Abstract: This invention relates to a closure arrangement for closing an opening in a base component. In particular—but not exclusively—this invention relates to a closure arrangement for a container, to serve as an openable lid for the container.

Abstract: An improved truck bed toolbox lid and a method of producing the same. The truck bed toolbox lid includes an outer metallic sheet layer comprising a generally rectangular top sheet member, a longitudinal front edge member, two lateral edge members and a longitudinal rear edge member. A metallic liner sheet member is disposed inside the top sheet member in edge contact abutment with beveled inside edges of the front and rear longitudinal edge members and the lateral edge members to create an internal cavity in which the liner is by stitch welding. One or more injection ports are provided through the liner sheet member through which a self-expanding and self-curing, relatively high-density, foam is injected. The stitch welded edge contacts leave non-welded, gas permeable junctions along the wedged cavity periphery at a funneled apex of the edge contacted boundary which facilitate expansion of the foam toward the outermost edges of the cavity.

Abstract: A foldable tool kit comprises two abutted elongate first compartments, two abutted second compartments on either side of the first compartment, each second compartment being smaller than the first compartment, and a plurality of hinges each for coupling each of the second compartments to the first compartment or two of the second compartments on the same side. The stored tools are protected from being lost due to the provisions of engaged positioning pegs and holes on the second compartments as well as prevented from mixing due to the provision of covers on the second compartments while carrying.

Abstract: A beverage container includes a container body having a shape substantially similar to a conical frustum and having a storage area defined by a side wall and a bottom wall. The container body also includes an open end for receiving a fluid for being contained within the storage area. The beverage container further includes a chamber defined by a chamber wall provided in cooperative arrangement with the side wall of the container such that the chamber protrudes into the storage area. The side wall of the container body also forms an opening for the chamber. A cover hinged to a bottom portion of the container includes interlocking portions for connection with corresponding interlocking portions on the container when the cover is closed.

Abstract: A closure for sealing an opening of a tubular container is disclosed, the closure having a paperboard central panel with a plurality of secondary panels extending angularly therefrom forming a surface around the perimeter of the central panel. A plastic skirt is adhered around the perimeter of the central panel and to one side of the secondary panels opposite the surface to reinforce it. A metal foil layer is adhered to the surface, the foil having a side facing the sidewall of the container with a heat-activated adhesive layer thereon. The closure is positioned on the container with the central panel in registration with the opening and the heat-activated adhesive layer engaging the sidewall of the container. The seal between the closure and the container is effected by subjecting the container to an electromagnetic induction field, whereby eddy currents induced in the metal foil by the field cause the heat-activated adhesive to form a bond between the container sidewall and the secondary panels.

Abstract: Plastic snap-on hinged closures each having a bottom part and a cap that are attached to each other by a snap-on hinge tend to tear on the lateral borders. This is due to the geometry of closures having a round or oval shape when viewed from the top since only the flexibility of the outer walls have been used so far. This unresolved problem can be solved by a curvature with varying height and wall thickness extending along the joint. The curvature is elastic when pressure is exerted in the middle and when pulled from the sides.

Abstract: A package (1) for packaging and storing elongated items such as sewing needles (2, 3) has a tray (5) and a lid part (6), which are held or connected together to define a housing space. The tray (5) and the lid part (6) each have a flap-type section (14, 19) at their bead end. These sections can be pivoted toward and away from one another, and can be latched together. When the two flaps (14, 19) are pivoted away from one another, they expose the ends of stored items, e.g., the sewing needles (2, 3), projecting out of the housing space (48), so the items can easily be pulled out of the housing space (48). It is therefore possible to secure the items or sewing needles (2, 3), for example, in a frictional, in the housing space (48).

Abstract: There is disclosed a container (10) including a receptacle (12) having an opening (18) and a lid (11) for closing the opening. The container further includes a link (13) which permanently attaches the lid to the receptacle. The link is configured to enable the lid to move between a position in which the lid seals the opening and a position in which the lid is underneath the receptacle and engaged with a ridge (19) extending about the periphery of the base (15) of the receptacle.

Abstract: A glue stick product allows a user to hold the product in a natural pen-like orientation when applying glue to a substrate. The product has a cap which is separable along a mating line offset from perpendicular at about 35° with the upper part of the cap connected to the lower part by means of a live hinge.

