Abstract: A device for storing and transporting a tooth includes a basket having two halves, each half including at least one net. When the halves of the basket are in abutment, the nets together form one or more compartments capable of holding a tooth. The basket is inserted into a container holding a cell preserving solution. The container is then sealed, and can then be stored or transported. In the case where there are multiple nets in each half, the teeth are stored in multiple separate compartments, and do not impinge against each other, or against the walls of the container, during storage or transportation. The stored teeth can later be used to recover cells, including stem cells, for medical use.

Abstract: To provide a container for a fixture capable of preventing rotation of a fixture in a container when an implanting instrument is engaged with the fixture, easily engaging them, and easily taking out the fixture, the container to house a fixture X for a dental implant is made to have a main body 1 with one end having a fixture insert port 1a and the other end being closed to house the fixture X, a cap attached on the fixture insert port 1a side of the main body, and a rotation-preventing projection part 3 provided at the opposite side to the fixture insert port 1a side in the main body 1 to prevent rotation of the fixture X is housed while being engaged with a self tapping groove Xb of a top end of a male screw part of the fixture X.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a container for the collection and temporary storage of amalgams and other mercury wastes. The container can include a hollow body with air-tight lid, and one or more mercury sorbents contained in a filter bag. The filter bag covers the inside surface of the hollow body and has holes that allow air exchange between the air in the hollow body and the sorbents. As air exchange occurs, mercury vapors released from dental wastes binds to the mercury binding materials. A self-closing door was made on the lid, which automatically closes after each waste disposal.

Abstract: A multi-phase dentifrice composition comprising at least two visually distinct phases wherein the visually distinct phases are packaged in a generally transparent container, at least one phase is in physical contact with another phase, at least one visually distinct phase is generally transparent, and the visually distinct phases form alternating bands wherein at least one band is oriented in a direction not parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container or at least one band is oriented in a direction not parallel to the direction that the composition is dispensed from the container.

Abstract: An oral care package includes a primary package for containing an oral composition and having a first window and a secondary package at least partially encompassing the primary package and having a second window, wherein the first and second windows are positioned on the respective first and second packages such that the oral composition contained within the primary package is visible through the first and second windows. A method of displaying an oral composition, comprising forming a primary package for holding an oral composition, forming a first window in the primary package, forming a secondary package, forming a second window in the secondary package, placing an oral composition within a reservoir of the primary package, and positioning the primary package at least partially inside the secondary package such that the oral composition is visible through the first and second windows.

Abstract: An interdental brush package comprises a plurality of interdental brushes, each having a handle and bristles connected to the handle; a container; the container including a pocket disposed at a bottom portion thereof; and the container including a backing extending from the pocket. The handles are disposed in the pocket and the bristles overlie the backing. A cover overlies the bristles and the backing, the cover having one end portion being receivable within the pocket.

Abstract: A container which is not bulky at the time of shipping and can be stably stood on a suitable place. The container includes a lid member for closing a take-out opening (brittle portion) of the container body 2. On the lower outer side of the container body, there are formed slits for fitting the lid member to the container body after the container body and the lid member are separated apart, and auxiliary leg portions that protrude outward of the container body. The lid member is forming holding leg portions that protrude outward therefrom. Wing portions of the holding leg portions are inserted in the slits to fit the lid member to the container body, and the erected attitude of the container body is supported by the holding leg portions.

Abstract: A dental floss container is provided that may include a container that defines a fluid chamber. A hygienic fluid can be present and may be disposed in the fluid chamber of the container. A spool of dental floss is located in the fluid chamber and engages the hygienic fluid. The spool of dental floss may have a center axis that is oriented in the vertical direction.

Abstract: The present invention provides multi-layer adhesives and methods that are useful for bonding orthodontic appliances to a tooth structure. The multi-layer adhesives can be precoated on an orthodontic appliance, or alternatively, they can be provided on an adhesive delivery system for transfer to an orthodontic appliance. The multi-layer adhesives and methods preferably provide a useful balance of properties for bonding orthodontic appliances to the tooth structure.

Abstract: An arrangement comprises bottle-shaped containers (3) containing various substances for construction and coloring of dental components. The containers are arranged in sector-shaped units which comprise containers with substances belonging to an allocated group of shades. The containers/substances in each respective group are further divided into user categories. Containers/substance related to a first use are placed outermost in the sector-shaped unit, a second user category is placed to the inside of the first user category, and so on. The novel arrangement enhances the efficiency of use of commercially available substances for construction of said products. Several users can use the arrangement simultaneously. The novel arrangement permits natural reproduction of the products in question.

