Abstract: In a suitcase including a suitcase body that is delimited by a back wall and by side walls that adjoin the back wall and are arranged on two opposing narrow and long sides of the suitcase body in each case, a folding lid is formed on at least one side of the suitcase body. The lid can be connected to the suitcase body by a zip fastener. One side wall of the suitcase body includes a recess in which an overlapping segment of the lid engages such that the overlapping segment forms the side wall of the suitcase body at least in part. The suitcase body (2) may include a limiting element in the recess, by which element luggage contents are prevented from falling out of the suitcase.

Abstract: A light-weight, easily portable luggage combination is described. The combination comprises a garment bag and a general purpose bag and optionally a utility bag, wherein the garment bag and general purpose bag may be reversibly secured together or used separately if desired. The combination provides for a first interior space in the garment bag so that hanging clothes can be stored in the garment bag and a second interior space in the general purpose bag so that other items (for example, clothing, shoes, accessories, and toiletries) can be stored separately from the hanging clothes.

Abstract: A storage device including a storage device body configured to store items therein, and a pocket. The pocket includes a piece of pocket material coupled to the body and at least partially defining a pocket cavity. The pocket further includes a first fastener configured to releasably attach the piece of pocket material to the body, and a second fastener configured to releasably attach the piece of pocket material to the body. The first fastener, when uncoupled, allows access to the pocket cavity via a first direction, and the second fastener, when uncoupled, allows access to the pocket cavity via a second direction that is different from the first direction.

Abstract: Disclosed is a dual access-point system for holding an item. The dual access-point system allows a traveler to easily store and retrieve one or more items through two sides of a backpack (e.g., via the top and the side). Additionally, the backpack can be quickly converted into a suitcase; for example, by hiding the straps in the pockets on the backpack. The dual access-point system may be used as a standalone system. Alternatively, the dual access-point system may be integrated with a backpack. The disclosed dual access-point system saves time and money for its users, making their lives easier while making them look good and professional.

Abstract: A carrying bag suited for transporting hairstyling products. The carrying bag comprises a housing having a base, sidewalls, a rear wall, an open front, and an open upper end. A flap attached to the base is removably securable over the front and upper portions so as to enclose the interior volume of the housing. The housing may further include one or more handles or shoulder straps. An interior wall extends between opposing sidewalls and defines a front compartment and a rear compartment, wherein the rear compartment can be further subdivided into smaller compartments in which hairstyling products can be stored. The front compartment further includes a power strip having an electrical plug for securement to an electrical outlet and one or more sockets for connection to electrical hairstyling products.

Abstract: A suitcase made from hard shell material, preferably a pilot suitcase, including a lower suitcase portion which is open at the top, with a front panel, a rear panel and two side end panels, and a bottom panel, and a hinged lid for closing, wherein a telescopic handle can be pulled out in an upwards direction is arranged on the rear panel of the lower suitcase portion for pulling or pushing the suitcase, the lid having a narrow stationary lid element which extends along the entire length of the lower suitcase portion along the rear panel and has an opening in the middle of the length, through which opening the telescopic handle can be pulled out, and, next to the opening for the telescopic handle, the lid having a hinge which connects the stationary lid element to a fold-down wide lid element.

Abstract: A garment bag includes a rectangular bag having a zipper opening, a pocket flap mounted at an inner bottom side of the bag with a narrow gap defined between the pocket flap and the bag and having two windows located on two opposite lateral sides thereof, two buckle modules each including a first buckle member positioned in one respective window and a second buckle member mounted near the top of the bag and fastenable to the first buckle member to secure the bag in a folded condition for allowing the top side of the folded bag to be received in the narrow gap.

Abstract: Luggage with crushable, resilient portions and methods for making it are disclosed. In one embodiment, the cover of a piece of luggage is formed of a thermoplastic urethane (TPU) and has sufficient deformability so that it may be crushed and inverted into itself for storage and then resiliently returned to essentially the same shape. The luggage is preferably made by a process of vacuum forming a heated TPU sheet over a mold.

Abstract: A garment bag for a collared shirt, the bag comprising a receptacle (52) arranged to receive a first portion of a shirt including the collar (26) and cover (40) arranged to receive the remainder of the said shirt and be rolled up around the receptacle, the receptacle being of greater rigidity than the cover. A method of folding a shirt having a back portion, two front portions, two sleeves and a collar is also disclosed, the method comprising the steps of folding the shirt centrally of the back and between the back and both front portions so that the back lies folded between the front portions, positioning one sleeve along each front portion, protecting the collar and rolling the remainder of the shirt around the protected collar. Preferably the shirt folding method and garment bag are used together.

