Channels are configured in the box back, and conductor rails are positioned in these rails. Common electrical wires, such as are founded in three-strand bundled power lines, can be stripped of their insulation and placed in the rails. The rails, formed of conductive material such as copper, then form an electrical connection within the box. Using this box an electrician can quickly and efficiently bring power to a location during rough assembly. Later, during finish electrical work, the electrician can also plug devices such as switches and plugs into the box. • Patent number: 7569775
Abstract: T-shaped raceway base components are provided of standard length, and the flat back plate portions are scored at intervals. The forwardly projecting web portion of the T-shaped base has a leading edge that defines opposed flanges for receiving cover components, and these covers also mount to the top and bottom marginal edges of the back plate. These marginal edges and the flange defining leading edge provide regions of continuity for the raceway base to give the base sufficient stiffness so the web itself can be slotted at each of the same intervals where the lines of weakening are provided. To sever the base at one of these intervals, the installer can snip these three edge regions of continuity, and flex the base to separate it at a selected interval location. The same concept is used to provide the same advantage for raceway base coupling elements that can be used to join raceway components with gaps therebetween.

The couplers come in several lengths and configurations, to bridge crossing raceway or other obstructions, and to provide continuity in the gaps between the raceway modules. Pre-wired cover components are fitted with spaced outlet devices for installation in areas of a room that require such service.
