On Interior Of Hollow Drumlike Body (e.g., Tube, Etc.) Rotatable About Longitudinal Axis Thereof Patents (Class 209/687)
  • Patent number: 8747771
Abstract: A pressure vessel and a drum rotatably arranged inside which has an inner space for material that is introduced into the pressure vessel. In various embodiments, a drive mechanism rotates the drum in relation to the pressure vessel. The drive mechanism can include a motor that can be located inside the pressure vessel in an interspace between the drum and the pressure vessel. Some embodiments include a door to close an opening of the pressure vessel and a part of the door can extend into an open end of the drum when the door is closed to keep the material in the drum and out of the interspace. In particular embodiments, a steam supply conduit extends into the drum at the closed end of the pressure vessel. In some embodiments, a helical agitation blade in the drum moves the material away from or toward the opening.

  • Patent number: 7845498
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for removing heavy metals such as gold from sand. A mixture of sand and metals is placed in a hollow tube which has an open end, an opposite closed end at a relatively lower position, an exterior, and an interior formed into spiral grooves. The grooves are arranged in a helical fashion so that metal caught in the grooves is carried toward the open end of the tube as the tube is rotated. Water is supplied to the tube to mix with the sand and metal, so that rotation of the tube causes relatively heavy metal to be washed from the sand and water mixture into the grooves. The mechanism can be transported to a location where heavy metals naturally occur in sand or other materials.

  • Patent number: 6889851
Abstract: A bar screen is primarily intended for use in draining liquid from wood chips and pulp without blocking the bar screen. The area of use is especially a process area, in which cooking and circulation liquid is removed from a pressure vessel when making chemical pulp and paper pulp by continuous method. This type of bar screen is characterized in that behind the filtering gap of the screen bars, there is a flow space in which the liquid flows towards a discharge outlet. By adjusting the flow space, a flow rate of liquid which stops blocking due to accumulation is maintained in the background. The sturdiness of the screen structure is improved by adjustable support taps.

  • Patent number: 6244445
Abstract: A hollow rotating drum 1 is provided in an oblique manner and is rotated by two pairs of rollers 3a, 3b. A size classification unit 2 is provided in the vicinity of a center of the rotating drum in a lengthwise direction of the drum, and water is added from a water addition unit 4. An object to be moisturized is supplied from an opening on an upper portion of the rotating drum in a supplying direction 5 of the object. Then, the object is moved spirally within the rotating drum to be moisturized. An object, i.e., a moisture-processed substance having a size equal to or smaller than the predetermined size is classified by the size classification unit to be continuously discharged in a direction 6 of movements of the moisture-processed substance. Also, an object, i.e., residue having a larger size than the predetermined size, is continuously discharged from an opening on an underside of the rotating drum in a direction 7 of movements of the residue.

  • Patent number: 4533054
Abstract: Solid waste incinerator fuel is preclassified by passing it through a hollow rotating cylindrical drum which has two sets of extensions from the wall going lengthwise along the length of the drum, the first set toward one end and the second toward the other, the second set being shorter or smaller-sized than the first and the first preferably having rodlike projections which may have at least partly knifelike or bladelike ends or edges at the axial or inner ends thereof. The first set of extensions homogenizes the incoming waste by lifting, dropping, churning, and ripping it as well as fluffing it. The second set of extensions, preferably angled, lifts smaller sized heavier, non-combustible particles to the upper part of the drum from which they are removed at the exit end. The lighter material, mostly combustibles such as paper, textiles and wood, for example, is discharged toward the bottom of the exit end of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4415088
Abstract: A machine for hulled grain employs a single horizontally disposed rotating hollow cylindrical body having its interior surface covered with a multiplicity of recesses designed to scoop up individual hulled grains at the bottom and to drop them out near the top. A partition separates the body into two compartments and two troughs containing screw conveyors extend the length of the cylindrical body and an arrangement of longitudinally extending plates are combined with the partition so that in the first compartment one of the conveying troughs brings the grains from a huller to the far end of the compartment while the other conveying trough catches the dropped grains and carries them to the far end of the second compartment and discharges them at that point to the bottom of the cylindrical body for re-sorting while the first conveying trough in the second compartment catches the re-sorted grains as they drop from above and carries them on to be discharged at the far end of the cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 4392421
Abstract: A rice hulling and sorting machine includes a pair of hulling rolls which drop husked rice grains into a pneumatic sorting compartment which the husks are preliminary sorted from the rice grains; the rice grains thereafter being thrown upwardly into one end of the upper of two horizontally mounted rotating sorting cylinders. The interior surfaces of these cylinders have a multitude of recesses for trapping single rice grains at the bottom of their circumferential paths of movement to carry them upwardly and dropping them into conveying troughs which run the length of the interiors of the cylinders. Rice grains which are not trapped in the upper cylinder are fed back into the hulling rolls while those dropped into the upper trough are fed to the lower interior of the lower cylinder where they are again subject to being trapped in the recesses of the lower cylinder and dropped into the lower conveyor trough.

  • Patent number: 4258851
Abstract: Herein described is a machine for removing raisins spoiled by mold from good raisins. An angularly disposed rotating screened cylinder causes raisins to be lifted and dropped to the bottom of the cylinder. Because of the fact that the bad raisins are soft and sticky they will stick to the screen. Good raisins will be tumbled towards the bottom of the screened cylinder and out. Spray nozzles force water through the screened cylinder washing the stuck raisins into a trough where they are kept separate from the good raisins.
