A first of the cylinders has a working volume that differs from a second of the cylinders. The actuating member is centrally located and the cylinders are arranged radially about the actuating mechanism. The working volume of the cylinders can be varied by adjusting the spacing of the cylinders from the actuating mechanism, thus varying the stroke of pistons housed within the cylinders, and/or by providing the cylinders with different inner diameters. A method of metering fluids includes independently adjusting stroke of a plurality of pistons to adjust the volume of metered fluid, and selecting different cylinder diameters to adjust the volume of metered fluid.

Abstract: A dispensing system and method for dispensing material onto a substrate. The dispensing system includes a frame, a support, coupled to the frame, that supports the substrate at a dispensing position in the dispensing system, and a dispensing head, coupled to the frame, that dispenses the material onto the substrate. The dispensing head includes a motor unit having a first motor coupled to an output drive mechanism, and a dispensing unit, removably coupled to the motor unit, having a material outlet from which the dispensing material is dispensed, the dispensing unit having a dispensing mechanism coupled to the material outlet and coupled to the output drive mechanism of the motor unit such that operation of the first motor causes the dispensing mechanism to dispense material through the outlet. The dispensing head may be controlled for deposition of dots of material having diameters smaller than a dispensing needle of the dispensing unit.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing the time for charging a filter in a liquid dispensing system, such as one utilizing a positive displacement pump, is disclosed. The filter is located at the input side of the pump between the source of the liquid and the pump. In order to prevent air from the filter from entering the pump a reservoir is provided between the filter and the source of the fluid. Air from the filter is vented into the reservoir through a vent tube. A vacuum is used to draw air from the filter and, through the reservoir.

Abstract: An apparatus for raising concrete members and maintaining the members in a raised position. The apparatus may be utilized for raising or leveling flat slabs such as sidewalk sections, driveways and patios or for raising sunken sections of curbs and gutters, and the apparatus includes a portable mud pump and mixing tank to provide grout or mud under the raised members for maintaining same in the raised position. A method for raising the members is carried out by attaching the sunken member to an apparatus including one or more lifting jacks, raising the member by the jacks, and at least partially filling the cavity under the member with a grout or mud. The portable mud pump, which includes a limit switch controlled double-acting air driven piston, is connected to a mud or grout mixing tank via a check valve and withdraws mud from the tank during an intake stroke and forces the mud, during a power or output stroke, into a cavity under a raised concrete member.

Abstract: A disposable atomizer for discharging successive partial discharge amounts as a spray has a base body (12), a projecting nose adapter (13) with a nozzle (14), actuating shoulders (35) where two fingers can rest, and an actuating part, containing an actuating sleeve (25) and a medium store (20), which can be pressed into the base body (12). A hollow needle (17) can penetrate the closure piston-stopper (21) of said medium store (20). A ring (28) is mounted on the actuating sleeve (25) by spokes (29) and predetermined breaking points (30), the ring (28) separating in response to typical actuating pressure when the actuator is used the first time. The spokes (29) strike a stop which thus limits the first partial discharge stroke. By rotating the actuating sleeve (25), the actuating part is moved into a starting position for a second partial discharge stroke, and when intermediate webs in the form of material bridges are broken out, the second partial discharge stroke can be executed.

  • Patent number: 5862959
Abstract: A water displacement block for a beverage brewer, mounted on a pivot and connecting rods and suspended immediately over a hot water tank and which, at a specific time in the brewing cycle, is lowered into the tank, thus causing water to overflow so as to dispense the correct amount of hot water into the brewing machine. Next to the hot water dispensing tank a secondary water tank is mounted which is connected to a water pump driven by the same motor which drives the beverage brewer. During a single cycle, the pump will discharge the same amount of water into the hot water tank as was dispensed when the water displacement block was lowered into the tank. The cold water entering the system is pre-heated because it passes downwardly and under a partition in the tank adjacent the hot water is the discharge portion of the tank.
