Abstract: A closure apparatus for a container includes an adapter which is mounted on or otherwise integrally formed with the container adjacent the container opening, and a cap which is moveable between an opened position and a closed position over the container opening. A coupling mechanism is provided for interconnecting the cap to the adapter so as to enable the cap to slide relative to the adapter between the opened and a closed position. A clamping mechanism, preferably provided by opposing ramped surfaces on the adapter and cap, is provided ton cooperate with the coupling means whereby the cap is urged into pressing engagement with the adapter over the container opening as the cap slides into the closed position.

Abstract: A sliding container cover, which includes a rectangular base frame mounted on the top opening of a rectangular container, a rectangular cover frame hinged to the rectangular base frame at one side and openably covered over the rectangular base frame, and a sliding cover board made to slide in and out of the space defined between the rectangular base frame and the rectangular cover frame for controlling the top opening of the rectangular container.

Abstract: A case protecting the buttons of and supporting a remote control transmitter, the transmitter including an opening to receive a key chain ring, the case further including a container and a rigid clear plastic cover-panel that is slidable by one's thumb. The cover-panel is fitted within two side grooves tapered only at rear ends in the container and also includes a catch that prevents the cover-panel from sliding completely off the container in a forward direction. The container includes an indentation notch on one side end wall that allows the catch to pass therethrough when sliding the cover-panel completely off the container in the rearward direction. There is also provided a second opening in the container that permits the transmitter's key chain ring opening to pass therethrough. The case protects the buttons of the transmitter. The transmitter can be one that activates personal or auto alarms, opens and closes garage doors or gates, unlocks an automobile trunk, or controls household electronics.

Abstract: A container for holding contact lenses in contact lens treatment solutions which has a base member equipped with at least one compartment. Each compartment has a predetermined length and width situated in a juxtaposed position with a partition thereinbetween for holding the contact lens and a laterally projecting flange around the perimeter of the compartment. Each compartment is filled with a contact lens treatment solution. A layer of adhesive is deposited on the laterally projecting flange. A cover sheet member extending at least across the full length and width of the compartment is releaseably united to the base member at the flange by the layer of adhesive forming a fluid-tight seal. The layer of adhesive is capable of uniting the cover sheet member and the base member at the flange and forming a fluid-tight seal after repeated uniting and releasing between the two members. In an alternate embodiment, a sliding cover is used to slidingly engage the flange achieving a fluid-tight seal.

Abstract: A vertically adjustable extension rail system for a drawer used in a housing having opposed vertical walls with a plurality of horizontally-extending, vertically-spaced guide ribs leaving alternating guide grooves. The extension rail system comprises two spaced apart extension rail assemblies with each extension rail assembly having a carrier rail and a slide rail which are slidably interconnected. A guide arm is mountable at a plurality of vertical levels along each of the slide rails. The guide arms are adapted for being lengthwise slidably received by opposing guide grooves on the vertical walls. A fixed or removable drawer receptacle can be mounted between the two extension rail assemblies.

Abstract: A storage box includes a housing, which has a top wall, a bottom wall, a right side wall, a left side wall and a rear wall, and a storage assembly which is disposed removably in the housing for confining articles therein. The storage assembly includes a pair of left and right plates positioned against the left and right side walls. Each of the left and right plates has a top side, a bottom side, a front side, a rear side, a guiding rail extending along the front side, the top side and the rear side, and inwardly projecting racks spaced vertically from one another. Each rack of the left plate is aligned horizontally with a corresponding one of the racks of the right plate. A top plate is disposed between the left and right plates and has two opposite end portions secured detachably to the left and right plates. A flexible sliding door is placed between the left and right plates and has two opposite ends that engage slidably the guiding rails.

Abstract: A closure device for drinking from a liquid container (2) is sealingly mounted with a bottom part (3) of a main body thereof extending into an opening of the container. A top part (4) has a circular-arc portion with a groove (6) therein. Liquid-emitting and air-admitting bore holes (10, 11) are positioned in a base of the groove. A pivotally movable cap (14) is mounted on the top part covering the groove. When the cap is pivoted, it causes a flexible hose (12) mounted in the liquid-emitting bore hole to bend and thereby closes it. At the same time, the bent hose closes the air-admitting opening.

