Abstract: Safety barriers such as guardrails, handrails, walkways, and platforms are found in a large variety of industrial commercial, residential and public sites typically consist of an open framework of horizontal, vertical or inclined pipes. However in some cases such open systems do not provide a sufficient barrier to prevent dropped objects such as tools from escaping the confines of the handrail system and creating a hazard. To address this deficiency a system for enclosing a safety barrier has been developed which includes a specially adapted bracket for attachment to posts such as stanchions, hand rails or knee rails and a guard panel which is attached to the bracket and is used to enclose the side walls of the safety barrier to reduce the dropped object hazard. The bracket has an open clipping configuration to allow it to clipped onto the stanchions (or other supports) and left in place.

To advance the assembly section, movable lifts are positioned under the bottom transverse beams of the section.

Abstract: A work platform for a personnel lift includes a floor structure, a safety rail coupled with the floor structure and defining a personnel work area, and a control panel area. A protection envelope surrounds the control panel area and enhances protection for an operator from an obstruction or structure that may constitute a crushing hazard. In one arrangement, the protection envelope includes protection bars on either side of the control panel area extending above the safety rail relative to the floor structure. In another arrangement, the protection envelope includes a platform switch that is configured to trip upon an application of a predetermined force.

  • Patent number: 8511039
Abstract: A safety barrier system for use in constructing multi-storey buildings has elongated safety barrier panels extending upwards from a first floor level a sufficient height to serve as effective safety barriers during the work for the subsequent floor. The panels are supported at their side edges in rails along which the safety barrier panels can slide. The rails are duplexed (siamesed) so as to link the respective safety barrier panels into a continuous peripheral barrier. The respective panels and rails are braced and independently supported, permitting the system elements to be ‘walked’ piecemeal up the face of a structure as required during its erection. Auxiliary barriers supplement the displaced panels, on lower levels, while toe-boards protect the floor-to-panel gap.
