Vehicle Stablizing Means Patents (Class 212/301)
  • Patent number: 11724921
Abstract: A mobile crane includes an undercarriage, a superstructure having a crane boom and a crane cable, and a plurality of support carriers for stabilizing the undercarriage in a correct operating state. In order to set-up the mobile crane, a support carrier is disposed in a disassembled state separately from the mobile crane in a waiting position. The support carrier is connected to the crane cable of the crane boom and is shifted between the waiting position and a receiving position which is disposed on the undercarriage. The support carrier is moved by the crane boom between the receiving position and a coupling position in a support box of the undercarriage in such a manner that the support carrier is guided in the support box at least in a substantially tension-free manner. A controller is configured to carry out the set-up method.

  • Patent number: 6305560
Abstract: A system of multiple concentric annular support pedestal rings for providing load and counterweight support for a ring supported crane. The pedestal rings are fabricated from uniform sections of steel, which are mated at preferably triangular shaped ends. A top rail is secured on the ring segments to complete the pedestal ring. At least two rings support the crane through rocker beam assembly structures for powered and idler rollers, providing additional strength and stability to the crane through the distribution of weight forces down through a larger support footprint. Additional stability is also provided by substantially increasing the weight of counterweight that can be utilized. Weight distribution from the boom and mast is enhanced with an inventive boom foot carrier, that distributes the weight of the boom and/or mast through multiple concentric rings. Weight distribution from the counterweight is similarly distributed through the inventive counterweight carrier.

Abstract: A monitoring system is provided for monitoring positioning and stability of an articulated boom system The articulated boom system includes an articulated boom, having one or more boom sections, extending from a base, along with one or more outriggers extending from the base. The monitoring system includes a load sensor placed on a leading end of the articulated boom, a boom position sensor placed on the leading end, an outrigger sensor placed on the outrigger(s) and a computer. The load sensor delivers a signal to the computer indicative of the load on the leading end The boom position sensor delivers information to the computer indicative of the position of the leading end with respect to the base. The outrigger sensor delivers a signal to the computer indicative of the extension of the outrigger(s) from the base. The computer determines the position of the articulated boom based upon the sensed position of the leading end.

  • Patent number: 6119882
Abstract: A self-propelled boom vehicle has an extendible axle and an extendible steering mechanism which has an automatic steering synchronization system. The extendible axle has a hollow central support sleeve and telescopic arm sections. A single hydraulic extension axle is positioned inside the hollow central support sleeve and connects to and drives the telescopic arm sections between their retracted and extended positions. The steering synchronization system includes a pair of steering cylinders in a closed hydraulic circuit working in a master-slave arrangement and which operate inversely with respect to each other. A mechanical check valve is carried by each piston which allows excess hydraulic fluid to flow through the check valve to allow the piston to travel to the end of its stroke to resynchronize the steering.

  • Patent number: 6039194
Abstract: A compact mobile crane for lifting or lowering a load to or from a roof or other location of a building, and for raising, lowering, and supporting a load along the sides of a building. Elements of the mobile crane can be folded to allow the mobile crane to be moved into, and transported by, a standard size building elevator. Wheel assemblies on the carriage of the mobile crane can be configured for four wheel steering, locked in predetermined directions, or free pivoting. The wheel assemblies further include a wheel retraction apparatus for retracting the wheels of the mobile crane to support the crane on fixed length supports. The carriage frame members include rows of holes spaced at equal distances from each other, providing a system for easily fastening numerous elements to the mobile crane.

Abstract: A combination engine hoist and stand for lifting and supporting an engine includes a variably oriented "H" shaped multi hinged base with frame extension capability mounted on casters and a combined hoist and stand vertical column located on the base for communicating with and supporting both a hoist and a stand via a collar disposed therebetween. The hoist includes a boom and a hoist column, the boom pivotally attached to the hoist column and the hoist column attached to the stand column via the collar. The boom is manually adjustable for length via extension elements and the boom height is adjustable by activating a hydraulic jack. A wire rope depends from the outward extending end of the boom and is manually adjustable for length by operating a winch. The boom alone or the entire hoist is removable from the stand as desired. The stand includes a stand column and a shaft that pivotally and slidably communicates with the collar on the stand column and also includes a plate for attachment to an engine.

  • Patent number: 5667245
Abstract: A reversible stabilizer pad for use with stabilizer arms of vehicles. The reversible stabilizer pad has a plate with first and second ground contact faces pivotally coupled to the stabilizer arm such that the plate can rotate about the arm to engage the ground surface with either ground contact face. A spring member is provided such that it provides a spring tension that resists rotation of the pad in at least a first direction to prevent the pad from rotating from one contact face to the other contact face due to the inertia of the pad as the stabilizer arm is moved. The spring member also indexes the rotational position of the pad with respect to the arm so that at least one of the contact faces evenly engages a ground surface as the arm is emplaced. In other embodiments, a resilient latch, coupled to one of the stabilizer pad and the arm, contacts the other of the stabilizer pad and the arm, and provides frictional resistance to rotation.
