Abstract: A molded handgun holster having rigid inner and outer spaced sidewalls joined together along the front and lower back portions to define an inner expandable cavity with an open expandable top, the improvement including two separate handgun securing straps with tabs for unlocking those straps concealed by portions of the weapon, but releaseable simultaneously by the wearer while grasping the handle of the handgun; one strap having a thumb engaging releaseable fastener and adapted to press the handgun downwardly in the holster; and the other strap having a middle finger engaging releaseable fastener and adapted to prevent the inner cavity and open top from expanding when fastened but permitting a limited expansion of both when unfastened; and a molded ledge on the inside of the holster to engage an edge of the handgun when the inner cavity is not expanded.

Abstract: A universal clip for carrying objects such as a holster or other object on the belt of a wearer. The clip includes an elongated body of generally flat material such as sheet metal with an integral hinge pin socket at one end region and a pair of integral catches at the other end region. A resilient member such as a length of spring wire extends through the integral hinge and pivots into a spaced parallel relationship with the body and is secured by the integral catches. The resiliency of the spring wire allows reliable engagement with the catches. The body and the leg portions of the spring wire define a flat tunnel through the clip for receiving the wearer's belt. The integral hinge pin socket extends generally from side to side of the clip and thereby provides a stable support for any object carried.

Abstract: A protective covering device for rifles includes an integral fiber cloth sheet elastic nature shaped to fit the wooden portion of a rifle; each opposite longitudinal edge of the fiber sheet being applied with adhesive agent and sewn together to constitute a covering body with a single waterproof seam formed thereat; a fastening device longitudinally provided in an opening located in the middle of one side of the covering body; and a butt piece of soft material closely connected with the lower end of the covering body, so that the structure of the protective covering device provides effective protection for the wooden portions of a rifle.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a safety apparatus which is specifically adapted to prevent inadvertent access to the trigger of a firearm. A band of flexible material is wrapped about the trigger guard, trigger and breech of a rifle or pistol. An elastic or stretchable insert is mounted within one end of the band and adapted to fit about the trigger guard to maintain the band in a fixed location. One end of the band is detachably coupled to the other fixing the band in place to prevent inadvertent contact with the trigger of the firearm which is disposed between the elastic member and the adjacent surfaces of the securing band.

Abstract: An improved holster comprising a sheet of compressible material or a composite including a compressible layer formed into a pouch to hold a handgun with an edge seam at the rear. At the front inside of the holster is a stiffener member secured to the holster sheet material by at least one generally vertical stitch line. The stitch line distorts the compressible material and the stiffening member to form a front groove for receiving the barrel and front sight of the handgun. A protective sleeve may cover the stiffener. An improved universally adjustable strap arrangement includes hook and pile type fabric on an inner face of a belt loop formed in the holster body and the mating hook and pile material on one face of the flat strap. The angle and length of the strap may be adjusted by relative movement of the strap within the belt loop. Securement of one end of the strap results from engagement of the hook and pile fabric and is insured by pressure from the wearer's belt when worn.

Abstract: An ambidextrious military type holster designed for belt, leg, chest or shoulder carrying with or without a flap. The holster employs a layered body with the outer two layers defining pairs of horizontally disposed and vertically disposed slots on each major face of the holster adapted to receive a belt on either side through the horizontally disposed pairs of slots or a clip through the vertically disposed pairs of slots. The flap may be secured by the clip and includes an extensible strap and hook for securing the flap to the holster body by one of the slots. The clip includes a generally planar body defining a pair of facing opening catches at one end and a hinge at the opposite end. A resilient member forms the hinge pin of the hinge and includes a pair of resilient legs which are pivotal over the generally planar body and includes knee portions which engage the catches and define a belt or strap slot with the body. An extender strap allows the holster to be used as a leg holster.

Abstract: A protective hand gun holster with an abrasion-resistant longitudinal spine structure capable of receiving hand guns with protruding sharp sights. The spine structure takes the form of a heavy, wear-resistant web treated with a polymer to prevent snagging and tearing by a gun sight.

