  • Patent number: 6315231
Abstract: A micro-type communication wire winder includes a housing, a rotary disk, a buckling piece, a communication wire and a spiral spring. The rotary disk is pivotally installed in the receiving groove of the housing and one surface thereof is installed with an axle bush and an outer circular cover with slots for fixing and winding a communication wire. While another surface is installed with a ring protrusion for receiving and engaging a spiral spring or receiving the spiral spring in a cavity adjacent to the rotary disk so that the spiral spring can be wound around the ring protrusion. Thus, the communication wire has a rewinding force applied thereon. The rim of the rotary disk is further installed with a tilt buckling groove. A buckling piece at the side of the housing obliquely resists against the rim of the rotary disk.

Abstract: A cable storage device has a reel rotatably mounted in a frame. The reel has a hub that rotates with the reel. A connector panel has a plurality of connectors for interconnecting with an end of the cable on the reel. The connector panel will fit on a reel docking station for rotation with the reel. The connector panel also fits on a frame docking station while the reel is not to be rotated. A locking member is engaged by the connector panel when the connector panel is mounted to the reel docking station to allow rotation of the reel. The locking member is biased to a locking position when the connector panel is removed from the reel docking station. A cable presence sensor locks the reel against rotation if substantially all of the cable is pulled from the reel.

  • Patent number: 6264016
Abstract: A mobile power center with self-retracting cord includes an enclosure having a mounting surface which is attachable to the bumper of a vehicle and a front surface having a recessed area for attachment of a license plate. Within the enclosure, a reel carries an extension cord on a spring-powered spindle that allows manual extension and automatic retraction of the cord. Where the length of the cord exceeds the length which may be carried by the reel, first and second cord restraints, carried on opposed sides of the enclosure, support additional cord wrapped around the enclosure. The first and second three-prong sockets of a dual socket receptacle are wired in parallel to the inner end of the extension cord. In a first mode of operation, a block heater, mounted on the vehicle, may be plugged into a first socket, while a trouble light or tool may be plugged into the second socket. • Patent number: 6179103
Abstract: A new and improved apparatus for connecting electrical extension cords and trailer electrical connectors to a fixed point on a vehicle. The apparatus consists of a bracket which is secured onto a vehicle bumper through tabs aligned over vehicle license plate attachment holes. A vehicle electrical connector lead wire is routed through a notch in the bracket wherein it resides in a wire channel molded to the rear bracket. The notch on a vehicle electrical connector or a vehicle electrical trailer connector allows permanent fixation of either within an electrical connector housing molded to the front of the bracket. A connector cover is attached to the device housing to help prevent accidental shock and to protect the electrical connector from exposure and damage when the vehicle electrical attachment is not in use. The cover is easily moved during use through a compression spring and remains attached to the device housing preventing loss or damage.

  • Patent number: 6179238
Abstract: A reeling device is provided which allows an electrical lead to be wound up without the need for slip-rings. The lead is partially wound around a spool and is electrically connected to contacts in a spindle, about which the spool rotates. A portion of the lead is sprung and is loaded as the spool rotates to pay out the lead. A ratchet and pawl mechanism is provided to lock the lead in its extended configuration. The ratchet and pawl mechanism can be relased so that the lead is retracted using the energy stored in the sprung portion of the lead. A pair of the reeling devices may be combined back-to-back to provide convenient storage for earpiece and plug leads for a headset. The reeling device may also be integrated into a portable electronic apparatus for storing earpiece or microphone leads.
