  • Patent number: 7210560
Abstract: A platform structure has at least two articulated platforms that can extend end-to-end to form a bench type arrangement. For ease of portability, the structure includes wheels so that it can be carted when it is in a stow position. The structure can include a detachable canopy frame and a canopy, which provides protection from the element, namely rain, snow, sun, and wind. The canopy can have a camouflaged pattern so that it can blend into the surrounding. When the canopy is camouflaged, the structure is instantly converted into a hunting blind. In addition, a mounting mechanism is provided to mount the platform structure to another structure.

  • Patent number: 7168522
Abstract: A crane mechanism for raising a hunting blind or similar large object up along the side of a tree trunk, the crane using the vertical tree trunk as its support tower. The crane is generally L-shaped in use, having a vertical trunk-securing arm adapted to be temporarily secured directly against the side of the tree trunk above the installation height of the object to be raised, a perpendicular boom extending away from the tree trunk, and a hoist mechanism on the boom spaced from the tree trunk. A separable hoist drive can be used, for example mounted to the base of the tree trunk in the same manner as the vertical trunk-securing arm.

  • Patent number: 7159261
Abstract: A convertible dock ramp has an upper end for being pivotally mounted to a mounting structure, and a lower end for resting on a second structure. The convertible dock ramp includes a pair of spaced-apart side frames each including upper and lower rails; and a plurality of steps each including a tread surface. The steps are pivotally mounted between the side frames such that the tread surfaces remain substantially parallel to each other as the side frames pivot about the upper end. The steps are pivotable between: a ramp configuration in which the tread surfaces collectively form a substantially flat ramp surface; and a stair configuration in which the tread surfaces collectively form a staircase-like structure. A changeover mechanism selectively retains the convertible dock ramp in the ramp configuration or the stair configuration. A safety stair tread deflects upward as needed to prevent trapping a user's foot.

  • Patent number: 6896273
Abstract: A dolly is disclosed for transporting a ladder. The dolly has a main frame, a ladder brace, and a ladder stop. The main frame has a first end, second end, and a single longitudinal frame member extending between the first end and the second end. The ladder brace upwardly extends from the first end of the main frame and supports one end of the ladder. The ladder stop upwardly extends from the second end of the main frame and engages a rung of the ladder. The dolly extends in length and height to accommodate various ladder lengths, and the dolly collapses for easy carrying and stowing. The dolly allows a user to transport the ladder with less lifting and, thus, less injury.

Abstract: A climbing tree stand includes upper and lower support assemblies for aiding an operator in climbing a tree and for supporting the operator in the tree. The upper and lower assemblies are attached to the trunk of the tree by straps that wrap around the trunk, and by cleats that are pressed into the trunk by the cantilevered weight of the assemblies. The upper assembly provides upper and lower seating positions for the operator. In both seating positions, the operator's weight is suspended below where the cleat engages the trunk of the tree. The upper seating position, which positions the operator's seat well above a railing provided by the upper assembly, is most advantageous for bow hunting. The lower seating position puts the operator's seat below the railing, allowing the operator to rest a gun on the railing when gun hunting. An axle is removably connected to the seat frame and may be repositioned to receive a pair of wheels when the tree stand is converted to a cart configuration. A pair of struts are pivotally connected at their lower ends to the support frame legs, and removably connected at their upper ends to the loop, to support the loop in an inclined position. The struts and support frame include apertures which will be aligned and locked into position by pins, when the tree stand is converted to the cad configuration.

  • Patent number: 5566780
Abstract: A ladder-based cart apparatus includes a first ladder assembly and a second ladder assembly. A pair of wheel assemblies are supported by first ladder assembly at preselected positions along the first ladder assembly. Adjustable connection assemblies connect the wheel assemblies to the preselected positions along the first ladder assembly. Each connection assembly has a height which is less than respective widths of first lateral support members of the first ladder assembly so that translation of the second ladder assembly with respect to the first ladder assembly is not interfered with by the connection assembly. A first platform assembly, connected to distal ends of second lateral support members of the second ladder assembly, includes a hinge assembly connected to the distal ends of the second lateral support members. A first platform element is connected to the hinge assembly. A stop element is connected to a bottom side of the first platform element.

  • Patent number: 5433291
Abstract: A combination self-climbing tree stand and wheeled game carrier provides for carriage of a hunter's equipment into a relatively remote hunting site and carriage of game or other articles therefrom. The disposition of the relatively large wheels near the center of gravity of the device, enables a person to carry a substantial load with the wheels supporting nearly all of the weight. The configuration of the device may be changed relatively easily, by separating two major components and removing the wheels, whereupon the device may be reassembled about a tree or the like and used to lift the hunter and his/her equipment up the tree, without need for other supplemental lifting or hoisting devices. The seat disposed within the tree stand configuration may be arranged to face toward or away from the tree, and additional convenience and safety features may be provided, such as storage pockets, side rails, and a foot rest.

Abstract: A rearrangeable assembly can take on either a tree stand configuration or an equipment transport configuration. A two section ladder is hinged for 180.degree. rotation from a folded substantially horizontal condition in the transport configuration to an open substantially vertical condition in the stand configuration. A platform is hingedly connected for approximately 90.degree. rotation between substantially horizontal conditions in either the stand configuration or the transport configuration. A main carriage with relatively large wheels connects beneath the ladder and a front carriage with relatively small wheels connects in front of the ladder in the transport configuration. Preferably, a steering frame connects to the platform in the transport configuration. Additionally, a brake for controlling the rate of rotation of the main carriage wheels is connected between the steering frame and the main carriage in the transport configuration.

  • Patent number: 5295556
Abstract: A multipurpose hunter's apparatus convertible between a wheeled cart, a sled, a tree stand, and a free standing deer stand. The apparatus comprises a pair of L-shaped frame members separated by a plurality of rungs to provide a ladder when in the elevated position, or as brace members when used as a transporting device. A unique arrangement of three braces can be used in various configurations to rigidly stabilize the respective arrangement and to provide a load retaining member when transporting game or hunter's equipment. A handle is adaptable to the wheeled carts and the sled arrangements which is adapted to a snowmobile or an all terrain vehicle. Various members are multipurpose in function such that various devices can be arranged, with a minimal amount of material. The apparatus can be transportable in a boat across open water, and can be arranged to carry the boat between portages.

  • Patent number: 5064020
Abstract: A hunting device that is selectively convertible between a tree stand position and a reclined sitting position, thus providing a single apparatus for hunting both large and small game. The apparatus includes a support member, which is capable of pivoting relative to a base member, such that when the apparatus is in the reclined sitting position, the support member pivots to allow the hunter to assume the reclined position. The support member is spring biased in the upright position to allow the hunter to quickly shift from a reclined position to an upright sitting position. In the tree stand position, the base member elevates the support member against the trunk of a tree to allow the support member to serve as an elevated platform for the hunter. The base member includes a first section and a second section pivotally connected to the first section so that the apparatus may be folded into a hand-operated cart with detachable wheels.
