  • Patent number: 8028854
Abstract: The subject invention is a lid assembly (20) for use on a container (22) presenting an endless top rim (24). A frame (26) includes shell-shaped sidewalls (36) that face one another, and present upper concave central edges (48). The upper concave central edges (48) are connected by lower edges (50) to define opposed L-shaped openings (54) between the central edges (48). A pair of abutting L-shaped flaps (28) each define a top leg (64) and a side leg (68). The flaps (28) are complementary to the L-shaped openings (54) by extending away from each other along the upper central edges (48) of the sidewalls (36) and then downward to the lower edge (50). The top legs (64) may be pushed down into the opening (54) to provide access to the container (22) while the side legs (68) bias the flaps (28) to a closed position.

  • Patent number: 7984822
Abstract: A kiln having a body with an internal chamber accessible via an opening which normally is closed by a closure that is movable. Lift apparatus effects movements of the closure between its closed and opened positions. The lift apparatus includes an arm which overlies the closure and is pivoted to a support independently of the kiln body for rotation about a second axis that is spaced a selected distance from the axis about which the closure rocks. The lift arm is connected to the closure by a pivot coupling which maintains the lift arm and the closure substantially parallel and uniformly spaced apart throughout the movements of the closure. The pivotal connection of the lift arm to the closure enables relative movement of the lift arm and the closure during movements thereof to avoid imposing appreciable stress on either the arm or the closure.

  • Patent number: 7549559
Abstract: Resealable caps and tops for directional pour spout containers currently available for liquid and semi-solid products are either a spout and cap design, in which the tip is cut off to pour or squeeze out the container contents, or a non-spout, hinged top-and-bottom design, which defines a flat surface with an opening. These designs have many limitations. For example, the closure portion of a conventional spout closure can become detached, leading to production line delays, lost tips in transit, product recall at the store level, loss of shelf life and potential chocking hazards to children and pets. The non-spout hinged, top-and-bottom design does not offer the directional dispensing capabilities. This invention addresses the shortcomings of conventional caps and tops by providing a one-piece directional pour spout container cap in which the base has an upwardly directed spout and a hinged flip top cap is attached to the spout.

  • Patent number: 6702137
Abstract: A plug for a liquid container comprises an outer plug, an inner plug and a fixing device. The outer plug is substantially a cylinder shape with a bottom wall and detachably installed onto a liquid container, wherein a liquid passage hole is penetrated through the bottom wall, and a liquid passage is formed between the bottom wall and an upper opening of the outer plug body. The inner plug is pivotally connected to the outer plug through a hinge, wherein the inner plug further comprises a liquid inlet seal member for sealing the liquid passage hole and a liquid outlet seal member for sealing an inner wall near the upper opening of the outer plug. The fixing device is used for fixing the inner plug onto the outer plug.

  • Patent number: 6685043
Abstract: A fuel cap assembly for use on fuel tanks on large vehicles such as straight trucks and buses for reducing and preventing fuel fumes and spills from reaching outside of the fuel tank during fuel filling operations. The cap assembly has interior facing threads that wrap about exterior facing threads on the fuel receiving receptacles on the fuel tanks. The cap assembly includes a lid having a normally biased closed door that only opens when a fuel nozzle is pressed into the door. The cap assembly can be elongated to allow for an interior chamber that allows for an extra catch to stop fuel from reaching outside the tank during the filling of the fuel tank. An O-ring type seal also helps lockably seal the cap assembly to the fuel tank receptacle.

Abstract: The present invention is a leak resistant, automatically-sealing, drink-through lid for a beverage container. The lid is capable of being releasably sealably engaged with a top end of the container. The lid includes a tab portion. The tab portion is capable of being depressed so as to provide an opening in the lid. Upon removal of pressure against the tab portion, the tab portion is biased so as to return to a closed position to close the opening. In particular, the tab portion is biased by a curved hinge.

  • Patent number: 6612456
Abstract: A drink-through cup lid, adapted to matingly engage the upper peripheral edge of a drinking cup so as to selectively maintain the lid in a covering relationship on the cup, includes a rim engaging portion and a central cover portion. The central cover portion further has a hinged portion which is selectively depressible to so as to provide a drinking opening in the lid, the hinged portion is biased so as to selectively substantially return to its normally closed position within the plane of the central cover portion upon removal of pressure there-against. The hinged portion includes a hollow raised tab integrally formed thereon. A recess which is integrally formed on the central cover portion of the lid is adapted to selectively receive the raised tab of the hinged portion in detachable locking engagement.

  • Publication number: 20030062368
Abstract: A dispensing container is formed from a toroidal-shaped body having a top surface, a bottom surface, and opposing outer and inner sidewalls defining a hollow interior and a central void. A lid having a tab portion hinged to an actuator portion covers part of the top surface of the body and is dimensioned to cover the aperture. The actuator is depressable to cause the tab portion to pivot away from the aperture, thereby allowing one to dispense the contents present in the container.

  • Publication number: 20020092851
Abstract: An automatically sealing lid assembly (10) includes a cap portion (12) selectively coupled to a cup (16) so as to cover a mouth (14) of the cup (16). The cap portion (12) has a sip hole (34) and a vent hole (36) integrally formed therein. The cap portion (12) also has a disk portion (42) rotatably coupled thereto between a sealed configuration and an unsealed configuration. The disk portion (42) has a sip plug (52) and a vent plug (54). The sip plug (52) seals the sip hole (34) in the sealed configuration. Likewise, the vent plug (54) seals the vent hole (36) in the sealed configuration. The cap portion (12) and the disk portion (42) have a biasing member assembly (62) operatively coupled therebetween. The biasing member assembly (62) biases the disk portion (42) to the sealed configuration. The biasing member assembly (62) further includes an actuating surface (80) for receiving an application of force by a user thereby selectively disposing the lid assembly (10) to the unsealed configuration.

  • Patent number: 6412634
Abstract: A dispensing article, particularly for dispensing towelettes, is provided and includes a container body for storing the towelettes and a lid hingedly attached to the body. The container is formed from a floor panel, left and right side panels, front and rear panels and a deck panel. The deck panel includes a sealing section with a dispensing aperture. The sealing section is domed outwardly away from the floor. A downwardly projecting plug on an interior surface of the lid, in a closed position, engages within the dispensing aperture forming a seal therewith. The domed nature of the sealing section improves the air tight closure and shortens the required length of the plug to minimize aesthetically displeasing sink marks in the plastic wall of the plug.
