  • Patent number: 8870032
Abstract: A hand-held dispenser for dry granular materials consists of a reservoir for the material, a removable telescoping rigid tube assembly, and a flexible valve assembly at the bottom of the tube assembly which allows passage of material when the inner tube is pushed into the outer tube. The reservoir includes a handle which allows the apparatus to be hand-held with the valve assembly end pointed downward. The inner tube is rigidly attached to the removable reservoir and can be pumped up and down to a pair of stops to dispense a measured amount of material at the bottom end of the telescoping tubes. The flexible valve can be constructed of a rubber sheet with radial fingers or spring loaded closure which will flex open to dispense material when the inner tube is pushed downward, but will not allow material to flow by gravity alone.

  • Patent number: 8757442
Abstract: A spout for use with a container for dispensing a substance (e.g., a condiment) from the container such that any remaining substance exterior to the container adjacent the spout may be allowed to drain back into the container. A lid may be engaged with a container at an engagement portion. A spout portion of the lid that is positionable between a dispensing position and a storage position may define an orifice. The orifice may provide for communication between an interior volume of the container and an exterior of the container. Thus, the substance may be dispensed through the orifice. Furthermore, when in the storage position, the spout portion may direct any remaining substance on an exterior portion of the spout portion through the orifice and back into the container. Thus, a cleaner and more sanitary top of the container may be realized.

  • Patent number: 8708980
Abstract: One applicator for use with ointment includes a housing defining a holding chamber. The holding chamber has a single entrance distinct from a single exit and is flexible such that deformation of the housing reduces capacity of the holding chamber and forces contents of the holding chamber to pass through the exit. A one-way valve is at the entrance for allowing the ointment to enter the holding chamber through the entrance and restricting the ointment from exiting the holding chamber through the entrance. A tip extends from the housing adjacent the exit. The tip has a proximal end meeting the housing and a pliant distal end spaced apart from the housing. The tip distal end is flared from the tip proximal end and has a generally planar leading surface. A channel in the tip extends from the exit to the leading surface, and is flared at the leading surface.

  • Patent number: 8240521
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a fluid includes a rigid vial that has a main fluid chamber containing a fluid, and a pump assembly that is in fluid communication with the main fluid chamber and is configured to dispense a predetermined quantity of fluid from the main fluid chamber. A flexible bladder is provided which is located within the main fluid chamber and is configured to expand to fill the ullage created within the main fluid chamber during dispensing of fluid by the pump assembly. The resilient bladder tends to force itself outwardly toward the rigid vial and, in turn, increases the pressure within the main fluid chamber in comparison to the interior of the bladder to thereby prevent the ingress of air or vapors through the bladder or otherwise into the main fluid chamber.

  • Patent number: 7637400
Abstract: A container and valve assembly for storing and dispensing substances including edible substances. The container is a tubular body that defines a storage chamber for storing the substance and a head portion for supports the valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a valve body and a valve seat surrounded by a flexible outer cover that includes a valve portion. A seem between the valve portion and valve seat form a one-way release valve wherein a portion of the seam remains closed when the substance is dispensed. To dispense the substance, pressure is applied to the body forcing the substance into the valve assembly, which in turn, controls the flow and release of the substance without exposing the remaining substance to the external atmosphere; thus, the sterility of the storage chamber and remaining substance is maintained, and the shelf life of the substance is increased.

Abstract: A tube stand has a base with an interior space for receiving a spent portion of a tube, a panel removably attached to the bottom of the base, and a sleeve removably attached to the cover of the base. The sleeve preferably has a pseudo-conical shape with a circular transverse cross-section at its top end and an elliptical transverse cross-section at its bottom end. The sleeve provides vertical support for the upper portion of the tube but is advantageously removed to allow the base to still neatly hold the tube in an accessible manner when it is nearly empty. An alternative embodiment uses a lid with wedge blocks having V-shaped ramp surfaces that guide the end of the tube into a slot, the ramp surfaces providing lateral support for the tube.

  • Patent number: 5553740
Abstract: A device for pumping controlled amounts of flowable materials having a wide range of viscosities, such as condiments for food, from a bag having flexible walls. The device is comprised of a container to hold the flexible bag, a piston to drive a controlled motion mechanism to compress the bag, a sealing mechanism to seal the bag to constrain flow through a wide range of nozzles, a cutting device to pierce the bag when a seal has been obtained, an exit nozzle(s) to discharge the fluid and to maintain the temperature of the exit nozzle(s). Multiple connections may be made to multiple dispensing points. Dispensing of exact quantities of the flowable material is accomplished by controlling the position of the piston by a stepping servomechanism to displace an exact volume of the flowable material at the exit nozzle. Nozzle temperature is equalized to that of the material in the container by provision of air passages through the nozzle.
