Abstract: A protection member for suitcases is an elongate body having a groove defined in a first side of the body so that the protection member is stitched to the rear face of the suitcase along the groove. The first side of the body is a convex surface which protrudes from the periphery of the body so that when the suitcase hits an object which hits the convex surface first and the protection member is deformed to absorb the impact force.

Abstract: A luggage structure is disclosed to include a hard plastic body internally decorated with a curtain, a metal reinforcing inner frame and a metal reinforcing outer frame respectively fastened to inner and outer diameters of the hard plastic body, a flexible supplementary frame attached to the topmost edge of the hard plastic body and riveted to the metal reinforcing inner frame, a fabric cover fastened to the flexible supplementary frame and adapted to close/open the luggage, and a fabric shell riveted to the metal reinforcing outer frame and covered over the flexible supplementary frame.

Abstract: A protection member for a suitcase is an elongated U-shaped body which encloses the connection stripe enclosing two overlapped edges of two adjacent surface fabrics of the suitcase. A groove is defined in an outside of the U-shaped body and a stitch for connecting the protection member, the connection stripe and the two overlapped edges is received in the groove.

The multi-functional edge frame arrangement includes a plurality of edge frames, each having a main frame having a L-shaped cross section and two edge holders provided at two side ends of the main frame. An edge portion of the side panel and an edge portion of the base panel are arranged to securely mount along the edge holders respectively so as to connect the side panel with the base panel. At least one of the edge frames is constructed to form a utility edge frame and the multi-functional edge frame arrangement further includes a mounting unit provided on the utility edge frame and a container accessory including a reinforcing member shaped and sized to fittedly mount on the mounting unit.

Abstract: A full-gussetted luggage article and an associated method for making a full-gussetted luggage article are provided. The full-gussetted luggage article includes an integrally molded full-gusset and a skin disposed over the full-gusset. An associated method of making a full-gussetted luggage article and a unique handle assembly for a full-gussetted luggage article are also disclosed.

Abstract: A protective strip is fastened to the outer surface of a luggage shell by one or more fastening plates which are attached to the inner surface of the luggage shell. The protective strip is provided with a plurality of retaining bodies, whereas the fastening plates are provided with a plurality of projections corresponding in location to and engageable with the retaining bodies of the protective strip. The fastening plates are attached to the inner surface of the luggage shell such that the projections of the fastening plates are engaged with the retaining bodies of the protective strip via the through holes of the luggage shell.

Abstract: A box-like luggage item, such as a trunk, has panels forming ends, sides, top, and bottom of the box. Extruded strips having coves therein receive and grip edges of the panels in order to form the panels into the box-like structure. The box-like structure has a lid and a body with some of the extruded strips having a single cove for receiving a lower edge of each side of the lid and other extruded strips receiving an upper edge of each side of the body. Each of these extruded strips contains an area of a predetermined cross section for receiving an arm of an L-shaped bracket having the same predetermined section which strengthens and aligns the corner of the frame. This ability to align corners enables an elimination of a prior art practice of first installing a strip, cutting a notch in the strip, and then removing the notched material in order to mount hardware.

Abstract: An alarm strap for luggage (10) for emitting an audible alarm when unauthorized entrance into baggage (34) is attempted. The alarm strap for luggage (10) includes an alarm housing (12), alarm circuitry (14), a lock switch (24), and a strap (26), made of substantially the same material of typical luggage straps, carrying an electrically conductive element (28). A ratcheting mechanism (30) is attached to the alarm housing (12). The strap (26) is wrapped around the baggage (34), passed through the ratcheting mechanism (30), and tightened down so that no slack is left, and the strap (26) is taut against the baggage (34). The lock switch (24) is turned to the on position to complete the alarm circuitry (14) circuit and arm the alarm. When someone tries to gain unauthorized access to the baggage (34) by cutting the strap (26), the severing of the electrically conductive element (28) energizes the alarm circuitry (14) and sets off an audible alarm.

Abstract: A suitcase has an extendable handle movable between extended and retracted positions, and wheels whereby the suitcase is tilted for transport on the wheels and manipulated via the handle. The case is generally rectilinear in shape, with the top, bottom, front, rear and side panels occupying orthogonal planes. The extensible handle can have a U-shape with spaced elongated arms extending from a central gripping portion and slidable in sockets in the case. The handle and wheels are mounted at the front and rear edges of the bottom wall, and two compartments are accessible by slide fasteners on the top and around an internal partition. The bottom panel is connected to the front and rear panels by front and rear inclined panel sections. The handle sockets are mounted on one inclined panel, permitting the handle to extend and retract. Wheel-carrying brackets are mounted on the other inclined panel, the wheel axes being fixed.

Abstract: In the suitcase according to this invention each of its two parts (container or cover) is formed from a dismountable belt with four panels and from a bottom connected at the four corners through four structural connection parts, each of the latter comprising known assembling and/or fitting in elements or means for the edge portions of two adjacent panels and for the corresponding angle of the bottom to be connected so as to form a rectangular trihedron used as means for supporting, mounting and securing a protective corner, on the one hand, and on the other hand, reinforcing corner irons protecting from shocks in the longitudinal, vertical and transverse directions, each corner iron clamping the selvedge of a suitcase coating material against the corresponding panel.
