  • Patent number: 4545514
Abstract: An upper torso frame includes a pair of vertical members with a waist well extending between and connected to the lower end portions of the vertical members. A shoulder member is positioned on the vertical members upper end portions. The shoulder member is connected to the upper ends of the vertical members for forward and backward pivotal movement. A pivot carrying link is connected by friction hinges at one end to each vertical member upper end portion and at the opposite end to the upper portion of an arm member so as to pivotally connect a pair of arm members to the upper torso frame. The pivot carrying link is pivotal on the torso frame and each arm member is pivotal on the pivot carrying link to thereby provide multiple degrees of pivotal movement of the arm members relative to the upper torso frame.

  • Patent number: 4474316
Abstract: A tie hanger comprising a closet hanger having a lower horizontal bar with a non-circular cross-section, and a plurality of hanger cards having holes conforming to the non-circular cross-section of the bar, the cards being mounted on the bar via said holes for sliding movement thereon. Each card is symmetrical about a vertical plane passing through the support hole, and has parallel pairs of wings with slots between them for supporting ties. The lower wings are wider than the upper wings to facilitate insertion and removal of ties, and the hanger bar has an I-shaped cross-section and an openable end. A pair of protuberances extends into the support hole to frictionally engage the sides of the hanger bar, so as to prevent the card from sliding along the bar and bunching up with other cards.

  • Patent number: 4460092
Abstract: A long-term security system for use with a horizontal pole rack utilizes a hanger having a standard open loop portion and opposed inclined shoulder confronting portions. The system comprises, in addition to the hanger: a chain of sufficient length so that the chain ends may be passed over the pole, outwardly to the ends of the shoulder confronting portions of the hanger, downwardly through the sleeves of the garment, and inwardly towards each other; hooks at the ends of the shoulder confronting portions of the hanger for supporting the chain so that the segments passing through the sleeves hang freely; and a lock for locking the ends of the chain together to form a closed loop around the pole and through the garment. This system is preferably implemented in combination with a garment bag of the standard zippered variety. The garment bag is provided with a fabric tongue that carries a rigid panel that engages the chain at the sleeve ends to help maintain the chain segments in the sleeves vertical.

  • Patent number: 4363430
Abstract: Apparatus having a pair of arms that are oppositely directed and which are adapted to suspend a garment includes a hook that is located intermediate the free ends of the arms for suspending the hanger and garment from a rail. In one embodiment, a bar that is substantially rigid and inflexible has one end secured to the hook and extends downwardly therefrom. Another embodiment includes a crossmember that joins the free end of the arms and the secured end of the bar is swingably attached to the crossmember. A further embodiment retains the bar in a swingably captive position on the crossmember. In still another embodiment, the arms, crossmember, hook and bar comprise an integral, unitary structure that is more simple to construct. The bar in each embodiment has a smooth, regular surface to prevent snagging the garment and it is sufficiently long to prevent rolling up the hanger and garment into a small size which otherwise would facilitate its theft.
