  • Patent number: 9022223
Abstract: A compact, piston-driven water filtration system with annular cleaning device/brush. The filter apparatus operates based on a piston-driven pressure system where the piston is threadably mated to a water reservoir. Threading of the piston forces a sleeve connected thereto within the reservoir to force water through any suitable water filter (e.g. carbon-based, ceramic, micro- and/or nano-membrane materials) on the opposite side of the reservoir from the threadably-mated piston within the reservoir. The sleeve connected to the piston within the interior of the reservoir includes a cleaning device (e.g., brush, scraper, pad, etc.) on a distal end of the sleeve inside the water reservoir. The annular brush has an inner diameter smaller than that of the sleeve, such that as the piston is threaded into and out of the reservoir, the sleeve moves toward, over, and away from the filter, and the brush scrapes/scrubs/cleans the exterior of the filter for cleansing.

Abstract: An inclined mesh panel type filtering apparatus capable of easily removing suspended solids from water. In a conventional apparatus, a filtration fabric is contaminated from use even when it is cleaned by a brush unit or a cleaning unit, and is almost clogged, in the course of one to two years after being put into operation, to such an extent that scale is not even removed even by additional manual cleaning. Thus, the entire apparatus should be disassembled to replace the filtration fabric with a new one or exchange an entire filter drum. This problem is resolved by the inclined mesh panel type filtering apparatus that can be continuously operated for a long time in which a filtration panel formed with fine openings having a typical size of 0.2 to 1.2 mm is not clogged and does not require high-pressure cleaning-water or air showers that consume high energy.

Abstract: A system for filtering and sampling, preferably but not exclusively, of oil drilling mud for the purpose of analyzing the gaseous component contained in debris produced by well-drilling and transported by said mud. The system is provided with a filtering surface developed in three dimensions and with various methods for cleaning the filtering surface with which any contact is avoided between the cleaner and the filtering surface. This prevents further and excessive incrustations of debris on the meshes of the filter and avoids an undesirable passage of air in the aspiration pipe when the filter is partially immersed.

Abstract: A filter device for the insertion of filter elements (28) to be positioned in a filter housing (10) having a filter inlet (20) and a filter outlet (22) for the fluid to be filtered. The filter elements (28) are traversed in both directions for filtration or backwashing. Certain filter elements (28) perform the filtration in a filtration position and at least one additional filter element (28) can be backwashed in a backwashing position to clean its active filtration surface. As the individual filter elements (28) are brought into the backwashing position and are then returned to their filtration position in succession by a pivoting device (30), the filter elements are individually displaced into the backwashing position in a temporal sequence, in contrast to prior art, where an arm-type backwashing device is pivoted towards the individual filter elements to carry out the backwashing process.

Abstract: A screen cleaning apparatus for use, for example, in connection with a discharge conduit of a sewage pumping station, may include a housing, a screen, a rake and a float. The housing may operate to contain a fluid (and/or define a container for the other components) and include a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. The screen may be positioned in the housing and define one or more apertures. The rake may also be positioned in the housing and have one or more protrusions, with each protrusion extending into a respective aperture in the screen. The float may apply a force to the rake so that the rake moves relative to the screen and in dependence upon variations of a volume of fluid received in the housing. Accordingly, the rake may rise and fall will the fluid level to remove debris from the screen.
