Abstract: A filter cartridge for use in filtering fluids, for example fuel, lubrication, hydraulic and other liquids, as well as air. The filter cartridge is a filter-in-filter design with an inner filter and an outer filter. The inner filter and the outer filter, for example the bottom end plates thereof, are connected to each other via a snap fit connection mechanism. During manufacture, the inner filter can be inserted into the outer filter, with the snap fit connection mechanism retaining the inner filter in the outer filter.

  • Patent number: 7857971
Abstract: The present invention describes a fuel filter assembly useful in the purification of fuels such as diesel, gasoline, jet fuel, kerosene, heating oil and similar liquids. The fuel filter assembled herein described separates solids and semisolids particulates such as algae, microbial growth, fungi and the like from fuel, providing a much cleaner fuel to secondary fuel system, engine and fuel consuming devices. The said fuel filtering assembly comprises a removable lid mounted at the top of an upright vertical housing, a non-disposable removable filter unit enclosed in the internal cavity of the said housing and a multi-purpose base comprising fuel inlet and fuel outlet as internal passages within the said base.

  • Patent number: 7824550
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel filter through which the fuel is to flow, in which water-separating, permeable layers are arranged spaced apart from one another in the direction of flow upstream of the filter layer, each time during operation of the filter the free space that lies between the two layers is connected to a first water collecting space, lying on the bottom of the filter, the first water collecting space lies below both the filter layer and the two permeable layers, is intended to permit a high degree of water separation. For this purpose, such a fuel filter is distinguished by the fact that the filter tube space lying upstream of the layer that is flowed through first of the two layers is connected to a second water collecting space within the filter, the assignment of which to the filter layer on the one hand and to the two permeable layers on the other hand coincides with that of the first water collecting space with respect to these components.

Abstract: A pre-filter assembly is for use in a skimmer of a residential swimming pool. The pre-filter comprises a skimmer collar and a cleanable filter basket. The skimmer collar is for placement on a rim of a below water surface opening within the skimmer. The cleanable filter basket is made of a water porous material. The filter basket is permanently secured at an edge defining the open-top to the skimmer collar. The filter basket further has a chevron shape for ease of use. Swimming water debris is trapped in the filter basket as pool water is pulled through the filter basket on its way to a primary filter apparatus. The filter basket is easily cleaned as needed and replaced.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a membrane module including a first plurality of fibers capable of filtering fluids that are helically wound in layers creating a mono helix. Fluids to be treated can flow radially with respect to a longitudinal axis of the mono helix or parallel to the longitudinal axis of the mono helix. The membrane module can further include a second plurality of fibers that are helically wound with the first plurality of fibers to create a dual helix. The second plurality of fibers can have different properties than the first plurality of fibers in order to achieve different filtering functionalities.

  • Patent number: 7749383
Abstract: A filter cartridge in a filter-in-filter design with an inner filter and an outer filter. A mechanism, for example crush ribs, connects an upper end plate of the outer filter and an upper end plate of the inner filter to prevent relative axial and radial movement therebetween when assembled. Relative axial or radial motion can create a rattling noise which is sometimes perceived as a low quality filter. The crush ribs are, for example, formed on an interior surface of the upper end plate of the outer filter, and the ribs engage an outer perimeter of the upper end plate of the inner filter. One or more of the ribs crush when the inner filter is installed into the outer filter to ensure tight axial and radial engagement between the filters.