Abstract: A tamper-proof container and cap assembly is provided, comprising a container having an upper portion and an outer surface. The container has a rim at the upper portion. The upper portion includes a flexible and detachable protrusion having a contact element and a break point. The container also has a cap having a base with an outer periphery and a skirt extending perpendicularly and outwardly around the outer periphery of the base. The cap has a hinge and a tap with a first and second slot wherein the first slot is capable of housing the protrusion, and the second slot has an interlocking device that mates with the protrusion. In an empty stage, the protrusion is positioned within the first slot. In a filled stage, the cap is placed upon the container and the protrusion is repositioned within the second slot and the contact element engages the interlocking device to form a tamper-proof seal.

Abstract: An electronics enclosure includes first and second clamshell components which are hingedly coupled by engaged, respective hinge members. A biased latch is attached to one of the clamshell components and is moveable between a position where it is aligned with one of the hinge members and maintains the hinge engagement and a second nonaligned position where the hinge members can be disengaged and the clamshell components decoupled.

Abstract: The invention provides a cover for a tubular feed container for a disposable cup dispenser, the cover comprising an annular base sized to concentrically override an upper area of the tubular container in friction-fit engagement therewith, and a hinged lid attached to a pair of spaced-apart hinge flanges protruding from an outer surface of the base, wherein an edge of the lid bracketed by the pair of hinges is provided with a concave configuration complementary to the convex curvature of the outer surface of the annular base, and an upper surface area of the lid is provided with a concave depression complementary in configuration to the convex curvature of the outer surface of the annular base, whereby the lid can be rotated about the hinges in an arc of about 270° from a first position atop the base to a second position with the upper surface of the lid substantially flush with an outer portion of the annular base, without damage to the hinges.

Abstract: The invention relates to a case essentially comprising a base, a lid and articulation means for articulating the lid with respect to the base. The articulation means have a pin and a seating in which the pin pivots in a direction of rotation, in order to articulate the lid with respect to the base between a closed position in which the articulation means are concealed on the inside of the case and an open position. The seating extends in a direction of slide substantially perpendicular to the direction of rotation to further permit translation of the lid in the direction of slide and the device further comprises means for combining the movements of rotation and of translation of the lid.

Abstract: A lid opening-closing supporting mechanism in a biaxial rotating system of the invention is formed of a base shaft, a rotating member axially supported by the base shaft, a guide hole bored in a container, a branch hole branching from the guide hole, and first and second slide shafts attached to a lid and located in the guide hole. In case coefficient of friction between the second slide shaft and an inner surface of the guide hole is defined as &mgr;, and an angle formed between a line connecting the base shaft with the first slide shaft and a line connecting the base shaft with the second slide shaft is defined as &agr;, the base shaft, the first slide shaft and the second slide shaft are arranged to satisfy a formula expressed as &agr;≧2&mgr; tan−1. Also, the first slide shaft may tightly contact an end portion of the guide hole, while the first and second slide shafts loosely contact the guide hole in other areas.

Abstract: A closure is provided for a container opening. The closure includes a base for mounting to the container and a lid movable between a closed position and an open position. The lid and base are connected by a bistable, snap-action hinge structure having a web with a reduced thickness region along a lateral edge.

Abstract: An electric vehicle body has a curved portion provided with an opening. A storage compartment communicates with an inside of the body through the opening. A lid is disposed along the curved surface of the body to pivot about hinges to open and close the storage compartment. In one embodiment, each hinge includes a hinge pin provided on a side wall of the lid and a slotted aperture formed in a side wall of the storage box. The hinge pin is fitted into the long aperture in such a manner as to rotate and slide within the slotted aperture. As the lid is being opened, an edge of the rear cover proximate the lid comes into abutment with an edge of the lid to push the lid and hinge pin along a longitudinal direction of the long aperture.

Abstract: A bin comprising a vessel and a pivoting lid that can be moved between an open position and a closed position. The lid and the vessel are arranged in such a manner that the air leaving the vessel during closure of the lid and when the lid is close to its closed position is forced to turn at least twice, being forced to pass between substantially vertical surfaces belonging respectively to the lid and to the vessel, at least at the front of the lid, preferably at least at the front of the lid and on both sides therefore, and more preferably still all round the four edges of the lid, so as to encourage the creation of raised pressure inside the vessel, which raised pressure tends to brake the displacement of the lid towards its closed position.

Abstract: A wet wipe container having improved opening and improved tear resistance between the lid and the base among other features. The container includes a container base and a container lid that is connected to the container base. In one embodiment, the container lid has a guide ridge that extends downward into the interior of the container. The guide ridge permits the container lid to be in a partially open position and provides better alignment between the container lid and the container base during closing of the container. In another embodiment, the container includes a closure that has an upwardly extending tongue projection, a flattened grip area and an assistive region to increase the ease with which the container can be opened. The invention also relates to a container having a more tear resistant container lid. The container lid has a hinge channel of a primary thickness. The hinge channel has two end regions that are of a secondary thickness that is greater than the primary thickness.

