  • Patent number: 7869194
Abstract: At least one embodiment of the invention provides that, for a closing apparatus for a part rack withdrawable via V-shaped rod assemblies, the closing apparatus includes at least one pin formed on rod assemblies or as part of them, each pin engaging in a slot in an actuating element. Owing to the use of the slots, the actuating element can be formed as a rigid body, with the result that no frictional forces need to be overcome when inserting a circuit breaker into a withdrawable-part rack with the closing apparatus according to at least one embodiment of the invention. With the closing apparatus according to at least one embodiment of the invention, a locking element can have a particularly simple design: it can be guided in the actuating element.

Abstract: An apparatus for preventing withdrawing and insertion of a carriage of a circuit breaker is disclosed. When a circuit breaker main body is inserted, an interlocking unit operates by interworking with the carriage withdrawing and inserting preventing apparatus, and while the circuit breaker is being closed, a withdrawal and insertion handle prevents a lead screw from being rotated by the interlocking unit. Thus, when the circuit breaker performs a closing operation, unnecessary withdrawing and inserting operation of the carriage is basically prevented to thus prevent various safety accidents, a contact resistance, a temperature increase, and damage to a device resulting from a breakdown.

The control member interacts with an internal locking slide when a circuit-breaker is moved into the frame, the locking slide being displaceably guided in the circuit-breaker. If the locking device is activated (“locked”), the control member acts on the internal locking slide of the circuit-breaker and ensures that the circuit breaker cannot be switched on. If circuit-breakers with locking slides that can be displaced vertically are used, the control member is situated underneath the circuit-breaker.

  • Patent number: 7019228
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling an electrical switching module which can be displaced between an entry position and an exit position. The switching module comprises switching contacts of vacuum switching tubes; an isolating element which can be also be displaced in the switching module and comprises isolating contacts which can be connected to, and disconnected from, corresponding mating contacts inside an enclosed switchboard section, as required; and connector contacts and mating connector contacts in the low voltage range. The switching contacts of the vacuum switching tubes support the closing and opening processes, under the control influence of a closing spring which can be influenced by a closing catch (EK) and an opening spring which can be influenced by an opening catch, and prominent functional positions of the isolating position.

  • Patent number: 7019230
Abstract: A racking device performs a circuit breaker racking operation. The racking device includes a base with wheels and a brake to facilitate moving the racking device and positioning it with respect to a switchgear cabinet. An elongated tubular member extends substantially vertically from the base. A self-contained counter-balanced power module includes an enclosure having a pair of opposing openings for receiving the elongated tubular member, and a counterweight system for counter-balancing the power module. An actuator including a motor, a ball spline and a torque member moves a linkage assembly having an end effector with a negator spring that positively engages the circuit breaker. A switch module actuates the actuator from a remote location in order to move the linkage assembly and thus the circuit breaker to perform the racking operation from the remote location. Complicated field programming of the power module is not required.

Abstract: An interlock assembly is for locking the operating assembly of a safety switch when the cover thereof is open or removed. The safety switch includes an enclosure with the cover and side walls. The operating assembly includes a bracket and a spring-toggle mechanism with a spring-biased drive link having an arm. An operating handle, which is coupled to the spring-biased drive link, operates the operating assembly. The interlock assembly includes a pivotal lever having a catch and a sensing portion. A pivot receives a blind rivet and pivotally couples the pivotal lever to the side wall. A torsion spring biases the pivotal lever toward engaging the arm of the spring-biased drive link in order that the catch engages and locks the arm when the cover of the enclosure is open. The sensing portion is engaged and pivoted by the cover when it is closed.

Abstract: A motorized racking operator for racking a circuit breaker into and out of electrical switchgear is disclosed. The racking operator includes a motor, an On-Off control in signal communication with the motor, an anti-rotation bracket securely attached to the motor, and a latch. The motor has a drive shaft with an end configured to operably engage with a receiving end of a racking shaft. The latch serves to removably secure the motor and bracket to the circuit breaker such that the motor and bracket move in unison with the circuit breaker in response to the motor driving the racking shaft to rack the circuit breaker into and out of the switchgear. The anti-rotation surface of the bracket engages with a surface of the circuit breaker to prevent rotation of the motor in response to the motor applying a torque to the racking shaft.

  • Patent number: 6838626
Abstract: An electric switch includes a drive shaft that can be actuated by means of a hand crank and a blocking mechanism for blocking actuation of the drive shaft. The hand crank has a shaft that can be displaced along the drive shaft and that is protected against removal by the drive shaft and a crank arm that is axially fixed on the shaft and is wound by the shaft. In order to configure that blocking mechanism in such a way that a blocking force substantially smaller in comparison with the torque of the drive shaft is needed in order to block actuation of the drive shaft, a recess is provided on the front side of the switch, into which the crank arm can be lowered in an anti-rotational manner by displacing the shaft, wherein the blocking mechanism that has been activated for blocking fixes the shaft axially once the crank arm has been lowered into the recess.
