Abstract: Dispensing apparatus is provided for dispensing a frozen product, such as ice cream, in portions. The apparatus uses a prefilled container of product which is located in a housing of the apparatus. The container is deformable and has an outlet through which the product issues on the application of drive to the container to deform and reduce the internal volume of the container. Dispensing means is operated by the drive and a valve controls the discharge of product during dispensing. To maintain the product at a low temperature the container and the outlet are located in a refrigerated housing.

  • Patent number: 5058781
Abstract: In the caulking gun disclosed herein, the piston of a caulking cartridge is driven by axial movement of a exteriorly threaded tube which is, in turn, driven by a rotating ring gear which is interiorly threaded to mate with the tube. The threaded tube is longitudinally split so that it can collapse out of engagement with the threads on the ring gear. A tapered plug cooperates with an expandable bushing inside the tube so as to hold the tube in engagement with the threads in the ring gear when the plug is in a first postion but, when the plug is moved to a second position, the bushing allows the tube to collapse thereby releasing pressure from the piston and allowing quick retraction of the split tube to facilitate loading of a new caulking cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4923096
Abstract: This dripless automatic syringe for dispensing fluids has a barrel for containing the fluid, a nozzle for discharging the fluid, and a housing to which the barrel is attached. A piston rod in the housing carries a rigid sealed piston head in the barrel for pushing out the fluid. Behind the piston head a normally unflexed elastic disc in the housing. The disc flexes when the piston rod moves forwardly under a driving force. The disc unflexes to retract the piston rod and piston head slightly when the driving force stops to create a suction which draws fluid back into the nozzle and thereby prevents dripping. The disc has an integral nipple which frictionally grips the rod to hold it in place, when the driving force ceases. The nipple permits axial rearward movement of the piston rod by an externally applied force for filling the barrel with fluid.

  • Patent number: 4826053
Abstract: When using cartridges with delivery plungers, the afterflow of the cartridge content after the action on the piston has stopped, is annoying and undesirable. In a dispenser for such cartridges, which has a ram to act upon the piston as well as a mechanism for driving the ram forward, this drawback is eliminated by the action of at least one retrieval element which is frictionally guided on a ram. The retrieval element is movable longitudinally (distance s) relative to the dispenser body and by way of retrieval springs, engaging at the retrieval element, loadable through the forward drive mechanism. In this way, immediately after each completion of the forward drive of the ram, the ram is guided back and the cartridge plunger as well as the releasable connection between cartridge and dispenser is reduced with respect to stress. This construction has application to dispensers for a single cartridge as well as for double (two-component) cartridges.

  • Patent number: 4406170
Abstract: A repeating pipetting device includes an elongated housing, a flange holder at one end of the housing for holding the flange of a syringe, a coupling assembly for connection to the plunger of the syringe, and a toothed rack connected to the coupling assembly and longitudinally reciprocable relative to the flange holder. A pawl is engageable with the teeth of the rack and is operable to advance the rack toward the flange holder in a succession of steps. An operating lever movable back and forth in the elongated direction of the housing, intermittently operates the pawl, and a return lever retracts the rack from the flange holder. A tongue-like cover or slide is provided within the device and covers the rack for a part of its length. The cover is slidably adjustable along the rack and has a portion engageable by the pawl which limits the extent to which the rack can be advanced by the pawl in each step.

  • Patent number: 4376498
Abstract: A hand-held pneumatic caulking gun wherein self-contained pneumatic pressure is continuously applied to the caulk driving piston of the gun while the piston is held against movement by this pressure until manually released by a piston movement controlling trigger. The gun further includes a breaking system whereby the rate of movement of the piston, after its release by the trigger, may be selectively regulated. The gun provides that the pneumatic pressure operative to drive the piston forward and toward its caulk driving position may be redirected as required to return the piston to its retracted or initial position. Additionally is included apparatus for manually driving the piston backwards against its driving pressure as required to release piston pressure upon the caulking being dispensed.

  • Patent number: 4334636
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for handling gasket-forming material. This material is usually supplied in tubular cartridge form and is dispensed to a screen with a porous pattern which shapes the material to the desired gasket-configuration. The material is spread on the screen and forced through to the other side where the gasket pattern is applied to an adjacent transfer surface of a transfer pad. This pad with the pattern on the transfer surface is moved to a mateable surface of a workpiece located on a support spaced from the screen. The gasket-forming material is then transferred to the mateable surface. The gasket-forming material is dispensed from the cartridge with the aid of a cartridge holder having an opening at one end to receive a spout of the cartridge and having a plunger at the other end with a plunger rod extending outwardly therefrom. A fluid-operated cylinder is aligned with the plunger rod and has a piston connected with the rod.

Abstract: A combined caulking tube plunger and enclosure assembly is disclosed which includes a single piece of drawn metal in generally a cup-shaped configuration including a bottom wall, a circular or annular side wall which forms a close fit with the inside diameter of a caulking tube and which provides guidance of the plunger portion through the caulking tube, and an outer rim which is adapted to be rolled over the outer end of a caulking tube to form a closure and seal therewith. A circumferential break-away score or dart is formed in the side wall axially inwardly of the rim which causes the major portion of the side wall and the bottom wall, forming a plunger, to be broken away from the rim upon the application of force by the ram of a caulking gun thus to separate the plunger portion from the rim portion.
