  • Patent number: 5238346
Abstract: A continuous-conveyance bulk-cargo ship unloader. It has a pickup at the bottom of an upright screw conveyor. The screw conveyor rotates around a vertical axis and relays a more or less horizontally free-flowing stream of bulk material to a sandwiched-belt conveyor accommodated in an elephant trunk. The object of the present invention is to ensure that the sandwiched-belt conveyor will be supplied to capacity as effectively as possible and with as little friction as possible. The belts that comprise the sandwiched-belt conveyor (4 & 5) are curved at the bottom. The cylinder (10) that deflects the counterforce-application belt (9) is in approximately vertical alignment with the cylinder (12) that deflects the force-application belt (11). Both cylinders demarcate an intake-slot throat (13). The intake-slot throat intercepts the particles (8) of bulk material leaving the top of the screw conveyor (3) in a horizontal or upward-sloping trajectory.

  • Patent number: 5160012
Abstract: One or a plurality of circular conveyors are arranged at the transition points between vertical and horizontal conveyor sections in a continually operating conveyor system for moving items of freight, in particular sacks, cases, bundles, or the like. The truncated conical surface of a circular conveyor that carries the items of freight subtends an angle of other than 90.degree. with the axis of rotation of the vertical conveyor and is in constant movement independent of the direction of rotation or the orientation of the vertical conveyor. The safe, non-damaging transfer of the items of freight between the vertical and the horizontal conveyor sections is ensured by the position of the inner edge of the surface at the level of the transition point (guide wheels) of the supporting platforms of the vertical conveyor.

Abstract: A drive mechanism for a conveyor system. A pair of conveyors are located in parallel spaced relation and each conveyor includes a drive pulley with the drive pulleys being axially aligned. A transfer conveyor consisting of a plurality of parallel drive rollers is located between adjacent ends of the main conveyors. A rotatable input shaft driven by a motor is connected to a bevel gear unit which includes a pair of output shafts disposed normal to the input shaft and the output shafts are operably connected to the respective drive pulleys to drive the main conveyors. In addition, the bevel gear unit includes a second output shaft which is operably connected to one of the rollers of the transfer conveyor to drive that roller. Rotation of the driven roller is transmitted to the other rollers in the transfer conveyor by endless bands that are connected between adjacent rollers.

  • Patent number: 4526537
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for heat treatment of material in pieces at high temperature, especially for firing ceramic material. In this apparatus supports in the form of elongated support elements are provided on carrier elements rotatable about fixed axes, the supports are guided in the transport direction and are spaced a clear distance from one another at right angles to the transport direction. This results in even heat treatment of the material, a reduction in the energy consumption, shortening of the transit time, and a significant reduction in the construction and running costs.

  • Patent number: 4300673
Abstract: Apparatus facilitates the transfer of material from the discharge zone of one mine conveyor onto another conveyor extending perpendicularly to the first conveyor. The transfer apparatus can take the form of a rotatably driven disc disposed beneath the elevated discharge zone of the first conveyor so that the material falls onto the disc. The disc extends over the other conveyor. A scraper lies across the disc to scrape and guide the material into the other lower conveyor. Alternatively, the disc or a modified equivalent component is made stationary while a single scraper or several such scrapers rotate over the disc. The transfer apparatus can also take the form of a curvilinear trough or chute onto which the material falls from the elevated discharge zone of the first conveyor and is guided to the other conveyor. Several driven rollers or paddles or a scraper-chain assembly then impell the material along the chute.
