Abstract: A backpack has a pair of vertical posts, a base connected to the posts, and an extension that is slidable within the base. Various accessories such as tree claws and clamps for holding guns and bows are attachable to the base and extension. By sliding the extension within the base, the distance between the tree claws or clamps can be adjusted. A seat having a concave undersurface is pivotally connected to the post. When in a folded mode, the seat nests between the posts, and the seat undersurface bears against the back of the person to thereby make the backpack comfortable to carry.

Abstract: A harness to enable the wearer to carry an article such as breathing apparatus comprises a waist belt (9) carrying a waist plate (1) to which a back plate (21) is secured. The harness includes shoulder straps (20) and a coupling (41,50) for securing the article to it. The back plate (21) is moveable with respect to the waist plate (1) to facilitate movement of the wearer's body.

Abstract: An elongated post includes a sleeve and an extension, the extension slidably retained within the sleeve. A handle is disposed at a free end of the extension. The sleeve has a first end near the handle and a second end opposite the first end. A pair of cylinder rests is provided, one each of the rests positioned on each of two opposite sides of the sleeve at the second end of the sleeve. The cylinder rests are foldable against the sleeve. A pair of cylinder straps is disposed on each side of the sleeve. Each pair of cylinder straps is adapted for holding a cylinder to the post, such that a distal end of the cylinder rests against one of the cylinder rests. The cylinder straps are foldable against the sleeve. A pair of shoulder straps is attached to the post for wearing the post on a human back. A pair of wheels is disposed at the second end of the sleeve.

Abstract: An internal frame backpack (10) includes a pack (12) having an anterior side (14) that contacts a user's back, and left and right shoulder straps (10, 18) attached at an upper end to an upper portion (20) of the pack and at a lower end to left and right lower portions (44, 46) of the pack. The pack includes an internal frame formed from an elastomeric pad (24) integrated into the anterior side of the pack, and resilient left and right rods (26, 28) mounted within the pack and secured to the elastomeric pad. The resilient rods act as coil springs which support loads in the pack with a degree of flexibility that varies in response to the magnitude of the load.

Abstract: A portage system for supporting light watercraft such as a canoe or kayak includes a frame having opposed first and second upright arms, a plurality of cross-struts interconnecting the arms, a pair of shoulder straps secured to a cross strut and a hip belt secured adjacent bottom ends of the upright members to removably secure the frame to a user. First and second thwart cradles are adjustably secured to top ends of the first and second upright arms so that a center thwart of the watercraft may engage the first and second thwart cradles to support the watercraft at varying heights above the user.

Abstract: A garment bag backpack for freeing a user's hands while traveling. The inventive device includes a main support having a pair of shoulder straps secured thereto. The main support has a waist strap secured thereto. The shoulder straps and the waist strap couple the main support to a torso of a user. A pair of garment supports are rotatably coupled with the main support. Each of the garment supports have a generally U-shaped configuration. A cover is dimensioned for positioning over the main support and the pair of garment supports. The cover has zippered closure.

Abstract: A system for carrying articles on one's back consists of a load carrier (1) integral with a back part of a carrying harness including a waist strap (3) and shoulder straps fastened to the bottom (9) and to the top of the back part. The system also includes a U-shaped rigid frame fastened to the back part. Preferably, the free ends of the U-shaped frame are retained in a rear face of the waist strap. A pair of spacers having an inverted V-shape interconnect the waist strap and the bottom of the back part and define a ventilation space for the sweat of the wearer. Preferably, the system is designed for an ergonomic backpack.

Abstract: An improved universal adjustable modular load backpack for carrying heavy loads to be used in conjunction with a multi-functional, soldier-centered, computer enhanced warfare system includes storage modules releasably mounted on a flexible pack frame extending the wearer's level of comfort and range of motion. The storage modules provide for a versatile pack load configuration and may be quickly withdrawn from the pack frame by the wearer without removing the pack frame. The pack frame is also provided with an integrated adjustment mechanism for selectively increasing or decreasing the length of the shoulder support straps and rib-cage straps of the backpack, and the distance between the waist belt and the pack frame so as to adapt to the wearer's torso and waist without having to remove the backpack from the wearer's back.