Abstract: In a dispenser box for containment of graduated vessels of a type having an inlet opening for receiving fluids to be tested such as blood, blood plasma or the like, with the dispenser box having a longitudinal side provided with an ejection slot and a top side provided with spaced and parallel rectangular openings, wherein the inlet openings of the vessels face the openings in the top side, a sheet is removably secured between the top side of the housing and the vessels and covering the inlet openings of the vessels.

Abstract: A dispensing assembly includes a seal that is induction-bonded to an outlet of a container. A cap is detachably connected to the container over the seal to protect the seal during shipping. Once the cap is removed, the seal can be peeled away from the outlet. The absence of the seal can be observed when an attempt is made to reconnect the cap to the container after the seal has been removed.

Abstract: Methods of and apparatus for adding toner to an electrostatographic development station from a flat-flanged container containing toner minimizes spillage of toner by automatically uncovering and recovering the container. The flat-flanged container has a mouth surrounded by a peripheral flange which is covered by a flexible cover folded upon itself and adhered to the flange. A slide cover is slidably mounted on the flange with the flexible cover attached at one end to the slide cover. The container is emptied by inserting the container into a sump lid positioned over a hopper within the electrostatographic development station and moving the container so that the mouth of the container is in alignment with an opening through the sump lid. As the container is moved into alignment with opening, the slide cover is automatically removed from the container simultaneously peeling the flexible cover from the flange and opening the container to empty the toner.

Abstract: A system for safely and conveniently disposing of contaminated hypodermic needles comprises a disposal container for accumulating contaminated hypodermic needles which had been disposed therein after having been initially collected within a tray containing a supply of needle-retaining material. The needle-retaining material is a soft material, similar to art gum eraser material, which is soft enough for a needle to penetrate yet sticky enough to retain the needle when the needle is released from the syringe. The tray comprises a base, a pair of side walls, a handle extending from one side wall for easy transport of the tray, and the supply of needle-retaining material. The needle-retaining material in the tray may be presented in two different forms, either as a contiguous supply of strips in the tray or as individual small cup-like depressions each containing a small amount.

Abstract: A storage box includes a rigid enclosing housing having a front opening and two separate left and right plates positioned against the left and right walls of the housing. The left and right plates are provided with vertically spaced and horizontally aligned racks. A sliding door is slideably held in the guide rails provided in the left and right plates which extend adjacent to the top and rear walls of the housing and which permit the door to be drawn to the front side of the housing to cover the front opening.

Abstract: The capsule has a capsule body provided for closing one end of a container. The capsule body includes a top wall formed with a port and from which is formed a slide for a drawer covered by a top of an envelope fixedly connected to the capsule body and formed with an incision for a control knob. The control knob controls the drawer and is associated with a cursor closing the incision.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided to identify, index and display slides having a specimen thereon, and to secure the slides so as to protect biopsy material and similar specimens retained thereon. There is also provided a slide carrier to hold slides in spaced relation while slides are collectively immersed or wetted, thereby saving considerable time during the processing of the slides by laboratory personnel. The slides are marked by a permanent and unique code which is visible while the slides are retained within the slide carrier container.

Abstract: A cover for an ice cube tray includes a top portion for covering the top of an ice cube tray and sidewalls joined to the top portion which permits the top portion to be raised to a position at which the top position is spaced above the tray top. The cover also includes flanges joined to the sidewalls for limiting the distance that the top portion can be raised above the tray top. Once the cover raised to its spaced, or elevated, position and the tray and cover are inverted and canted to an inclined condition, the top portion and sidewalls provide a chute for accepting ice cubes dropped from the tray and for directing the dropped ice cubes off the lower end of the cover.

