  • Patent number: 8499936
Abstract: A lockable product package assembly containing an outer sleeve and an inner tray slidably engaged within the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve includes a tray locking recess disposed in an inner surface of a first wall of the outer sleeve. The inner tray includes a product portion with a protruding release button and a locking portion integrally connected to the product portion. The locking portion of the tray is configured to engage with the tray locking recess in the outer sleeve, so as to prevent sliding movement of the tray relative to the sleeve, when the inner tray is fully inserted into the outer sleeve. To release the tray, the protruding release-button on the inner tray is depressed, which disengages the locking portion of the tray from the locking recess in the outer sleeve, so as to permit sliding movement of the tray relative to said outer sleeve.

Abstract: Containers and methods for disposing unused pharmaceutical product are disclosed. Each container (100, 200, 300) may include a container body (104, 204, 304) with an internal chamber (116, 216, 316) for storing pharmaceutical product, along with a cover (124, 224, 324) for selectively limiting access to the chamber (116, 216, 316). An encapsulation component (128, 228, 328) may be selectively disposable within the chamber (116, 216, 316), and may be operable to encapsulate the pharmaceutical product within the container (100, 200, 300). For instance, the encapsulation component (128, 228, 328) may melt and/or flow into contact with the pharmaceutical product and thereafter solidify to encapsulate the pharmaceutical product. The encapsulation component (128, 228, 328) may melt and thereafter solidify between the cover (124, 224, 324) and shell (104, 204, 304) to limit removal of the cover (124, 224, 324) from the shell (104, 204, 304).

  • Patent number: 8479921
Abstract: A child and bite resistant package having a tray and a plurality of spaced apart cavities that are formed therein is provided. A sheet material overlies the tray such that a product disposed in a cavity is enclosed and sealed therein. The sheet material includes a plurality of zones of weakening that are each disposed above a corresponding cavity. Each of the zones of weakening is formed by a plurality of microperforations that are formed in the sheet material. The plurality of microperforations, and hence, each zone of weakening covers from about 5 to 90% of the surface area of the sheet material that overlies each of the individual compartments. To access a product, the product is pushed against the lidding in the zone of weakness with sufficient force to rupture the lidding. Since the majority of the surface area above each compartment is non-rupturable, the compartments are difficult to access by a child by either hand manipulation or biting.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a very low-dosed dosage form for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). More particularly, the present invention concerns a solid oral dosage form comprising about 0.5 mg estradiol and about 0.25 mg drospirenone, and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. Despite the very low E2 and DRSP doses it has surprisingly been found that a high proportion of the women suffering from moderate to severe hot flushes actually respond to this treatment. Accordingly, the dosage form of the invention may be used as maintenance HRT or may be used already when HRT is initiated.
