  • Patent number: 4624649
Abstract: A toy furniture device adapted to be converted from a couch arrangement to a fold-down bed arrangement. The device includes a main frame member within which a bed member is pivotably supported, the bed member being pivotably movable between a stored position within the main frame member and a folded-down position wherein it extends substantially perpendicularly from the main frame member. A couch frame cooperates with a couch back portion defined on a bottom panel of the bed to define a couch configuration with a vertical wall therebehind when the bed member is in the stored position. In the folded-down position of the bed member, the couch frame is disposed below the bed member so as to support same and a panel of the main frame member defines a decorative vertical wall.

  • Patent number: 4606087
Abstract: Support pads or mattresses are formed from flexible fabric closed covers of generally rectangular configuration forming a chamber or space which is filled to approximately 50% of its normal maximum volume with relatively small expanded polystyrene beads. In one embodiment the pad is formed with intersecting disconnectable straps for restraining an infant in a generally reclined position on the pad. The pad may be converted for use as a carrying bag or container by forming a cavity or receptacle in one end of the cover by displacing the flowable polystyrene beads and utilizing one of the straps as a carrying strap for the bag, thereby providing a protective insulated carrier for various articles. One embodiment of the pad includes a segmented fabric cover forming a plurality of pockets for receiving individual pads or cushions whereby the pad may be utilized as a lounging mattress, swimming pool float, chair, or bench seat.

  • Patent number: 4600091
Abstract: A carryall handbag and mat formed of a single blank of foldable sheet material, one end being reversely folded onto an intermediate portion of the blank to define a reversely folded portion and an extended portion. A plurality of seams secures the reversely folded portion to define a pocket. In one form of the invention, an endless handle is connected to one edge of the folded blank, over which the blank, when folded, can be draped to define a handbag, and which blank can be readily unfolded to define a mat. In another form, the blank is folded so that the defined pocket can be turned inside out with the extended portion being disposed folded within the pocket.

  • Patent number: 4535878
Abstract: A pillow-tote bag (A) is illustrated for use at the lake or beach for carrying accessory devices and for providing a face and head rest for a person either in a prone or a supine position. The bag device (A) includes a pillow panel (10) and a pocket panel (12). The pillow panel (10) advantageously includes a bifurcated pillow (B) having a first pillow cushion (20) and a second pillow cushion (22). The pillow cushions are bifurcated for access to an air mask (36) so that a person may breathe comfortably in a supine position. The bifurcated pillows may be joined together and the air mask closed to provide a cradle (48) and unitary pillows for supporting the head when a person is lying in a supine position. A spine member (16) maintains the bag device in a non-sagging configuration when used as a tote. Pockets (60) carried in the pocket panel (12) are maintained in a straight configuration due to the non-sagging configuration of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4516668
Abstract: A combination knock-down handbag and mat which is formed of a blank of sheet material of a predetermined length and width which is peculiarly seamed and secured so that in the assembled or folded position, the blank forms a handbag and in the unfolded position the blank defines a mat, e.g. a beach mat. To form the mat, which can be subsequently formed into a handbag, one end of the blank is initially reversely folded onto a portion of the blank and secured thereto to define one or more open end pockets. A handle is secured to the open end of the pocket. To convert the mat into a handbag the remainder or extended portion of the blank is reversely folded in accordian fashion to the size and shape of the reversely folded portion. The opposed end portions of the folded blank thus folded are then folded relative to the central portion thereof. With the blank so folded, the central pocket thus formed is turned inside out to define the handbag in the final folded position of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4489815
Abstract: This invention relates to dual purpose tote bags in which one purpose is to provide a carrying bag or box and the other is to provide for a semi-rigid surface, which can be used for carrying and, holding food and for providing a table-like surface during picnics and outings. Prior devices have never fully satisfied the second purpose, their surfaces being too soft and pliable, this leading to problems in fulfilling the first purpose also in that the bag would not provide a semi-rigid internal space for carrying a payload. This invention teaches a new construction and a new method for converting from one purpose to the other. The new construction is both internal; employing three layers, the center layer being of semi-rigid material and, external; in the arrangement of the panels of the three-layered material. The new method of folding employs a stepwise folding of the flat panels into a box-like shape, suitable for maintaining a semi-rigid internal space.

  • Patent number: 4466516
Abstract: There is disclosed a multi-purpose sunblanket and tote bag that is formed of a foldable blanket-like material in the form of a mat. This mat constitutes a substantially rectangular first area having a major axis and a minor axis in which the mat defines at least four substantially equally spaced fold lines disposed transversely to the major axis of the mat. There is also provided a second area of the mat which is integral to the first area thereof and is separated therefrom by one of said spaced fold lines of the first area. The second area of the mat defines a sub-rectangle of about the same area and shape of each of the four sub-rectangles of the first area. Further, fold lines are provided within the sub-rectangle of the second area to define three sub-subrectangles which, when folded, will create like and similar sub-subrectangular folds within the sub-rectangle of the first area.