Abstract: A waterproof bag forming an enclosure, and having an opening with a waterproof horizontal zipper closure mechanism sealingly attached therein. A rollable top portion of the enclosure can be rolled down to cover the opening and closure mechanism to reduce pressure exerted on the zipper during submersion, allowing the enclosure to safely reach greater depths while maintaining water resistance. Methods of constructing and using a waterproof bag are also disclosed.

The resiliently-bendable reinforcing member attached to the back panel is structured and arranged to disperse the weight of a load on the article of luggage when loaded with the load; to retain a rectangular parallelepiped shape of the article of luggage; and to minimize strain on an operator selecting mechanism defining an openable and closable access opening to the interior of the article of luggage.

Abstract: A zip fastener includes two sliders for connecting elongate stringers, each slider having a pull tab. For improved security of the zip fastener the pull tabs can be interlocked with one another by a slide-and-turn action, turning one pull tab relative to the other about an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the stringers. The enclosed space may be divided into one or more compartments. The luggage may further include at least one zipper to access the enclosed space. The at least one zipper may include a zipper track, at least one zipper slider, and at least on zipper tab. At least a portion of the zipper track may be positioned within one or more recessed areas defined by at least some of the sides of the luggage. In some embodiments, the zipper track may be positioned within the one or more recessed areas along substantially the entire length of the zipper track.

Abstract: A carrying case for a portable electronic device includes an outer case having a front wall, a rear wall, and a side wall extending between and peripherally around the front and rear walls; and an inner compartment located within the outer case. The inner compartment is suspended in a cantilever-type fashion from one of the walls of the outer case and includes a front panel and a side panel extending peripherally around the front panel to define a hollow interior into which the portable electronic device can be received. The side panel is spaced from the side wall to define a deceleration zone into which a portion of the inner compartment can travel when the carrying case is subjected to deceleration forces, such as may be caused by bumping or dropping the carrying case.

Abstract: A collapsible piece of luggage is disclosed. The piece of luggage may have wheels and an extendable and retractable handle. The sidewall, bottom and cover of the luggage have sufficient rigidity to hold their own shape and may be folded into a storage configuration in which the piece of luggage is smaller in width and depth. Additionally, the luggage includes an expansion feature that allows the luggage cover to expand outward pyramidally so as to increase the storage volume of the luggage.

For roll-on type travel bags, a pop-up handle is provided in a side wall, rather than on the back face as in current luggage. The inventive system is particularly useful for suitcases, carry-on or roll-on bags, back packs, totes, brief cases, and laptop cases. Dual-sided external access combined with internal, modular, fixed-size or variable-size stowage cells, oriented generally orthogonal to the planes of both sides, permits packing and selective removal of articles through either face of the bag so that articles otherwise buried in the bag are easily removed by flipping the bag over and accessing the item through the openable back face.

Abstract: It is often necessary to unfold the integral carrying case of a device such as a portable electronic instrument comprising an upper and lower module. However if it is necessary upon unfolding the case to move apart the modules a limited distance while maintaining their relative alignment the common scissor-slider mechanism will not suffice inasmuch as the scissor mechanism does not latch on retraction and rotation. The disclosed invention provides a scissor-slider mechanism that extends without constraint in the usual fashion, but upon retraction and rotation about the slider axis required for folding the scissor-slider mechanism self-latches, keeping the upper and lower modules from separating.

Abstract: A design of a composite suitcase having an ‘n’ shape body and a triple-fold extensible member. The triple-fold extensible member being attached to one side of the ‘n’ shape body. On the periphery of the triple-fold extensible member is provided a zipper chain which is complemented by a counter zipper chain furnished on the edge rim of the ‘n’ shape body with an opening provided centrally to the middle fold segment of the triple-fold member, overlapped by a liftable lid. The zipper may be sealed to close such that, once the triple-fold member is folded up, the closure by the zipper pair will form a suitcase completed together with the ‘n’ shape body, whereupon the suitcase may be deployed to store a suit. The suitcase may be opened by opening the lid externally, the opening allowing for the storage of objects therein.

Abstract: A bag for a notebook computer which allows easy use of the computer while still maintained in the computer bag. The bag includes a body for receiving a notebook computer therein, and a cover pivotally coupled along one side to the body to enable opening motion of the cover. The bag further includes an angular motion restraint which couples the cover of the bag to the body of the bag, so that the cover opening approximately corresponds to the opening of the computer display panel. In one embodiment of the invention, the angular motion restraint includes a restraining band. The restraining band has one end fixed to the body of the bag and the other end fitted with a first fastener part. The first fastener part of the restraining band is attachable to a second faster part which is attached to an inner surface of the cover.

