Group Pivotal About Intermediate Transverse Axis Patents (Class 172/633)
  • Patent number: 8807279
Abstract: A stack-fold implement having a central bulk fill hopper assembly is provided. The bulk fill hopper assembly is mounted to the center frame section of the stack-fold implement and does not affect the narrowness of the stack-fold implement when it's in a stacked, transport position. The hopper assembly includes a pair of bulk fill hoppers or tanks supported by cradle that is in turn supported by a pair of wheels. The cradle is removably coupled to the center frame section by a plurality of rigid frame members. A retractable ladder may be stowed beneath the hopper assembly.

  • Patent number: 6164386
Abstract: A harrow is provided having an elongate tool bar mounted on wheels for movement in a forward direction perpendicular to the tool bar. A plurality of harrow elements are mounted on the tool bar to extend generally rearward therefrom. A pair of support arms are pivotally mounted on the tool bar at a first end and mount each harrow element on a second end towards a rearward end of the harrow element. A hanger is connected between the support arms and the harrow element towards a forward end of the harrow element for suspending the harrow element therefrom. A plurality of tines are mounted on the harrow element such that the angle of the tines relative to the ground may be adjusted. A coupling connects between the hanger and the tines such that the height of the front end of the harrow frame is adjusted in response to tine angle adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4817729
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cultivator having a frame which includes at last one line of hinges with axes transversely disposed to the direction of draft of the cultivator. The portion of the cultivator frame ahead of the front row of hinges is known as the leading tool-carrying frame and carries a row of shanks with cultivator shovels disposed abreast along the length of the leading tool-carrying frame. One or more additional rows of hinges with axes transversely disposed to the direction of draft can be provided in the cultivator frame to the rear of the front row of hinges. The frame-work depending upon and following behind a given row of hinges is known as a following tool-carrying frame. Each following tool-carrying frame also carries a row of cultivator shanks. The provision of each of these rows of hinges with axes transversely to the direction of draft provides an additional degree of freedom for the cultivator frame to conform to knolls or depressions in an agricultural field.

  • Patent number: 4426940
Abstract: A machine for burying slurry, sewage, or other soil-improving fluids has a hollow straight forward-leaning tine which carries at its bottom end an arched, forward-sloping delta-shaped shoe for lifting the soil into the form of a tunnel. The hollow interior of the tine opens through the roof of this shoe, and slurry is delivered through the tine into the cavity under the shoe. A free-running vibrator on the tine vibrates it and the shoe vertically. The tine is resiliently loaded by a spring to its working position, and the reaction of the spring is applied directly to a reaction lever separately pivoted on a subframe carrying the tine. The spring reaction biases the lever downwards, and the lever is supported at its rearward end behind the tine by a roller which closes the slit formed by the tapered leading edge of the tine.

  • Patent number: 4271913
Abstract: The horizontal diagonal angle (z) of the rear frame (16) of an articulated plow (11) is greater than the horizontal diagonal angle (y) of the front frame (14), thus providing a lead angle (x) between the frames (14, 16). This construction reduces the overcut by the plow bottoms (17) that would otherwise occur due to the lateral flexing of the rear frame (16). The lead angle (x) can be adjusted between predetermined minimum and maximum values by moving an eccentric (51) between predetermined positions of pivotal adjustment. The eccentric (51) is part of a pivot joint (33) which together with a pivot joint (32) establishes the transverse pivot axis (31) between the articulated plow sections (12, 13).

  • Patent number: 4266618
Abstract: An articulated plow has a front section 12 supported at its front end by a ground engaging furrow wheel 19, a rear section 13 supported at its rear end by a ground engaging furrow wheel 22, pivot joints 32, 33 interconnecting the diagonally disposed frames 14, 16 of the end-to-end front and rear sections 12, 13 on a transverse articulation axis 31 and central support wheels 23, 24 which contact the ground forwardly of the articulation axis 31 to produce a counter moment acting on the rear section 13 to counteract the tendency of the rear plow bottoms to operate at a reduced plowing depth.

  • Patent number: 4121852
Abstract: A moldboard plow that is made in two sections which are hinged together about a horizontal pivot axis, so that the rear section of the plow can pivot about this horizontal axis relative to the front section to permit the plow to follow ground contours. Such hinged plows are useful where the present day large plow assemblies are utilized. The hinge assembly also includes structure for reducing the overall width of the plow for road transport. The present hinged plow is supported at four support points controlled by hydraulic cylinders connected and controlled to insure that when the plow is lowered into the ground the shares will enter the ground at a favorable angle for penetration.

  • Patent number: 4036306
Abstract: The plow system may carry as many as 10 or 14 individual plow units. All of the units are connected together by a tie rod and may be pivoted in unison relative to a main frame. By pivoting the units, they may be opened or closed to adjust the width of cut between adjacent units over a continuous, wide range. The main articulated frame includes a forward frame section with a main beam inclined relative to the direction of travel of the vehicle, and the rear frame section with a main beam in axial alignment with the main beam of the forward frame section. The forward frame section and rear frame sections are pivotally connected together for rotation about a horizontal axis to permit the system to follow the contour of the ground extending in the direction of travel. The system includes a forward furrow wheel, a rear furrow wheel, and a steerable intermediate support wheel which rides on unplowed ground ahead of the system and is steered as a function of the adjusted position of the plow units.