Abstract: A video cassette storage container having a cover removably connected to a base portion. The cover is surrounded about its periphery by a series of lights that are programmed to flash in an eye-catching fashion. The cover is designed to contain any suitable printed indicia such as a description of the contents of the storage container or an advertisement. The lights are included to draw attention to the printed indicia encased within the cover below a transparent sheet of material. In an alternate embodiment, the lights about the periphery of the cover are activated by touch.

Abstract: A sanitary disposable container is set forth wherein the container is formed with a rigid floor with orthogonally and upwardly extending accordion walls wherein the container is extensible to accommodate a predetermined volume of refuse and may be compactly stored when not in use. A reciprocatably slidable lid is mounted to an upper perimeter of the container wherein the lid is provided with a securement strap and further provided with a deodorizing agent formed internally of the lid to be directed into the refuse when the container is utilized.

Abstract: The present invention sets forth an adapter for filter cartridges and a mating cartridge which provides sealing means between the cartridge and the adapter and sealing means between the adapter and a filter head to which it is to be installed, and means for installing the adapter on a cartridge and for installing the adapter in the filter head with an aligning and locking means that ensures that all parts are appropriately positioned for proper function and at the same time will prevent physical disengagement and/or a break in the flow path from the cartridge to the filter head when the cartridge and adapter are properly installed in the filter head.

Abstract: A receiver for a laser transmitter for use in surveying, comprising a housing and a sensor module pivotably mounted on the housing so that, by pivoting the sensor module relative to the housing, the device can detect a laser signal coming from sources at various angles to the housing. Also, a battery receptacle comprising a housing which defines a cavity and an opening at one end of the cavity for receiving a battery. First and second recesses are formed at the other end of said cavity and are shaped to receive terminals on a battery which is inserted in the cavity. First and second electrically conductive springs are mounted in the first and second slots, respectively. A door is mounted on the housing to close the opening and to retain a battery in the cavity.

Abstract: A recording disc enclosure is disclosed, having semi-rigid top and bottom portions, with adjoining sides forming an enclosed space therebetween. An aperature sized to pass a recording disc therethrough is disposed through one side of the enclosure. A closure strip is disposed to cover the aperature in the closed position, and to be manually biased along a top and bottom guide path to extend substantially beyond the profile of the enclosure in the open position. The closure strip, when in the open position may be biased to rotate approximately 90 degrees to an open position in alignment with one of the sides adjoining the aperture side. Top or bottom portions of the enclosure may be transparent to provide a visual indication of the contents of the enclosure. Alternately visual symbols may be disposed upon the top or bottom portion of the enclosure, and preferably upon at least one side, to provide identification of the contents of the enclosure.

Abstract: The portable device for picking up animal droppings has a tray, a cover member, and a sheet of flexible material. The cover member is slidingly engaged to the top surface of the tray and a cord handle is attached to one end of the cover for carrying the portable device. The use of the portable device results in the picking up of the animal droppings while not requiring the person to touch the same. During this operation the animal droppings are wrapped as a package within the flexible sheet of material as they are both drawn onto the top of the tray beneath the cover member.

Abstract: A sandbox for recreational play is disclosed which has a slidable cover. The cover slides between a closed position covering a container for holding sand to an open position wherein the sand container is uncovered. The cover has a downwardly depending end portion which supports the cover when in the open position, enabling the cover to be used as a play deck. The cover advantageously has an entertaining play surface formed thereon, preferably a miniature marina. To this end, a depression is formed in the cover into which water is received for use with water play toys. A toy vehicle roadway is also formed along the upper portion of the sandbox, and on the cover. The roadway is endless regardless of whether the cover is in either the fully open or fully closed cover position. The container has a channel formed in three of its sidewalls. The ends of the channel are open to the exterior of the container. The cover slides between positions guided by the channel.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hopper cover having a pair of covering members and mechanism for moving each of the covering members toward and away from the other. Stops ultimately prevent the covering members from falling from the hopper, while mating mechanism and elastic straps combine to hold the covers together when they are moved together. The cover provides a wide central space for filling a hopper, while functioning simply to open and close and provide the necessary protective covering for the substance filled within the hopper.