Abstract: The present closure is one that is actuated and opened indirectly. A force on a push pad causes the lid to open. There is no direct manual force applied to the lid to open the lid. The closure is comprised of a base section and a lid section. These are separate molded sections. These separate molded sections are attached after molding. The base section has the attachment to a container, structural integrity, a spout, and a lid actuator mechanism. The lid actuator mechanism is comprised of a strap with a push pad with an actuator rod at the end adjacent an actuator wall. The lid section has a spout closing section for the spout of the base section and an attachment fitting for attachment to the base section. The spout closing section is attached to the attachment fitting by living hinges, and preferably, preloaded living hinges. Such living hinges reduce the force to actuate. The closure is opened by pushing on a push pad which in turn causes the living hinges to be actuated and the lid snap opened.

Abstract: An apparatus for the secure storage of used cooking grease comprises a tank, having one or more walls and a top and bottom, and a grease inlet located at the top of the tank and having upper and lower openings, with each opening at least partially spanned by one or more members.

Abstract: A lid assembly (20) comprises a lid body (21) having an dispensing opening and fitted on a container body (11), and a hinged lid (23) pivotally joined to the lid body (21). A rubber plate (50) is extended across a hinged joint between the lid body (21) and the hinged lid (23). The lid body (21) is provided with a recess (60), and a vertical plate (92) and a horizontal plate (90) are formed in the recess (60). The vertical plate (92) is provided with a catching projection (79) that catches a stopping projection (23) formed on the hinged lid (23).

Abstract: A box comprises two box elements attached together at a contact surface and connected together in a releasable manner in each of two opposite assembly areas. Each box element includes in each assembly area at least one clipping member which hooks onto a complementary clipping member in corresponding relationship to it on the other box element and at least one journal member which cooperates pivot fashion with a complementary journal member in corresponding relationship to it on the other box element. At least the clipping member of at least one of the box elements is carried by an elastically deformable arm. Applications include boxes for light fittings.

Abstract: A waste container assembly comprises a container body, a lid body, a flange and a door. The container body has an upper rim. The lid body has an outer surface extending from a top of the lid body to a lower portion of the lid body. The lower portion of the lid body is shaped and adapted for engagement with the upper rim of the container body. The flange extends from the lid body and has an inner rim that at least partially defines an opening in the lid body. The door is positioned adjacent the opening in the lid body and is pivotally connected to the flange for selectively moving the door between open and closed positions relative to the lid body. The door is adapted to substantially cover the opening in the lid body when the door is in its closed position. In another embodiment, the door pivots about a pivot axis and has a rim engaging portion adapted for engagement with the inner rim of the lid body when the door is in its closed position.

Abstract: A multipurpose container having a lid and a receptacle. The receptacle has a base, a pair of side walls and a pair of end walls. The side walls are opposing each other and are integral to the base and to each other. At least one container wall has one half of a hinge mechanism integrally molded to a free end which mates with the other half of the hinge mechanism integrally molded with the lid to for the hinge mechanism. The hinge mechanism removably and pivotally attaches the lid to the receptacle. The hinge prevents the lid from rotating past a prescribed angle while allowing the lid to remain open to aid in filling the container. The lid includes a living hinge which allows the lid to be reduced in size and fit within the container. The container is adapted to being stackable and nestable when the lid is removed and placed inside the container.

Abstract: An improved hinge with primary application to plastic molded containers. More particularly, this invention relates to a hinge which is compliant to bending forces applied during assembly and use of a container having a cover and a base. Importantly, the improved hinge limits the amount that the hinge may be bent.

Abstract: A lid mounting structure for opening/closing and connecting/disconnecting the lid of, e.g. a pot, thermos bottle, electronic jar, and the like, wherein are provided a fastening unit and a bearing unit engaged with each other and formed at the periphery of the mouth of the vessel to which the lid is mounted; a spindle held in the bearing unit and inserted in a groove formed in the fastening unit; a fastening member disposed in the fastening unit for fastening the spindle inserted in the groove and for preventing extraction of the spindle; and an urging device provided in direction of fastening of the fastening member to the spindle inserted in the groove; thereby to securely prevent falling off of the lid from the mouth when the lid is turned, and to enable easy simple operation of connecting and disconnecting the lid from the vessel.

Abstract: A container requiring more than one operation to open is provided. The container includes a hollow body and a lid attached to the hollow body which opens in a given direction. The container also includes a manually-operable member that is biased by a biasing element into a first position at which the member engages the closed lid. The member is moveable against the biasing element into a second position at which the lid is releasable. In the first position, the lid positively engages the member, and is disengageable from the member by first moving the lid in a direction other than the given direction in which the lid opens. The lid is closeable when the member is in the first position.

