chisel member relative to the direction of operation of the chisel cultivator. The chisel member is adjustable relative to the frame to adjust the distance of the second end portion of the chisel member from the frame. A sweep assembly is coupled to the frame behind the chisel member relative to the direction of operation of the chisel cultivator. The sweep assembly includes wings which extend outwardly of a centerline extending in the direction of operation of the chisel cultivator in a plane substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the chisel member.

  • Patent number: 4871027
Abstract: A vibratory plow including a cutter assembly which slices the ground covering and breaks the sod ahead of the cable-laying plow blade. The plow assembly includes a blade holder that is pivotally mounted to a vibrator frame. A mounting member attaches the cutting blade of the cutter assembly to the blade holder. The cutting blade is polygonal in shape and includes a plurality of mounting holes located in polygonal patterns. The mounting member includes a complementary set of mounting holes also arranged in a polygonal pattern. The present construction permits the cutting blade to be moved to a plurality of cutting positions rather than replacing the cutter after a cutting edge is worn.

  • Patent number: 4506739
Abstract: An implement and procedure for reconditioning and aerating turf is disclosed. The implement comprises a frame, a narrow plow member having a concave leading edge with a forward tip depending from the frame, and a pair of narrow blades declining at an angle from the frame and loosely engaging opposite sides of the plow member adjacent its tip. The blades are mounted in a particular manner and are provided with specially-shaped edges designed to provide the desired groove cutting action as the implement is pulled forwardly through the turf. The implement functions to cut and lift slivers of soil and sod and to deposit the same along a groove cut in the turf. Preferably, a series of parallel grooves are formed in the turf in a single pass, the widths and depths being determined by the nature and severity of the reconditioning or aerating problem being treated.

  • Patent number: 4046200
Abstract: A lawn edger attachment for moving vehicles consisting of a rolling coulter blade carried for rotation on a horizontal axis at the rearward end of a trailing arm pivoted at its forward end to the vehicle on a generally vertical axis. Mechanism is provided for pivoting the arm vertically to raise or lower the blade, and also to cause the arm to trail normally at different lateral spacings from the vehicle, although said arm may also be pivoted laterally by manual force. A broom or scraper is also provided, in trailing relation to the blade, for sweeping the cuttings of the blade either to the pavement, or to the grass, adjacent the juncture line between the pavement and the grass.
