  • Patent number: 8827114
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for containing and dispensing a fluid. The apparatus includes a fluid receiving sleeve made of a pliable material having a structural integrity that may be overcome by a weight of a fluid when the fluid is located within the fluid receiving sleeve. A support member comprising a substantially rigid rod, having a structural integrity sufficient to support the pliable material of the fluid receiving sleeve, supports the fluid receiving sleeve along the sidewall of the fluid receiving sleeve when the support member is positioned in an engaged position. A support member coupling couples the fluid receiving sleeve with the support member along the sidewall of the fluid receiving sleeve when the support member is positioned in an engaged position. In this manner the support member maintains the structural integrity of the fluid receiving sleeve.

Abstract: The invention generally relates to unitized packages for containing and dispensing a product material. In particular, the unitized packages comprise a printed base card and a fluid vessel permanently bonded to the printed base card. The fluid vessel comprises a first laminate barrier layer comprising at least one layer of a biaxially oriented thermoplastic polymer, a portion of which is formed into a modified dome shape, and a planar second laminate barrier layer. The first and second laminate barrier layers are sealed together to form a fluid-tight enclosure, wherein the product material substantially fills the enclosure and the modified dome shape is resiliently sustainable. A method of manufacturing the unitized packages as described above is also provided. In particular, the method includes forming a portion of the first laminate barrier layer comprising the biaxially oriented polymer into the modified dome shape using a force such as pressurized gas.

Abstract: A rigid stand holds bag-in-box containers of liquid to be dispensed from an outlet near the bottom of the container. A platform suspends the containers above a support surface high enough so that the outlet is at least 12 centimeters above the support surface for a cup or glass to fit under the outlet. The stand includes a base panel for sitting on the support surface. Upstanding from first and second sides of the base panel are two wall panels. The platform affixed to each wall panel holds the platform at an angle of at least eight degrees from the base panel. Upstanding from the lower edge of the platform is a ridge that extends upwardly enough to hold the box from sliding forward but low enough to not interfere with dispensing.