Abstract: A load carrying system comprising a pack frame and a waist-encircling belt. he pack frame is adapted for fastening around the body of a wearer and includes a top end, a bottom end and a male formation extending substantially downward from the frame bottom end. The male formation has an engagement portion. The waist-encircling belt has a wearer facing side, an exterior side, a pair of ends and a complementary pair of fasteners. Each fastener is attached to a respective end of the belt. The belt further includes a receptacle attached to the exterior side of the belt and located substantially midway between the belt ends. The receptacle has an opening and is sized for receiving the male formation. The load-carrying system further includes at least one interfering member attached to the receptacle and positioned within the receptacle opening. The interfering member is adapted for engaging the engagement portion of the male formation.

Abstract: The backpack includes a pin that extends from a first frame. The first frame supports a bag or equipment that is carried by an end user. The backpack also includes a second frame that is worn by the end user. The second frame has a spring biased lock rod that moves between a lock position and a release position. In the lock position the rod engages the pin and attaches the first frame to the second frame. The lock rod is attached to a cord which can be pulled to move the rod to the release position. To release the backpack, the end user pulls the cord to disengage the lock rod from the pin. The pin is then separated from the rod to release the first frame from the second frame. The backpack can be re-attached by inserting the pin with the spring biased lock rod.

Abstract: A rucksack includes a bag portion, a back portion secured to the bag portion, and a reinforcing frame. The frame has an inverted U-shape including a pair of depending branch portions and a connecting portion secured to an outer face of the back portion. The rucksack also includes a linking piece formed from a pair of curved plates secured at respective lateral ends and defining an open cavity sized for allowing passage of the extending branch portions therethrough. A pair of shoulder straps extends from the upper end of the linking piece. According to the invention, the outer face of the back portion includes a first pair of coupling strips for contacting a corresponding second pair of coupling strips on the linking piece, allowing releasable attachment of the linking piece to the back portion of the rucksack and allowing simultaneous repositioning of the shoulder straps of the rucksack, depending on the morphology of a wearer's back.

Abstract: A backpack comprising a bag, a frame for supporting the bag, a slider carrying a shoulder harness slidable up and down on the frame to adjust the position of the shoulder harness to suit a person wearing the backpack, and strips of VELCRO material secured respectively to the slider and the bag for releasably fastening the slider in adjusted position heightwise of the frame.

Abstract: A convertible pack frame which, in a first configuration allows the user to wear the pack simply around the waist or lower torso leaving the upper body unrestrained thereby facilitating the hunter's movement through and over rugged terrain and which in an alternate or second configuration may be used to lash or otherwise secure substantial loads including game for the purpose of transporting such loads. The convertible packing frame also provides a means for readily converting the system from a first configuration to a second configuration together with means for conveniently stowing those parts not required in the second configuration, i.e. the pack frame configuration, in a compartment provided when the apparatus is arranged in the first configuration.

Abstract: An articulated backpack apparatus for transporting material while attached to a user in which an upper storage element of the apparatus is capable of pivotal movement in relationship to a lower storage element of the apparatus while attached to the user. The backpack apparatus is capable of being collapsed into a satchel orientation so that the backpack apparatus may be carried by hand. From the satchel orientation the upper storage element and lower storage element may be moved apart by a pair of extensible supports so that the backpack apparatus may be secured over the wheel of bicycle in a pannier orientation. Additionally, the backpack apparatus is provided with a pull handle, an extensible shaft, and wheels, so that the backpack apparatus may be rolled along the ground in a pull cart orientation.

Abstract: Disclosed is a lightweight backpack and its frame. The design of the frame accommodates use as a structure for shaping and supporting a recreational hiking or military infantry backpack while in a folded and compact arrangement, and additionally, accommodates use for shaping and supporting material for use as a sleeping cot able to support the body weight of a human while in and unfolded elongated arrangement. In either the folded or unfolded arrangement, the backpack may be easily removed or reattached to the frame. The cot material is also easily detachable for purposes of replacement of worn material and its arrangement in conjunction with the frame is also intended to serve in part as padding and back support for the wearer. The hinge and lock at the frame's hinge joints aids the user in fold out and break down of the frame and also adds strength to the frame while in both the folded and unfolded position.
