Each tray has a hollow upright center post which is received within the center post of the tray positioned immediately on top of it. The posts have apertures formed in their distal ends and are so dimensioned that as the organizer is fully assembled each aperture is in closely spaced relation to the respective apertures in the posts of adjacent trays. When it is desired to manually separate particular trays to gain access to certain contents of the organizer, the user may insert the index finger of a single hand into the apertures and grip the desired number of posts, which allows one or more trays to be lifted and separated from the tray to which access is sought. A cover is provided with a knob-like projection having an aperture formed therein so that the cover may be gripped in a manner similar to the manner in which the trays are gripped.

  • Patent number: 5020255
Abstract: A card holder has a moulded body for holding a plurality of cards. The moulded body comprises a base wall and two spaced side walls extending from the base wall. The side walls have channels for holding cards in a spaced relationship with respect to each other. The channels have access openings at their one end for permitting insertion of cards into and removal of cards from the channels. The card holder has a resiliently displaceable retaining tab extending from the body. The retaining tab is integral with the base wall. The tab has a lug at its free end. The retaining tab is displaceable from a first position, in which the lug restricts the removal of a card held in the channels to a second position in which a card can be inserted into and removed from the channels, via the access openings. The body of the card holder also has a hole formed therein, for attaching a key ring to the card holder.

  • Patent number: 5016796
Abstract: A holder for a right triangular speed square, having a transverse flange extending along one side, includes a pair of side panels disposed in spaced, parallel relation which define a hollow interior having front, rear and bottom openings in the form of elongated slots. An inclined rear wall connects the side panels and separates the rear and bottom openings. Apertures in the side panels cooperate with rivets to secure the holder to a carpenter's apron. The rear wall abuts a side of the speed square forming the hypotenuse. An elongated, rectangular tubular portion formed along top edges of the side panels possesses a floor with a central opening communicating with the hollow interior portion and defining aligned, opposed, spaced ledge members which abut the transverse flange. A pair of upstanding tabs disposed on the ledge members adjacent the front opening, on opposite sides of the central opening, engage a leading edge of the transverse flange.

The lid has a recessed segment with a peripheral configuration generally approximating the peripheral configuration of the compartment defined within the base. A raised section can be provided in the lid to overlie a section of the base outside the compartment so that utensils of differing mean diameter can be located in the base to be contacted by the raised/lowered segments to hold the utensils in position. Guide strips can be provided within the compartment to orient drawing or other utensils within the compartment. Latches can be provided on the lid along a side other than the hinged side to retain the lid in closed position, and a lock hasp can be provided to allow the unit to be locked.