Abstract: It is related to an improved box opening/closing structure for storing wet towels for baby. It mainly comprises a box for storing wet towels, a box cover fitted on the box and a lifting cover disposed on the middle of the box cover. The container body has a bottom, first and second side walls extending upwardly from the bottom, and first and second end walls extending upwardly from the bottom. The side walls and end walls define a mouth of the container. The rearward lid component is adapted for covering a rearward portion of the mouth. The forward lid component is hingedly attached to the rearward lid component by a first hinge assembly for pivoting movement of the forward lid component relative to the rearward lid component about a first hinge axis. The forward lid component is adapted for covering a forward portion of the mouth. The handle is connected to the first end wall of the container body adjacent the mouth of the container. The handle extends generally along a handle axis.

Abstract: A device for removing spa covers and storing them, while the spa is in use, and returning them to cover the spa after use. The device may be operated with very little effort on the part of the user to lift the cover up and "off" the spa and over the end for storage. The spring balance aids in returning the cover to the "on" position. This device also reduces the possibility of having the wind damage or blow away the spa cover. Handicapped persons may find the installation of the hand crank or electric motor provisions will help them remove and replace the cover.

The hinge assembly (23) includes lugs (36) carried by the base component (21) and apertures (40) formed in the cover component (22). Each lug (36) has opposed linear edges (38) and opposed arcuate edges (39). Each aperture (40) includes an access opening (41) which leads into a generally circular recess (42). The hinge assembly (23) can be connected or disconnected by aligning the linear edges (38) of the lugs (36) with the access openings (41). Upon rotation of the cover component (22) relative to the base component (21), the arcuate edges (39) of the lugs (36) are received within the circular recesses (42) of the apertures (40).

Abstract: A door latch assembly, such as for a battery compartment of an electronic device, is disclosed. The door latch assembly comprises a housing having a pair of opposed, spaced flattened pins defining an elongated surface having a depth and a generally perpendicular narrowed surface having a thickness. The door latch assembly further comprises a door having first and second clasps for receiving the respective first and second pins. Each of the clasps includes an aperture and a slot leading to the aperture. The aperture has a breadth substantially equal to the depth of the elongated surface, and the slot has a gap substantially equal to the thickness of the narrowed surface. When assembling the door to the housing, each of the slots slides over the respective elongated surface to receive and captures the respective pin in the respective aperture.

Abstract: A tank cover for a tank socket of a vehicle fuel tank has a flap and a pivot arm with a curved portion having a first and a second leg. The first leg is connected to the flap. The second leg includes a hinge component with which the second leg is connected to the vehicle such that the flap is pivotal about a first end. A support surface is positioned adjacent to the curved portion remote from the flap. When the flap is to be mounted, the curved portion rests on the support surface and is pivoted while being supported on the support surface for mounting the hinge component. The support surface, after mounting of the tank cover, is spaced at a preset distance from the curved portion.

Abstract: There is provided a receptacle comprising a box body which is formed with right and left engagement parts, and a lid body which is formed with right and left engaged parts which engage with the right and left engagement parts of the box body so that an engagement of engagement parts and engaged parts is freely released. When the right and left engagement parts both engage with the right and left engaged parts, the lid body is kept at a state of being closed. When the left engagement part engages with the left engaged part and the engagement of the right engagement part with the right engaged part is released, the lid body is rotatable on the axis of the engaged left parts and is opened from the right-hand side. When the right engagement part engages with the right engaged part and the engagement of the left engagement part with the left engaged part is released, the lid body is rotatable on the axis of the engaged right parts and is opened from the left-hand side.

Abstract: A container requiring more than one operation to open, which comprises a hollow body, a lid for the body, the lid being releasably engaged such that the body is closed, and a marked member that is moveable between a first position at which the mark is hidden and the lid is engaged, and a second position at which the mark is visible and the lid is releasable.

Abstract: A cap assembly includes a first part for mounting to a bottle and a second part coupled to the first part, and a sucking member pivotally disposed to a top of the first part. The top of the first part has two stands, a support located between the two stands and a stop extending therefrom, wherein the support has a passage defined therethrough and extending through the top. The sucking member has a sphere member rotatably supported between the two stands and is rested on a first annular flange extending from a top of the support. The second part has two clamping members extending from a bottom thereof so that when the second part is mounted to the first part, the sucking member is clamped by the clamping members and pivoted and laid on the stop.
