Noncoiled Nonannular Cross Section Tube Patents (Class 210/321.73)
  • Patent number: 11083998
Abstract: A corrugated membrane plate and frame module for use in fluid treatment applications is disclosed, where the corrugated design increases production capacity of a module by more than 200% as compared to conventional modules. The increase is achieved by tripling the membrane packing density per module using an optimized corrugated design. The disclosed corrugated membrane plate and frame also reduces the inactive membrane area per module, which is caused by deactivation of membranes edges attached to the plate and frame core in order to prevent leakage.

Abstract: The present application includes a system and method that introduces a rather new and unique approach to desalinating or recovering energy from hyper saline waters. The system includes a flat sheet membrane panel assembly including a plurality of membranes laid flat. A plurality of end caps are coupled to the plurality of membranes on opposing ends. A frame is configured to house the plurality of membranes and the plurality of end caps. The frame includes a top and bottom header to secure the membranes and permit the passage of fluid away from the membranes. The method includes subjecting a flat sheet membrane to pressurized untreated fluid. The fluid passes through a porous portion of a frame and is filtered by one or more flat sheet membranes. The treated fluid is collected and the brine is discharged. Pressure of the fluid is regulated to maintain consistent levels.

Abstract: A novel separator assembly for a spiral flow reverse osmosis apparatus is provided. In one embodiment, the separator assembly comprises a central core element comprising at least two permeate exhaust conduits and not comprising a concentrate exhaust conduit. Each permeate exhaust conduit defines an exhaust channel and one or more openings allowing fluid communication between an exterior surface of the permeate exhaust conduit and the exhaust channel, said permeate exhaust conduits independently defining a cavity between said conduits. The cavity is configured to accommodate a first portion of a membrane stack assembly comprising at least one feed carrier layer, at least two permeate carrier layers, and at least two membrane layers. A first portion of the membrane stack assembly is disposed within the cavity, and a second portion of the membrane stack assembly is wound around the central core element and forms a multilayer membrane assembly disposed around the central core element.

  • Patent number: 6841068
Abstract: A domestic nanofiltration membrane based water purifier without a storage tank. The water purifier according to the present invention uses a nanofiltration membrane filter as a main filtering section and does not have a storage tank for containment of purified water. Although conventional reverse osmosis membrane based water purification systems provide good quality water, they have problems in that installation of the storage tanks due to insufficient flow rate results in the increased volumes of water purifiers, and at the same time, secondary pollution may be caused by microorganism propagation upon prolonged storage. In this regard, the present invention provides a domestic nanofiltration membrane based water purifier without a storage tank, in which a nanofiltration membrane filter with a pore size of approximately 0.1 to 10 nm is used as a main filtering section.

  • Publication number: 20030150790
Abstract: The filtering membranes of the present invention are made from a pair of polymer films stretched in a liquid surface-active medium for the formation of crazes filled with the aforementioned medium. The crazed films are perforated and then stack together in a stretched or released state and are welded together into a sealed structure with a plurality of parallel welding seams arranged, e.g., in mutually perpendicular directions, so that a plurality of sealed cells is formed. The cells have on one side of the membrane input openings and on the other side output openings. If an input opening is in one cell, then an output opening is in the adjacent cell. Adjacent cells are interconnected only through the welding seams. Welding can be carried out by contact heating or with the use of a laser beam, or the like. The material of the welding seam has an amorphous structure.
