Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a protection member for protecting stitching of a suitcase. The protection member encloses a connection stripe and has a groove for receiving stitching therein.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A conventional suitcase is shown in FIG. 1 and the surface fabrics 10, 11 are connected with each other by stitching the overlapped edges of the two adjacent surface fabrics 10, 11. A connection stripe 12 as shown in FIG. 2 is used to enclose the stitched overlapped edges and the stitch 13 penetrates through the connection stripe 12 and the overlapped edges of the two adjacent surface fabrics 10, 11. The connection stripe 12 is supposed to protect the overlapped edges. However, the stitch 13 is exposed and can be accessed from outside of the suitcase so that both of the connection stripe 12 and the stitch 13 can be worn out. Once the stitch 13 is worn out, the connection stripe 12 is disengaged from the overlapped edges and cannot protect the overlapped edges.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a protection member for a suitcase and the protection member is an elongated U-shaped body which encloses the connection stripe enclosing the two overlapped edges of two adjacent surface fabrics of the suitcase. A groove is defined in an outside of the U-shaped body and the groove receives a stitch for connecting the protection member, the connection stripe and the overlapped edges.

[0004] The primary object of the present invention is to provide a suitcase stitching protection member wherein the stitching is received in a groove defined in an outside of the protection member.

[0005] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0006] FIG. 1 is a perspective view to show a conventional suitcase with connection stripes connected thereto;

[0007] FIG. 2 is a cross section to show the connection stripe enclosing two overlapped edges of the conventional suitcase;

[0008] FIG. 3 is a perspective view to show the protection member connected to a suitcase, and

[0009] FIG. 4 is a cross section to show the protection member enclosing the connection stripe and the stitching is received in a groove of the protection member.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0010] Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, the protection member 2 of the present invention is an elongated U-shaped body which encloses a connection stripe 30 from outside and the connection stripe 30 encloses two overlapped edges of two adjacent surface fabrics 31, 32 of a suitcase 3. A groove 220 is defined in an outside of the U-shaped body and the stitch 31 is received in the groove 220 and penetrates through the U-shaped body, the connection stripe 30 and the two overlapped edges of the two adjacent surface fabrics 31, 32 of the suitcase 3. A plurality of ribs 21 extend from the outside of the U-shaped body so as to protect the U-shaped body from being worn out. The depth of the groove 220 is larger than the thickness of the stitch 31 so that the stitch 31 will not be worn.

[0011] The groove 220 provides a guide line and is convenient for the manufacturers to stitch.

[0012] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims
