  • Patent number: 8011515
Abstract: A device including a hollow cylindrical body, first and second stationary coaxial annular screening screens disposed within the body, and a rotor within the body and positioned between the screens to conduct the slurry through the first screen and then through the second screen, the rotor being driven in rotation. The pulp slurry passes through a central entry pipe, radially outward and then upward along the inside of the rotor, further inward through a coarse screen cylinder, and then around the end of the rotor to pass between the outer surface of the rotor and the inner surface of a fine screen cylinder. The pulp slurry then finally passes outward through the fine screen cylinder. Coarse rejects, such as knots or other coarse material, are collected at the end of the coarse screening chamber and led away for further processing. Fine rejects are similarly collected at the end of the fine screening chamber, also to be led away separately for further processing.

Abstract: An apparatus for pneumatic cleaning of diesel particulate filters (DPF). First and second nozzle members direct flows of compressed air into the axially-extending filter cells from both ends of the filter, the nozzle members generally being offset so as to avoid blowing directly towards one another. The flows form the nozzles impinge only relatively small areas of the end faces of the filter media, e.g., only one or a few cells at a time. The nozzle members are moved over substantially the entirety of the first and second end faces, so that as cleaning progresses compressed air is directed into substantially all of the filter cells from opposite directions. The nozzles may be translated on reciprocated arms while the filter is rotated simultaneously on a turntable or rollers, so that the nozzles sweep over the whole surface of each end; other mechanisms, such as various combinations of gears or pistons, may be used for relative movement between the nozzles and filters.

  • Patent number: 7309366
Abstract: A process and apparatus for cleaning filter cake from the interior of a baghouse bag. A nozzle through which compressed gas flows is positioned on the interior of a bag such that gas is directed to, and thereby disrupts, the filter cake. The compressed gas flows in the same direction as a gas that is being filtered by the baghouse, thereby avoiding the effects of reverse-flow cleaning.

  • Patent number: 7131540
Abstract: The invention relates to a separating device, particularly for separating solids from liquids, preferably from the quantity of reverse flow of a reverse flow filter system. The separating device comprises: a spinning screen provided in the form of a drum screen (17) having an annular screen wall (21); a spray tube (15), which supplies the liquid to the drum screen (17) and which, with regard to its opening (26) to the inside of the screen wall (21) of the drum screen (17), extends in an at least approximately tangential manner thereto in order to produce a spinning flow of the liquid on the screen wall (21); a housing (19) that surrounds the drum screen (17) while serving to hold the liquid passing through said screen wall (21), and; an exit (29) located at the bottom (27) of the drum screen (17) while serving to discharge the separated substances.

  • Patent number: 7093721
Abstract: A filter assembly for removing filtrate from industrial process streams. The assembly includes a housing in which a filter element is disposed. The filter element has a surface against which the filtrate is trapped. A cleaning head to which cleaning blades are attached is disposed in the housing and removes the trapped filtrate. An actuator tube extends through the housing. Internal to the actuator tube is a first magnet. Pressurized gas is selectively applied to the ends of the actuator tube to move the first magnet in the tube. A second magnet is attached to the cleaning head. The second magnet is magnetically coupled to the first magnet so the second magnet moves with the first magnet. Thus, the movement of the first magnet is transferred by the second magnet to the clean head so the cleaning blades move against the filter element.

  • Patent number: 7086536
Abstract: A fluid filtering device includes a housing, a driving device, a filter and a scraping device. The housing has a top portion, a wall portion downwardly extending from the periphery of the top portion and an inlet disposed in the top portion to allow the entry of fluid. The driving device is disposed above the top portion. The filter is disposed near the bottom surface of the housing. The filtered fluid and the impurities are discharged through the underside and the outside, respectively, of the filter. The scraping device has a connecting element driven by the driving device, a scraping element disposed below the connecting element and abutting the upper edge the filter and a flexible element disposed between the connecting element and the scraping element and exerting a constant downward force on the scraping element. Therefore, this invention can provide a fluid filtering device that is structurally simple, may be further miniaturized and may be used in various types of places.

  • Patent number: 7073433
Abstract: A system for transporting and dewatering solids in a fluid system. An auger is used to transport solids and provide first stage compaction. A dewatering plate having a restricted opening provides second stage compaction and dewatering. The auger maybe be shafted or shaftless. First stage compaction is achieved by a change in helical pitch of the auger immediately preceding the location of the dewatering plate.

  • Patent number: 7051962
Abstract: A novel separator housed within a shell for the separations of solid and liquid components from a slurry. The separator has two stages, a first static screen and rotating brush assembly section and a second stage, with a screen and a roller press and brush assembly. The slurry is pumped into the separator through a weir box. The slurry flows into the first stage and most of the liquid component flows into a sump located below the two stages. The solid component is then directed into the second stage where the rollers squeeze remaining liquids from the solid component. The brushes then direct the remaining solid component of the slurry into a solids discharge area.

  • Patent number: 7025811
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a filter cleaning device, in particular, diesel particulate filters. In one embodiment, the device comprises a source of high pressure fluid and means to transport the fluid to a nozzle or nozzles; an actuator for moving the nozzles; a controller with logic for instructing the actuator to automatically move the nozzle or nozzles across the surface of the filter; a collection device and suction device downstream of the filter; and ducting to transport the fluid between parts of the system. In one embodiment, a second collection device is used downstream of the suction device to provide additional particulate removal. There are three methods proposed for providing high pressure cleaning fluid to the filter face: 1) rotating the filter and rotating the jet about an axis outside of the filter; 2) moving a nozzle in two perpendicular directions (i.e., x-y); and 3) rotating a rectangular nozzle about the central axis of the filter.

  • Patent number: 6976592
Abstract: A liquid/solids waste separator apparatus for use in separating animal waste or waste water into filtered liquid and collected solid waste particles. It has an elongated housing having a pair of support legs attached adjacent to the rear end of the housing for varying the inclination angle of the housing. Positioned downward from the top edge of the housing is an elongated mesh screen that extends substantially the length of the housing. A plurality of nozzles are laterally spaced from each other and connected to the top of a tube that extends transversely beneath the mesh screen. A carriage supports the opposite ends of the tube and it has wheels that ride along tracks supported on opposite lateral sides of the mesh screen. An electric motor drives a chain passing around a pair of sprocket gears in the housing. A drive peg extends laterally from the chain and it is captured by a guide member whose bottom end is connected to the carriage.