Abstract: A handgun holster having a separable flap for covering part of the top opening of the holster pocket. The flap is secured by separable fasteners having one part of the fastener on the holster body and a mating fastener part on the flap on one side of the holster and a second separable fastener on the other side of the holster body having one fastener part on the holster body and a mating fastener part on the cover flap which secures the second side of the cover flap and also secures a belt loop to the holster body.

Abstract: A holster for handguns, such as pistols, where the holster positions the handgun generally in the armpit area of the owner with its muzzle pointed downwardly and its grip butt facing forwardly. The holster generally is of the rear opening spring loaded type, although since it is worn for across the body draw, it actually opens toward the front of the user. Each upper side of the folded construction of the holster extends upwardly to form overlapping tabs having means such as Velcro hooks and loops to hold the tabs together and connect the tabs to the opposite ends of a shoulder strap which forms the primary support for the holster. The ends of the shoulder strap also include Velcro for engagement with the Velcro of the holster tabs.

Abstract: A body pocket carrier, especially a weapon holster carrier for wearing on a female body part such as the arm, waist or leg, (calf or thigh) under an outer garment, comprising a flexible belt member, preferably elastic, carrying on its front surface at least one pocket, e.g. weapon holster, the belt member being preferably provided with Velcro type closure means and of extra length with means permitting the wearer to remove enough of such length to fit her body part. In a preferred embodiment, a midriff belt member carrying two front weapon holsters is preferably adjustably and removably attached to a similar thigh belt member carrying weapon holster.

Abstract: A holster made of two matching pieces of material joined together to form a double-ended gun pocket, shaped to fit a particular gun and contain substantial portions of it. The holster has a belt loop on each face of the gun pocket and a belt slot through both faces outside of the trigger guard area, which position the gun and holster on a belt at an acute angle from the vertical, such that a forward-tilt and a cross-draw slant mode of carry are both made possible by inverting the holster and thus reversing the angle. Reversing the holster laterally changes it from right-handed to left-handed.

Abstract: A handgun holster includes a strap which is adjustably positionable on a wearer's belt, and a bluing protection pad having one end adjustably secured to the strap and the other end to the belt. In use, the bluing protection pad is folded between the belt and the strap to define an adjustable gun receiving pocket capable of securing a wide variety of handguns. The interior of the gun receiving pocket is lined to protect and preserve the gun's blued finish, and such protection is enhanced by the treatment of the liner with a light film of oil.

Abstract: An accuracy control harness for use with handguns is proposed in which a wide strap arranged to extend across the back of a wearer terminates beneath each of the arms of the wearer. Another strap of greater length is slidably secured to the back strap with one end of this latter strap being adjustably secured to one end thereof in front of the user. The longer strap also includes a terminal portion having a handgun receiving loop.

Abstract: A holster which comprises a holster body having on its inner face a fastener part which constitutes the pivot axis for the holster body. A rigid plate surrounds the fastener part and includes a number of detents in a circular array. A belt loop assembly includes a pair of snap fasteners to allow the belt loop to be opened and closed to encircle a section of the wearer's belt. The snap fasteners themselves have one part secured to a rigid plate which includes a circular array of mating detents. The rigid plate of the belt loop includes the mating fastener part for the mating fastener part affixed to the holster body. The fastener holding the holster body to the belt loop is preferably a T nut on the holster body and a mating screw at the belt loop.The T nut and screw provide a central pivot for the holster body with respect to the belt loop and the mating detent parts, one on the holster body and one on the belt loop providing the adjustment feature.

The holster is formed with a sandwich-like construction, including an inner liner web in the form of a soft-surfaced fabric for protecting a received handgun against marring, an intermediate memory web in the form of an elastomer which provides the holster with contracted-shape memory enabling it to receive handguns of different sizes easily, and an outer shell web in the form of a relatively stiff, tear-and-abrasion-resistant fabric.

Abstract: A nylon fabric holster for hand guns having strap-like tabs secured together by hook and loop fasteners for holding the hand gun in the holster. The tabs may be separated by running the thumb between the hook and loop fasteners. However, the hammer spur associated with the hand gun is pressed against the inner surfaces of the tabs upon forcible withdrawal of the hand gun from the holster to prevent the tabs from separating. The tab construction thus prevents the hand gun from being forcibly removed from the holster when the tabs are secured together.