And a means for handling the luggage system is provided to push, tow, and steer the luggage system.

A first storage device moveable between a first position and a second position is configured to contain items placed therein. The first position is a closed position, wherein the first storage device extends generally completely within the frame. A second storage device is connected to the frame and is slidable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the second storage device extends generally completely within the frame. In the second position, the second storage device extends at least partially outward from the frame.

Abstract: A rigid frame garment bag travel case combination is formed in a rectilinear shaped case having opposed openable main compartments which share a common side. Each compartment is bounded by a partial rigid U-shaped frame. Between the openable compartments is a common wall provided with a separate planar frame which protects garments, especially suits or dresses, which may be hung from one compartment across the common side and into the other main compartment and secured by crossing straps. A small fold-out fabric panel attached to the lower edge of a lower main compartment is capable of holding dresses which are longer than both compartments. A larger fold-out panel is attached to one side of both main compartments and has a number of pockets for soft garments. The larger panel is folded over the openable compartments and the smaller panel. It is secured along its edge with a zipper.

Abstract: A suitcase having a panel portion which can be completely removed from the remaining side and rear panels of the suitcase structure for receiving a design in automated machinery and subsequently being re-attached. A method of manufacture is also disclosed.

Abstract: A camera bag having a substantially rigid rectilinear well with a plurality of rigid bins disposed therein. The bins are mounted for rotation about horizontal axes disposed toward the front of the bag and may be selectively rotated between a home position in which they fit in the interior of the bag and an open position at which their contents may be easily accessed. Apparatus for maintaining the bins and both their open and home position is disclosed. A retractable U-shaped handle having telescoping rods is used to pull the bag on a pair of wheels when desired. The telescoping rods become journaled in tubular guides disposed within the interior of the bag. Removable side pockets are particularly designed for carrying lenses and specifically designed to be quickly removed from the sides of the bag and carried on the belt of a user.

Abstract: Frames for softsided luggage usually comprise a hoop-shaped member of extruded plastic or metal attached to a bottom board to which in turn is attached wheels or the like. The means of attachment between this frame member and bottom board leads to aesthetic problems with regard to cluttered interior space. Disclosed is a luggage case and frame construction wherein the downwardly directed leg members of an extruded frame member terminate in splayed or outwardly directed attachment feet. Each attachment foot thus is positioned and permanently fixed to an end portion of the bottom board. Adjacent to the leg member is a divider panel, preferably in the form of a pouch-like cloth construction, which is attached to the associated end panel and forms an auxiliary compartment accessible through the end panel via a zipper. The pouch-like construction rests directly on the attachment foot, at least partially covering it, thus avoiding the addition of a cloth panel or auxiliary board for that purpose.

Abstract: A luggage case including a rectangular shell of relatively flexible material having a back, front, top, bottom and ends, with the front having a closable opening therein; a reinforcing strip which extends along the top and partially down each of the side for providing structural support to the shell to maintain the rectangular shape thereof; and a pair of support rods respectively secured to the sides, each of the support rods having a substantially rectangular shape corresponding to the shape of the perimeter of each of the sides, and being secured thereto. In this manner, when a force is exerted on the sides, the sides may flex in the direction of the force, and when the force is removed, the sides will resume their initial position due to the elastic restoring force of the support rods. Both the reinforcing strip and the support rods are disposed on the inside surfaces of the luggage case.

Abstract: A luggage case comprises a luggage frame which is substantially continuous and centrally located so as to support the top, bottom, and end walls of the luggage, which has two flexible side walls provided with a zipper opening and closing means, and a flexible center partition which is removable and adapted to provide either two separate, individually accessible compartments for the luggage case or a single compartment accessible through one of the side wall openings.

Abstract: Some softsided cases (luggage cases with cloth panel bodies) include the frame structures to hold them erect and give them some structural rigidity. The ability of such frame members to withstand crushing forces without damage varies considerably. Also, the weight of such frame members can work against the inherent lightness of softsided luggage. Disclosed is a luggage case and a frame member for the luggage case which includes a panel. The panel comprises a pair of cloth laminae attached to one another at a peripheral seam structure. Between the laminae are positioned flexible elongated members preferably along the diagonals of the laminae if the laminae has a rectangular or trapezoid shape. These elongated members are engaged at the corners by holding means which have sockets to receive the elongated members, and specially shaped outer edges which engage a substantial portion of the peripheral seam at the corners. The elongated members cross one another in the middle of the panel.