Abstract: This invention is in a package and method of packaging ready mountable or prepasted bondable dental appliances, and particularly orthodontic brackets, wherein the appliances include a body and a base, and a layer of uncured polymer resin is applied to the base. The package includes a carrier for the bondable appliances for single or multiple appliances and enclosed in a hermetically sealed bag.

Abstract: A packaged, pre-pasted orthodontic bracket includes a container having an open well therein and a top surface surrounding the well. A cover film with a central hole is disposed over the top opening of the well and secured to the top surface of the container with a layer of adhesive. An orthodontic bracket mounted in the central hole of the cover film has a base, a central portion extending from the base, at least two opposed tie wings extending from the central portion of the bracket, and a layer of light-curable adhesive disposed on the base of the bracket. The bracket is mounted in the central hole of the cover film such that the cover film contacts the central portion of the bracket and supports the bracket with the adhesive layer and base inside the well and the tie wings outside the well.

Abstract: A dental hygiene kit is disclosed which is particularly useful for small children and traveling adults, and which includes a package having one large initially-sealed compartment for storing a handle and a plurality of smaller, initially-sealed compartments for storing disposable pre-pasted brush heads. The compartments are sterile in the initially seated condition. The handle comprises a fork and with two spaced-apart shaped prongs. Each brush head comprises a plurality of bristles connected to a body. The bristles are coated with toothpaste thereby avoiding wasted toothpaste and mess. Each brush head body comprises a shaped hole with sidewalls for frictionally and releasably receiving the prongs of the handle. After each use, the brush heads are discarded. The disclosed kit helps children learn good brushing habits while avoiding wasted and swallowed toothpaste.

Abstract: A dual-chamber package for the constituent materials for preparing an alginate dental impression paste includes a first chamber containing a pre-measured volume of water, and a second chamber, attached to and isolated from, the first chamber, and containing a pre-measured quantity of alginate powder, wherein the quantity of powder and the volume of water are in a pre-determined ratio for making a dental impression paste when mixed together. The powder and the water may be mixed outside of the package by dispensing the water and the powder respectively from the first and second chambers. Alternatively, the powder and water may be mixed within the second chamber by breaching a barrier between the first and second chambers to allow water to flow from the first chamber into the second chamber, after which the alginate dental impression paste is dispensed from the second chamber.

Abstract: A package for a dental product, in particular for a prosthetic structure, has several product-receiving recesses which are formed in a product holder from the direction of the top face thereof. The product-receiving recesses are each spanned by a pull-off strip which is defined by a weakening and can be detached from a remaining area of a self-adhesive film affixed to the top face of the product holder. Applied to each pull-off strip there is a reference which identifies a product held in the product-receiving recess spanned by the pull-off strip.

Abstract: Packages for dispensing dental appliances of the type used in corrective orthodontic treatments, methods of using such packages, and methods of manufacturing such packages. The package generally includes a holder and drawers containing the dental appliances that are removable from the package. The characteristics of the dental appliances positioned in each individual drawer are appropriate for application to different quadrants of the patient's teeth. The drawers of the package may be color coded with regions on a setup card so that the dental appliances, while remaining positioned in the drawers, may be organized among the regions according to the intended quadrants for bracket application. Other color coding schemes are possible involving the drawers, the brackets held by the drawers, the setup card, and the brackets themselves.

Abstract: A tray for dispensing a material to be applied with an applicator having a plurality of applicator support openings. The applicator support openings have a depth and width sufficient so that when an applicator is placed therein, it is held substantially upright. The material and applicator support wells may be funnel shaped. The relatively deep narrow funnel shape protects the material placed therein from ambient light, contamination, evaporation, and spilling. The invention is particularly well suited to use in a dental procedure that may require the application of multiple different materials or materials that react with one another or that are light activated. The plurality of different material wells are readily identifiable and keep the different materials separate and ready for use.

Abstract: An interdental brush package comprises a plurality of interdental brushes, each having a handle and bristles connected to the handle; a container; the container including a pocket disposed at a bottom portion thereof; and the container including a backing extending from the pocket. The handles are disposed in the pocket and the bristles overlie the backing. A cover overlies the bristles and the backing, the cover having one end portion being receivable within the pocket.

