Abstract: A shock absorbing cap provides shock abortion in the space between the interior of a traditional safety helmet and the head of the wearer. The cap has a first region next to the scalp which is made of 100% knitted cotton for comfort and the absorption of sweat. A second region is made of 100% wool fleece braided fiber bundles that extend alternately in longitudinal and lateral directions sufficiently to nearly fill the space. The outermost region is made of one or more layers of braided 100% carbon fiber bundles, which run the opposite direction of the last wool lock. In an alternative, the first region is used but the second region completely fills the space with woven aramid and carbon fiber squares laid on top of each other and sewn together. The uppermost portion is laser cut for a tight but comfortable fit under the helmet.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses configured to bond elastic laminates together between a rotating drum and anvil. The drum includes a fluid nozzle and a press member. As such, a first elastic laminate and a second elastics laminate may be advanced in a machine direction onto the rotating drum. A fluid is heated to a temperature sufficient to partially melt substrate layers of the first and second elastic laminates. As the drum rotates, the press member shifts radially outward from the drum wherein a length, L, of the pattern surface extends in the cross direction across a plurality of elastic strands of first and/or second elastic laminates. And the partially melted portion of the substrate layers of the first and second elastic laminates and the plurality of elastic strands are then bonded together by being compressed between the pattern surface and the anvil roll.

Abstract: A head scarf has a main body and a lining that are made of flat planar flaccid fabric. It has a crown for covering a wearer's head and a tail that hangs down from the rear of the crown. The lining has front and rear margin areas attached along their lengths to the main body. The end points of the front margin area of the lining are flush with the end points of the crown portion of the main body. The lining has its greatest length, measured longitudinally, in a central longitudinal plane of the scarf. The length of the lining fabric measured between the front and rear margin areas is greater, by differential amounts that decrease progressively toward the end points, than the linear distance between the front and rear margin areas to enhance the ability of the scarf to conform to the shape of a wearer's head.

Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown with a plurality of gores, including first and second gores, that are joined at a connecting line at a first circumferential location on the crown. The gores cooperatively produce an inverted, cup-shaped receptacle into which a user's head can be directed. The crown has a bottom portion that extends at least partially around a wearer's head to embrace the wearer's head. A sweatband on the crown engages a wearer's head. The first and second gores are stretchable circumferentially away from the connecting line to thereby increase the diameter of the crown. The sweatband has a portion that is locally non-stretchable at the first circumferential location so that the sweatband and first and second gores are circumferentially stretchable together away from the first circumferential location in response to the direction of a user's head, with at least a predetermined effective diameter, into the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 7581261
Abstract: The present invention is headgear of the billed cap type where the cap can have a fixed size crown. The cap includes an integral two-piece headband or sweatband attached along a bottom of the cap crown on the inside of the crown. The headband includes a first piece, stretchable part located in a front portion of the cap associated with the bill or sun visor and a second piece, non-stretchable part located in the rear. The stretchable part is stretched and attached to the crown in tension along a lower edge, allowing the upper edge of the headband to relax, and incline toward the interior of the crown and away from a sidewall of the crown. This relaxed upper edge is ready to stretch to fit a varying head size while the cap is not distorted by any stretching of the headband. The range of head sizes that can be accommodated by the cap can be increased by providing an elastic visor that is also attached to the cap crown along the bottom peripheral edge of the crown.

The bucket diameter may be adjusted by a circumferential belt secured to the bucket by loops affixed to the latter. Length of the belt, as adjusted by modifying the length by which the belt overlaps itself, adjusts the diameter of bucket. The belt may have a fastening element such as hook and loop material to maintain the selected length. The configuration of the brim may be adjusted by for example manually bending or forming a metallic wire incorporated into the brim.