Abstract: A drinking cup and cover combination is provided. The cup has a substantially rectangular mouth, walls and an open top extending to the walls. The cover for the cup includes a plurality of downwardly depending lips, which in cooperation with an arcuate lip on the cup allows the cover to be releasably retained on the mouth of the cup and permits sliding movement of the cover parallel to two parallel sides of the cup mouth and between first and second extreme positions. The foregoing structure permits the cover to completely close the mouth of the cup when it is in the first position and to form a pouring aperture at the mouth of the cup when the cover is in the second position.

Abstract: A device adapted for storing items, in particular, magnetic information media, said device including a hollow exterior rectangular box having depressions and ridges such that the box may be stacked efficiently with other identical boxes to have lateral interlocks both on the vertical and horizontal surfaces and including in the interior thereof guide rails for receiving a drawer. The drawer is designed to be usable in either of two orientations, the second orientation being a 90.degree. rotation from the first, the drawer further including walls for enclosing the media and a hinged gate for allowing the media to tilt forward for ready access while restraining the media within the drawer.

Abstract: A playing card dispenser comprising: (a) at least two compartments each appropriately sized to accommodate a stack of playing cards; (b) an exterior opening leading from each compartment and from which playing cards can be withdrawn one at a time; (c) a cover selectively placeable about any compartment from which playing cards are not to be withdrawn to block such withdrawal; and (d), as in a preferred embodiment, a roller mounted within a housing and disposed in each compartment behind each said stack, said roller gravitationally rollable on the floor of said compartment to maintain the stack of playing cards tightly stacked.

Abstract: A sliding lid is disclosed for use on open top tapered trays having angularly disposed side walls and no top flange. The lid is prepared from a blank of flexible material such as paperboard or the like and comprises a central panel having inside and outside panels and a glue flap foldably attached to each side edge thereof. The inside and outside panels are folded to produce side flaps that are fixed in place when the glue flaps are adhered to the inside of the central panel. In their fixed position, the side flaps are angularly oriented with the lid central panel so as to grip the tapered side walls of the tray when the lid is in place.

Abstract: The closing mechanism of an automatic door closing arrangement is partly enveloped by an elongated unitary casing of sheet metal. Flanges on two of the longitudinal casing walls bound therebetween an opening in the casing which may be closed by a panel releasably retained by the flanges. Provisions are made for attaching the casing to a door and for linking the output element of the closing mechanism to a door frame. The panel may be removed simply and without tools for access to the mechanism or for replacement by another panel of different decorative appearance.

Abstract: A dispensing and storage container for various articles, particularly pills, wherein the stored articles are readily available when needed, without risking the chance of the container being opened accidentally, the container comprising a cover adapted to slidably received a rectangular receptacle formed to define a compartment. The cover includes longitudinal side walls having channels disposed therein to slidably receive rail members integrally formed along the side walls of the receptacle. To prevent accidental opening of the container the forward wall of the receptacle is provided with a lock recess in which a locking lug is removable received, the locking lug being integrally formed along the forward edge of the cover.

Abstract: A needle container comprises a container body and a lid engageable thereon by means of a dovetail joint. The container body includes a needle holder separately mounted on a holder retainer so that the needle holder itself is interchangeable according to the kind and number of needles to be accommodated.

Abstract: Apparatus for selectively opening and closing a fluid-tight sealing gate for a storage bin or the like. A gate closure member is mounted on a carriage which is supported for lateral movement relative to a material flow opening. As the carriage assembly is laterally moved by a linear actuator, the closure member is moved in a direction perpendicular to the material flow opening to accomplish sealing and unsealing of the opening in proper timed relation with the lateral movement of the carriage assembly. A material flow guiding structure is connected to the carriage assembly for movement into position adjacent the material flow opening, as the carriage assembly is laterally moved to withdraw the closure member from closure relation with the flow opening.