Abstract: A holster which retards migration of saline moisture such as perspiration to the enclosed weapon. A laminate defines an outer moisture resistant layer and an intermediate layer which serves as a hydrophilic attractant to sacrificially accept moisture to the exclusion of the leather adjacent the gun.

Abstract: On certain handguns, the firing pin protrudes through the rear of the weapon when the weapon is cocked, as an indication of the condition of the weapon. In the uncocked condition, the weapon is held in a holster by the retaining strap which has a conventional female snap which mates with a male snap mounted on the weapon around the firing pin extension orfice. Grasping the weapon, in the holster, and cocking the weapon by depressing the squeeze cocker, automatically cocks the weapon causing the firing pin to extend rearward, popping off the female snap and releasing the weapon to be withdrawn from the holster.

Abstract: A revolver pistol holster having a trigger-guard-retaining upper rearward top wall and a W-shaped spring mounted on holster upper forward opposing side walls biasing the holster upper-forward side-wall portions toward one-another, with a central portion of the W-shaped spring being mounted against a forward wall portion connecting the side wall, such that the forward wall portion at an upper location is biased toward the trigger-guard-retaining upper rearward top wall whereby a holstered pistol is biased into a trigger-guard-retained position within the holster, and an upper forward portion of an inward side wall having a major upwardly projecting portion serving as a thumb-brace facilitatable of drawing a holstered pistol grip-handle upwardly and forwardly.

Abstract: A rust-preventive firearm receptacle comprising a water-vapor-impervious material cover defining a cavity, a vapor-phase anti-rust inhibitor insert with active vapor-phase anti-rust inhibitor, a soft interior, including a pocket attached to the interior for replaceably receiving the insert, and a tape device mounted about the perimeter of the receptacle to seal the interior cavity thereof from outside air. The invention is generally used by placing a chemical carrier insert into the cavity pocket such that when the firearm is carried within the sealed cavity of the receptacle, it is surrounded by the vapor-phase inhibitor emanating out of the insert. When inactive, the insert can be replaced.

Abstract: YA firearm carrying case, as it appears closed, comprises an outer fabric shell encasing two aluminum support walls positioned in a substantially parallel relationship and spaced-apart by two convoluted, interlocking foam beddings. The outer shell includes a three-sided zipper gusset and one-sided hinging gusset sewn along two side panels of the firearm carrying case. Opening the outer shell forms two identical half pieces, each defining a cavity within the firearm carrying case.

Abstract: A man portable shoulder fired rocket weapon system including a two section tubular launcher, sections of which are hingedly foldable one over the other to reduce the launcher length for storage and transport, and permitting the launcher to be holster carried in the manner of a sidearm. A lock and seal coupling connects the unfolded launcher tube sections to extend the launcher for firing and also serves as a safety element in the firing circuit. Two tubular blast shields are mounted concentrically upon the launch tube sections and are extendable therefrom to further lengthen the launcher and provide protection for the user against rocket motor exhaust. A compatible rocket round is carried in the folded launcher as a ready round. A waist worn holster and reload pack complete the weapon system elements.

Abstract: One embodiment of this invention provides a holster for holding a hand gun. The holster includes a generally U-shaped mounting spring under stiff tension against the exterior inside face of the holster. The mounting spring has a U-shaped fastening portion that fits into a pocket on the inside face of the holster. A fastener extends through the side wall of the holster to secure the fastening portion of the spring to the holster. The holster can be worn without threading a belt through a belt loop on the holster. Instead, the mounting spring firmly but releasably clips the holster to the waistband of the user's trousers, or over the user's belt. The spring can be pulled away from the side of the holster against the bias of the spring to provide a gap for slipping the holster over the waistband or the belt, after which the spring is released, allowing the bias of the spring to clamp the holster firmly in place.

