Publication number: 20090241239Abstract: A reversible hat is converted between at least two visible designs within a substantially integrated unit. For example, the reversible hat can be converted between a blaze orange material and a camouflage material. In one embodiment, a first design is visible on the exterior surface of a first crown. The reversible hat is converted to show a second visible design by folding the exterior surface of a portion of a first crown onto the exterior surface of another portion of the first crown, thereby hiding the first visible design. The folding portion of the first crown is connected to a folding portion of a second crown. Thus, folding a portion of the first crown thereby unfolds a portion of the second crown. Folding the exterior surface of a portion of a second crown onto the exterior surface of another portion of the second crown reveals the first visible design again.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 25, 2008Publication date: October 1, 2009Applicant: Mad Bomber CompanyInventor: R. Patent number: 5950242Abstract: The present invention is directed to an attachment for use with adjusting straps on a cap comprising a sheet of flexible material having a first portion and a second portion contiguous with the first portion. The first portion and second portion each have a width and a length wherein the width of the first portion is greater than the width of the second portion and the length of the second portion is greater than the length of the first portion. The first portion has a widthwise slit having a perimetrical edge and an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the sheet. The slit is sized for frictional insertion therethrough of the second portion. The second portion has a first end at the point of contiguity of the first and second portions and a second end opposite the first end. The second portion has an integrally formed engagement region in proximity to the point of contiguity of the first and second portions and adapted for engaging the perimetrical edge of the slit.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1997Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Inventor: Kevin S. Patent number: 5950241Abstract: A hat having a twist folding brim includes a drape depending from the outer periphery of the brim. The outer periphery of the brim also includes a stiff but flexible member therein, enabling the brim to be twisted and folded over for compact storage of the hat with its attached brim and drape. The drape provides good air circulation about the back of the neck of a wearer of the present hat, due to its distance from the wearer from depending from the outer edge of the relatively wide brim of the hat. The drape also serves to shield the wearer from the sun and other environmental effects. The drape may be permanently or removably attached to the brim of the hat, and may be made in virtually any practicable length, width, and/or material as desired. Adjustment for the length and/or width may also be provided with the hat. The drape may be formed of water resistant, waterproof, or water absorbent materials, with water absorbent drapes providing an evaporative cooling effect when moistened.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1998Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Inventor: Anna Maria D. Patent number: 5933869Abstract: The present invention discloses sports headgear with an attached widow's veil which covers part or all of the face of the wearer. The headgear is designed to worn by a woman wanting to humorously express her "sorrow" at being displaced by a man's exclusive interest in a sporting activity. The preferred headgear is a peaked baseball cap with the veil attached to the front of the cap. The veil is of fine mesh and has wide interstices so that the face of the wearer, (and her expression), may be clearly seen, and the preferred color of the veil material is black. It will be appreciated that the juxtaposition of a sporting element (the cap) and a badge of sadness (the widow's veil) when worn together, communicates a woman's feelings of being left out of the fun in a wry subliminal manner. Other embodiments of the invention include the baseball cap and veil, with an inscription "WIDOWWEAR" on the crown at the front of the cap along with an icon representing the sport being targeted, e.g.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1998Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Inventor: Kathy O. Patent number: 5924129Abstract: The invention relates to a sun protective shield worn with a headgear to protect face of a wearer from ultraviolet radiation. The shield is flexible, air permeable and optically transparent so as not to impede breathing or vision of the user. The shield has a first set of securing tabs adjacent the top edge of the shield for securing to a piece of headgear, and a second set of securing tabs for retaining the shield in any of a plurality of folded positions. The second set of tabs engages with the first set of tabs when the shield is partially or fully folded, covering the entire face of the user or only a part thereof.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1998Date of Patent: July 20, 1999Inventor: Jeannie Gill
