  • Patent number: 8108101
Abstract: A traveling speed reduction gear lubricating oil cooling device has a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of lubricating oil to be installed outside a wheel mounting sleeve without running the risk of damage to a lubricating oil pump in a cold work environment. A startup operation reference speed lower than a reference speed for normal operation is set so as to ensure that air intake does not occur. A startup operation comparison device compares the speed detected by a speed sensor with the startup operation reference speed. If the detected speed is lower than the startup operation reference speed, a drive motor for the lubricating oil pump is engaged in operation at a speed lower than a normal operation speed. If the detected speed is higher than the startup operation reference speed, the drive motor for the lubricating oil pump is turned off.

  • Patent number: 8056663
Abstract: A hybrid module interconnects an engine and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The hybrid module includes a first carrier, a second carrier, and a first clutch. The first carrier is operatively connected to the DCT and is rotatable about the axis at a first rotational velocity. The second carrier is operatively connected to the engine and is rotatable about the axis at a second rotational velocity. The first clutch surrounds the axis and operatively interconnects the first carrier and the second carrier. The first clutch overruns such that they rotate independently when the first rotational velocity of the first carrier is less than the second rotational velocity of the second carrier. The first clutch also engages and locks rotation of the carriers when the second rotational velocity is equal to the first rotational velocity such that the second carrier drives the rotation of the first carrier about the axis.

Abstract: A bearing lubrication device in a right angle gear reducer includes a gear housing having an interior portion and a lubricating fluid reservoir therein. An oil slinger, rotating pinion shaft, pinion shaft housing, and bearings for supporting the pinion shaft within the pinion shaft housing work together to provide a continuous supply of oil to the bearings. The pinion shaft includes two radially and longitudinally extending passageways therethrough which supply oil from a recess in one end of the pinion shaft to the bearings. Oil is slung from the reservoir into the recess of the rotating pinion shaft where it is forced outwardly and through the passageways to a chamber formed by the rotating pinion shaft, shaft housing and bearings. The roller bearings pump the oil from the chamber back to the fluid reservoir. Oil passageways in the shaft housing enable the return of oil from one bearing set.
