  • Patent number: 8928627
Abstract: A light sensing circuit using an oxide semiconductor transistor, a method of manufacturing the light sensing circuit, and an optical touch panel including the light sensing circuit. Because the light sensing circuit includes only one light sensor transistor and one switch transistor formed on the same substrate, a structure of the light sensing circuit is simplified. Furthermore, because the light sensor transistor and the switch transistor have the same structure, a method of manufacturing the light sensing circuit is also simplified. Also, since an optical touch panel or an image acquisition apparatus using the light sensing circuit uses the light sensing circuit having a simple structure and does not use a capacitor, the optical touch panel or the image acquisition apparatus may be made thinner and larger.

Abstract: An electronic device and method are provided for rotating an object displayed at or by the device. The object may be an entire displayed region of a display screen, such as a window, frame, or other region or subregion, or a block element or other type of content component such as an image or map. A first input defining a reference point for the object is detected at a first user interface mechanism. After commencement of the detected first input, a second input at a second user interface mechanism, such as a touchscreen display, is detected. In response to the second input, a rotation transformation is applied to the object, the rotation transformation center being defined by the reference point, and the rotation transformation angle being defined by the second input. The object may be displayed by the touchscreen display, or by a display device external to the electronic device.

Abstract: Reducing energy usage by a monitor includes a map manager between a monitor interface and a processor that divides a display area of a monitor into areas and stores display information in a staging area. The map manager distinguishes an active window selected by a user from the remainder inactive, unselected areas of a display, and further determines a used subset of areas within the active window distinguished from the remainder unused areas as a function of a user preference. Accordingly, the map manager drives the monitor at each of the used area active window areas with the processor display information stored in the staging area at a normal luminance specified by the processor display information, and at each of the remainder unused, inactive and unselected areas of the total display area at a reduced luminance lower than the specified normal luminance.