The device comprises a container comprising a first and a second film which form at least one first chamber for receiving a first substance and a recess that is separated from the chamber and serves to remove the first substance. The separation area between the recess and the first chamber is provided with a passage area that can be opened in a selective manner. The first chamber contains at least one additional container.

Abstract: The invention concerns two distinct components related to dental hygiene. The first is a dental hygiene carrying case that has been specially designed to hold various dental supplies. The second part of the invention is a holster unit that is used to support (hold) the carrying case.

Abstract: The invention provides methods, apparatus and kits for regenerating dental tissue in vivo that are useful for treating a variety of dental conditions, exemplified by treatment of caries. The invention uses tissue scaffold wafers, preferably made of PGA, PLLA, PDLLA or PLGA dimensioned to fit into a hole of corresponding sized drilled into the tooth of subject to expose dental pulp in vivo. In certain embodiments the tissue scaffold wafer further comprises calcium phosphate and fluoride. The tissue scaffold wafer may be secured into the hole with a hydrogel, a cement or other suitable material. Either the wafer or the hydrogel or both contain a morphogenic agent, such as a member encoded by the TGF-? supergene family, that promotes regeneration and differentiation of healthy dental tissue in vivo, which in turn leads to remineralization of dentin and enamel. The tissue scaffold may further include an antibiotic or anti-inflammatory agent.

Abstract: A sterilization system for dental and orthodontic tools is provided with a transport rack dimensionally sized to hold a plurality interchangeable cassettes. The interchangeable cassettes are designed and intended to hold kits of dental or orthodontic tools and are provided with top opening, double-hinged covers which lay flat on the surface when opened and used at a dental workstation.

Abstract: A tooth care device, a kit for a tooth care device and an associated method of using same are described for providing a convenient and hygienic way of transporting and using a tooth care product. The device includes a base, a gelcap, and a cover. The base has a plurality of hollow wells in which each gelcap is sequestered within each hollow well of the base. Each gelcap has an outer shell and an inner toothpaste core. The cover is attached over the base so that the plurality of gelcaps is hermetically sealed within the device. The kit includes the device and a toothbrush. The method includes the steps of bending, brushing, expectorating, grasping, inserting, obtaining, pealing, placing, pinching, pressing, removing, rinsing, taking, transporting, tearing, and withdrawing.

Abstract: A kit of dental sub-kits for use in placing a dental post in a prepared recess (e.g., a root canal) of a person's tooth. The kit includes a tray having an interior recess configured to removably receive therein a plurality of individual dental sub-kits. Each sub-kit may have an associated color, number, letter, or other marking to distinguish it from at least one other sub-kit within the kit. The color or marking associated with each sub-kit identifies the size of components contained within the sub-kit. Each sub-kit includes a finishing drill and one or more permanent dental posts. Each sub-kit may optionally include a starter drill and/or a dental post analog. Each sub-kit and its contents may be disposable or autoclavable.

Abstract: The invention relates to the use of ions of weakly basic oxides as linking ions for polyacids in cements, preferably polyelectrolyte cements. Suitable ions comprise elements of the scandium series, for example, Sc3+, Y3+, La3+, Ce4+ and all subsequent tri- and tetra-valent lanthanides and the ions Mg2+, Zn2+, Ga2+, In2+. The application of said ions permits a regulation of the cement reaction without surface treatment of the glass powder.

Abstract: An orthodontic set-up tray includes at least two sections, and each section includes at least one receptacle for receiving an orthodontic appliance. A coupling movably connects the sections together to enable relative movement between the sections. The coupling advantageously permits the overall size of the set-up tray to be reduced or enlarged as may be desired by the practitioner. Optionally, the coupling is a releasable coupling that enables the sections to be detached from one another.

Abstract: A medical implant package including a vial and a cap connected by a hinge. The vial includes a cavity for housing at least a portion of a dental implant. To access the implant, the cap is rotated about the hinge from a closed position to an open position. The cap defines a second cavity, separate from the vial cavity, sized to contain a healing screw. In one embodiment, the cap includes two portions connected by a living hinge which define the second cavity. The two cap portions, when moved relative to each other via the living hinge, permit access to the healing screw. In an alternative embodiment, the cap includes two retention members sized and configured to grip the healing screw. To remove the healing screw from the cap, the two retention members are displaced apart from each other by engaging them with a wedge extending from the vial.

