  • Publication number: 20130032069
Abstract: An agricultural implement includes a tool bar and at least one row unit carried by the tool bar. Each row unit includes a furrow opener arrangement with a gauge wheel. The gauge wheel includes a rim with an outer periphery and a tire mounted to the outer periphery. The tire includes an outer shell formed from a first resilient material and an inner core formed from a softer second resilient material. The outer shell is positioned radially outward from the inner core and axial outward from axial ends of the inner core. The inner core is mounted directly on the outer periphery of the rim and defines an annular hollow core therein. The tire is structured and arranged such that the softer inner core, the annular hollow core and the harder outer shell coact to provide good wear, good shock absorbance, and good mud shedding capabilities.

  • Patent number: 7163354
Abstract: A work machine, such as a landfill or soil compactor, includes at least one wheel having a plurality of compactor tips. Often, debris or dirt builds up on the wheel between the compactor tips and must be removed. A cleaner finger assembly, including a support member having at least three leg portions and a cleaner finger attached to one of the leg portions is mountable to the work machine. As the wheel rotates, the relatively stationary cleaner finger assembly removes material which would otherwise cause build-up between the compactor tips on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 7044683
Abstract: A stripping device for a soil compacting roller having tamping feet is equipped with a spar on which are provided stripper teeth and an optionally adjustable spar mount which permits readjustment of the stripper teeth on the soil compacting roller. The spar preferably comprises a pipe having a circular cross section and a spar mount and on at least one end having a pair of half shells which surround the pipe and are detachably connected for clamping the pipe in a rotationally fixed and displacement-fixed manner. This permits readjustment of the stripper teeth by a swiveling movement of the spar, which results in a large gap width for removing stripped-off soil material in a small area on which soil material can be deposited.

  • Patent number: 5657707
Abstract: The residue wheel has a plurality of multiply bent spring-steel tines that project outwardly from their central hub at such angles that straight foot portions of the tines engage and lie flatly against the ground as the tines sweep residue rearwardly and outwardly during rotation of the wheel about an axis oblique to the path of travel of the planting machine. The tines are equally spaced about the wheel but are arranged in pairs, comprising individual legs of a generally U-shaped, integral unit having a bight at the inner ends of the the legs that joins the legs together and serves as a means by which the unit can be clamped between opposed, flat plates of the hub. Short downturned driving prongs at the outer ends of the legs provide traction for the wheel during use.

  • Patent number: 5419402
Abstract: A no-till rotary hoe includes trash cutters for cutting field trash carried by the earthworking implements. The rotary hoe also has a walking beam mounted on a support arm with rotary hoe wheels mounted on forward and rear ends of the walking beam. The walking beam is connected to the arm about a pivot positioned to reduce the tendency of the walking beam to pivot excessively in use. A spring is used to aid in maintaining the walking beam properly oriented.

  • Patent number: 5267517
Abstract: A planting, and agri-chemical applicating farming implement for multiple tilling functions. The implement can be deployed in multiple gang configurations. Each gang comprises a frame for coupling the implement to a tow vehicle, a blade depending downwardly from the front of the frame for initially contacting, shaping, and leveling a raised row or bed, means for applying agri-chemicals and seed to soil behind the blade, and multiple spider gangs for vigorously mixing and incorporating agri-chemical, seed, and soil. The spider gangs comprise a first gang of rotatable spiders disposed in a row beneath said frame and journaled for rotation about a first adjustable common axis of rotation, and a second gang of rotatable spiders disposed in a row beneath said frame means and journaled for rotation about a second adjustable common axis of rotation. The first and second axes of rotation preferably form equal and opposite acute angles with respect to the implement's longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 4834581
Abstract: A root cutting cable laying plow adapted for attachment to a tractor is provided. The plow includes a shank having a longitudinal blade formed in the leading edge of a lower portion of the shank and having a flat transverse cutting surface above the blade. A cutter having a sharpened lower end is movable with respect to the shank into engagement with the flat cutting surface by a double acting hydraulic cylinder. The cutter and the cylinder rod move between parallel mounting flanges of the tractor, allowing the hydraulic cylinder itself to be attached to the shank above the mounting flanges.

  • Patent number: 4823884
Abstract: The problem of having dirt and debris stick to the shank of a subsoil plow is solved by providing a non-stick cover body that attaches to a lower portion of the shank and is sized and configured and of a material to which dirt and debris will not adhere. Fasteners in the form of staples insert into holes in laterally spaced tail edge portions is provided. The body is made of a sheet of ultra high molecular weight-polyethylene that is sized, and then bent around a mandril, heated, then cooled and machined as required to be generally complementary with the shape of the lower portion of the shank to which the body is fastened.

  • Patent number: 4523873
Abstract: A vibratory roller is journalled from a frame portion of a vehicle of the compaction-type and the roller includes a generally cylindrical outer face. A plurality of circumferentially extending lug bands are carried by the roller outer surface and are disposed in laterally spaced zones of the outer face spaced longitudinally of the roller and in which diametric planes of the roller lie. The lug bands are comprised of lugs including outer surfaces disposed at least substantially normal to intersecting radii of the roller and generated about the axis of rotation of the roller. • Patent number: 4502547
Abstract: The presence of rank vegetation or loose crop residue on the soil surface (straw, maize stalks etc.) is always troublesome to ploughs, cultivators, seed drills and other agricultural implements required to slice vertically through and penetrate the soil. In the illustrated embodiment of the invention (FIG. 1), the leading edge area of the knife coulter 10 of a seed drill 14 is continually cleared of trash by resilient disc-mounted cleaning members 16-18. The cleaning members comprise springs which have an outwardly positioned elongated section designed to be engaged by the ground or an abutment on the disc support structure to flex each member as the disc on which they are mounted is rotated. On losing contact with the ground or the abutment, each member will, in turn, spring back from a flexed position (member 16) to a relaxed position (member 17). During this spring back movement, the elongated section moves past or along the leading edge of the knife coulter and strikes trash therefrom.
