  • Publication number: 20130105216
Abstract: An electrical assembly includes a wiring device and an insert clip or attachment member that can be preassembled to provide quick connection to an electrical box, mud ring or other support structure having an aperture with a dimension to receive the clip member. The clip member couples to the mounting screws of the wiring device and is snapped into an aperture or recess in a mud ring. The clip has outwardly projecting tabs engaging the mud ring and inwardly extending tabs engaging the mounting screws. The tabs allow the mounting screws to be pressed into the clip in a sliding manner and allow the clip to snap into the aperture in the mud ring. In another embodiment, the attachment member has a substantially C-shape having an open side that can slide onto a pair of projections on an inner edge of a mud ring for supporting the electrical device.

  • Patent number: 8373990
Abstract: A secure control unit is provided with a completely sealed casing (22) of which at least one wall (24) forms a heat sink. The circuit board provided in the casing (22) is designed such that all of the heat generating components (16-20) which require cooling are located on the lower side of the circuit board (10) and in thermal connection with the heat sink wall (24). Components which do not generate excessive heat are located on the upper side of the circuit board (10). Raised conductive blocks (32-36) couple thermally the components (16-20) to the wall (24). With this arrangement it is not necessary to provide cooling internally of the casing (22) and it is possible nevertheless to use high powered components of the type which are found in modern computers. The casing remains secure and thus suitable for high security applications.

Abstract: When a unit lock member (130) is engaged with a SIM card (220) mounted in a unit retention mechanism (120), a battery pack (210) can be mounted or removed. When the battery pack (210) is removed, the unit lock member (130) is permitted to slide thereby enabling mounting or removing the SIM card (220). Thus, the SIM card (220) cannot be mounted or removed while the battery pack (210) is mounted. Still, the battery pack (210) and the SIM card (220) are separately located in a plane, and hence a terminal main body (110) can be made thinner, and the presence of the SIM card (220) can be confirmed without the need to remove the battery pack (210).

Abstract: An electrical component mounting assembly is disclosed for attaching a cylindrical electrical component (C1) such as capacitor, diode, or resistor to a mounting member such as a printed circuit board in a horizontal or vertical orientation. The mounting assembly can have a housing (12) and a sleeve (14) placed around the electrical component which cooperates with the housing to retain the electrical component to the housing. A substantially inner cylindrical wall (32) of the housing can taper inward from an entrance (34) end to a rear wall (18) to form a tapering or narrowing chamber (30). The sleeve can have a slit that runs along the entire length of the sleeve and a tapered outer surface (28) that cooperates with the tapered chamber to clamp or compress against the electrical component as the sleeve is inserted into the housing. The lack of appreciable expansion of the housing creates a tight friction fit to secure the sleeve to the housing.

Abstract: When an insulator is used in a humid atmosphere, the cooling thereof causes a humidity condensation, which is deposited on the insulator surface. Drops of water formed by the humidity condensation are connected to each other that a water film substantially reducing the insulation resistance of the insulator is formed. In order to solve said problem, the inventive insulator is provided, at least partially, with a hydrophobe surface. In such a way, the water layers formed by condensation are drained off the surface or detached there from without connection and the drops of water produced by condensation are unable to be bound to each other, thereby making it possible to maintain a desired high insulation resistance.