Abstract: A storage case includes a housing including a base section and a top section pivotally connected thereto. The base section has a substantially planar bottom surface for receiving an oral care device thereon and further has an outer wall integral with the base section and extending upwardly therefrom. The top section includes a compartment including a door pivotally connected thereto. Such a compartment is spaced from the bottom surface when the housing is adapted to a closed position. A plurality of sanitizing towelettes are stored within the compartment and are selectively removable therefrom. Such towelettes are impregnated with predetermined artificial flavors for providing a pleasant taste after the oral care device is wiped between uses thereof.

Abstract: Apparatus for use in indirect bonding of orthodontic appliances includes a container having a chamber and a placement device received in the chamber. At least one orthodontic appliance is releasably connected to the placement device and has a base with a contour that is a replica of a portion of the patient's tooth structure. A bonding composition for bonding the appliance to the patient's tooth structure is applied to the base before the container is closed by the manufacturer, such that the practitioner can simply remove the placement device from the chamber and immediately transfer the appliances to the patient's teeth.

Abstract: A multi-purpose toothbrush for promoting oral hygiene includes an elongated shaft having a brushing section that includes a plurality of bristles extending radially outwardly therefrom. The brushing section is coated with a predetermined quantity of a tooth-cleaning agent that is activatable via water. The shaft further includes an accessory dispensing section integral with a gripping section and oppositely spaced from the brushing section for providing dental floss and mouthwash. A plurality of protective wrappers are removably positioned about the toothbrush for maintaining same in a substantially sanitary condition during non-use conditions.

Abstract: A dental material delivery system includes an applicator having a proximal segment, a median bending segment and a tip; an elongated handle; and a cap. The proximal segment of the applicator is nonremovably frictionally mounted within a proximal bore section of the handle, the median bending segment of the applicator is aligned generally longitudinally with an annular weakened wall line of the handle, and the tip of the applicator extends into a distal bore section of the handle. A quantity of dental material is disposed within the distal section of the handle. The cap is mounted to the handle adjacent the distal end of the handle to seal the handle. The wall of the handle is separable at the annular weakened wall line to permit withdrawal of the applicator tip and transfer of the dental material to a surface.

Abstract: A dental tray assembly for storage of oral prosthetics includes a base and a cover, associated with the base and being configured to be alternately positioned relative to the base in a first, closed position, and a second, open position. A biasing element interconnects the base and the cover to provide a biasing force between the cover and the base, the biasing force varying with position of the cover relative to the base to provide an attractive force between the cover and the base when the cover is in the first, closed position, and a repellant force between the cover and the base when the cover is in the second, open position. A storage tray is nestable within the base, the storage tray including at least two compartments, each compartment being configured to receive and store an oral prosthetic therein.

Abstract: A device for storing and applying material, especially dental material, comprises a first zone comprising a first and a second film that define at least one first chamber that receives a first substance, and a pouch separated from the chamber for withdrawing the first substance. The separation between the pouch and the first chamber is provided with a through opening that can be selectively opened. The device further comprises a second zone with a second chamber that is not linked with the first section by way of a through opening that can be selectively opened.

Abstract: A medical instrument holder assembly comprises a holder module base including first tubes defining first passages, each first passage having open upper and lower ends, at least one first web connecting and supporting those first tubes in parallel spaced-apart relation so that a fluid can circulate around and between the first tubes, and instrument supports underlying the first tubes for supporting medical instruments placed in the first passages while allowing a fluid to circulate through those passages. The holder assembly also includes a cover for seating on the base and covering the instruments supported thereby, the cover being formed by second tubes defining second instrument receiving passages, each second passage having upper and lower open ends, the lower ends having the same cross-sections as the upper ends of the first passages.

A removable cover is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a unit dose treatment product comprising: a) a sealed disposable package comprising a laminate wherein the laminate comprises; i) an aluminium barrier layer; and ii) a polymer contact layer selected from polypropylene, polyamide and nylon 12; b) a liquid treatment product contained within the package, wherein the liquid treatment product comprises: i) a film-forming polymer; ii) an organic solvent for the film-forming polymer having a boiling point of less than 150° C. and a solubility parameter of less than 22 (MPa)0.5; and iii) an active agent; wherein the polymer contact layer of the laminate is in contact with the liquid treatment product. Kits comprising the unit dose treatment products and methods of treating the tissues of the oral cavity employing the unit dose treatment products are also provided. The products, kits and methods herein provide for convenient oral treatments, especially tooth whitening treatments using an extended regimen.

Abstract: Disclosed is a device and method for use in the dental implant industry. Generally, the device relates to packaging systems for dental implants that are capable of storing implants of different lengths and varying diameters. An embodiment of the package may be composed of a vial for housing a cushion. Located on the cushion is a sleeve for housing at least a portion of a dental implant. The sleeve and implant are covered by a sleeve cap whereby the sleeve cap is constructed to hold a healing screw. The packaging system also includes a lid for covering the healing screw.

Abstract: An assembly for securing a dental implant assembly within a package. The assembly comprises a collet that includes at least one lever arm, which defines at least in part, an angular surface and an opening for receiving the dental implant assembly. The assembly also includes a vial that defines a cavity in which the collet is positioned and a complementary angular surface that is configured such that, when the complementary angular surface moves with respect to the collet, the complementary angular surface pushes on the angular surface so as to reduce the diameter of the opening.

Abstract: A device for cleaning endodontic files and indicating flaws in endodontic files comprises a foam core contained in a housing and a covering overlaying the core through which a file is inserted into the device. A method for cleaning endodontic files using the device comprises the steps of inserting a file into the device and withdrawing the file. A method for detecting flaws in a file, includes the steps for cleaning the file and then examining the file for debris from the endodontic procedure adhering to the file which indicates the presence and location of damage to the file.

Abstract: The invention provides a package for a prepasted orthodontic bracket that includes a cover having a hollow projection thereon and a lateral flange extending from and surrounding an open end of the projection, and a base having a flat upper surface. An orthodontic bracket having a layer of light-curable paste thereon is placed with the paste layer in contact with a flat upper surface of the base. The bracket is surrounded by and spaced from the cover. Each of the cover and base are opaque to visible light and actinic radiation. The cover, or both cover and base, comprise a bilayered plastic structure including a first plastic layer containing particles of an opaque filler in an amount effective to render the first layer opaque to visible light, and a second plastic layer containing an effective amount of an actinic blocking agent.

Abstract: Package and method of packaging ready mountable bondable dental appliances wherein the appliances include a body and a base, the base consisting of a cured layer of polymer resin and an uncured layer of polymer resin that may be light-curable or chemically curable. Abstract: A kit of medical tools for removing screws from a patient in surgical procedures, including both the kit and the method of arranging the kit and its bits and tools. There are two removable trays in a container, one for the bits and one for the tools, and the trays stack upon the other in the container. Abstract: Photopolymerizable compositions comprise a cationically polymerizable resin and a photoinitiator system comprising: (i) an iodonium salt; (ii) a visible light sensitizer; and (iii) an electron donor compound having an oxidation potential less than that of 1,4-dimethoxybenzene when measured versus a saturated calomel electrode, wherein the photoinitiator system has a photoinduced potential of less than that of 3-dimethylaminobenzoic acid in a standard solution of 2.9×10−5 moles/g diphenyl iodonium hexafluoroantimonate and 1.5×10−5 moles/g camphorquinone in 2-butanone. The compositions polymerize on exposure to light in the visible spectrum and are useful in a variety of applications, including dental adhesives and dental composites.

The kit may also include a delivery device, e.g., a syringe, or a storage device for storing the restorative composition.

Abstract: A storage and mixing capsule 10 for separately storing a pair of ingredients therein and providing a structure for efficiently and reliably mixing the ingredients to form an amalgam. The capsule has two components: a first receptacle 12 and a second receptacle 14. The first receptacle 12 includes an interior compartment 16 for receiving an alloy and includes a piercing element 24 attached to a portion of the inner wall 26. The second receptacle 14 includes an interior compartment 30 for receiving mercury. The second receptacle 14 further includes a rupturable seal 38 disposed across the open bottom end 36 of the second receptacle 14. The capsule 10 further includes a conduit 54 extending from the capsule 10 which is used as a passageway for air to move from the interior of the capsule 10 to the exterior of the capsule 10 or for an inert gas to move from the exterior of the capsule 10 to the interior of the capsule 10 to create an interior atmosphere which prevents the oxidization of amalgam components.

Abstract: A dental care kit assembly having a plurality of operative components such as one or more dental floss assemblies and a cleaning implement located within separated areas or compartments of a container. The container has a substantially flat, predetermined, reduced size configuration, closely corresponding to the size of a conventional credit card thereby enabling it to be conveniently carried on the person of a user. The reduced size container and the various components contained therein may be structured to be disposable after a single or a limited number of uses or alternatively may be of a more permanent structure capable of being used over a more extended period of time.