Abstract: Disclosed is a belt and holster combination wherein the holster is removable from and attachable to the belt without opening or removing the belt from about the individual wearing the holster. The belt includes an elastic portion, adjacent opposite ends of which are carried clips which open in laterally opposite directions one from the other. The holster has a pair of laterally spaced D-loops pivotally carried by the holster body. When the belt is tensioned to stretch the elastic portion, the belt clips and holster D-loops register and are connected one with the other. The tension on the belt caused by strapping the belt about the individual's waist maintains the connection between the holster and the belt. The holster is attached to an detachable from the belt while the latter is worn by an individual simply by connecting or disconnecting each D-loop relative to its associated belt clip.

Abstract: A holster for holding a handgun having a safety strap integrated with a quick release mechanism to hold the handgun in place until released by the user. The strap extends from an exposed portion of the holster over a part of the handgun and cooperates with a complementary member and the release mechanism integrated therewith for releasing the strap from the complementary member thereby allowing the gun to be withdrawn. This release mechanism is located sufficiently within the outer dimensions of the handgun and the holster to impede substantially inadvertent actuation.

Abstract: An improved vestlike weapon carrier providing concealed and comfortable carrying of a handgun by a plain clothes law enforcement officer. The handgun is supported under one arm and an ammunition pouch under the other. The handgun is held in a holster having a thumb release retainer strap and a body which is formed to match the contour of the frame and barrel of the handgun. The handgun is supported with the barrel muzzle slightly elevated for natural action cross-drawing by the officer. The holster is supported by a crescent shaped shoulder strap and a pair of "D" rings secured to the holster at the muzzle region and the chamber region of the handgun for balanced carriage. A similar crescent shaped shoulder strap supports a generally "Y" shaped ammunition or clip carrier. The shoulder straps are joined by elastic straps extending across the back of the wearer. No straps extend across the chest of the wearer.

Abstract: A combination hand gun holster and belt is provided. The combination comprises a holster having inner and outer side panels which assist in forming a tapering configuration for conformably receiving a hand gun. The holster has an open end for insertion and withdrawal therethrough of the gun. The belt is attached to the inner side panel of the holster and suspends the holster on one side of the waist of a person. A retaining member is provided having first and second ends. The member is attached at the first end to the outer side panel of the open end of the holster. A means is provided for detachably mounting the second end of the retaining member to the belt. Thus when the retaining member is mounted to the belt the hand gun is safely retained in the holster and cannot be withdrawn therefrom. A release means is provided which is attached to the belt for automatically detaching the retaining member from the belt.

Abstract: A holster for a handgun comprises a case for receiving the handgun and a flap member mounted on the case. The flap member provides a cover member for the handgun having an offset hinge associated therewith. The offset hinge comprises a pair of spaced apart arms extending from the cover member and pivotally mounted to the case to provide for swinging movement of the cover through a path clear of the case between open and closed positions. In the open position the cover member is clear of the top of the case and at an over-center position relative to the axis of pivot so as to be maintained thereat. Snap fasteners, separate from the offset hinge, secure the cover to the case in the closed position to assure a maximum degree of safety, security and protection to the holstered handgun.

Abstract: This invention relates to a reinforcing arrangement for strengthening the back seam and outer face of a holster for guns or like items. The reinforcing arrangement of the present invention is comprised of a reinforcing piece which is attached to the inner surface of the holster's outer wall. The reinforcing piece includes a protruding arm which extends outward from the back seam. The protruding arm is folded around the back edge of the holster's outer wall so that a portion of the arm overlaps the outer surface of the outer wall. A rivet is then used to further secure the inner and outer walls of the holster to each other. The rivet passes through a channel which is formed by a hole in the portion of the arm which overlaps the outer surface of the outer wall, a hole in the outer wall of the holster, a hole in the portion of the arm which passes between the back edges of the holster's outer and inner walls, and a hole in the holster's inner wall.

Abstract: An improved pistol holster features lock-in means to prevent removal of the gun from the holster by an unauthorized person or by fall or other unexpected movement of the wearer of the holster. A pin attached to a flexible strap or flap on the outer wall of the holster extends through the trigger guard of the pistol and the end of the pin is captured in holding means fastened to the inner wall of the holster. Thus, the locked-in pistol cannot be withdrawn from the holster without first pulling the strap to separate the pin from the holding means.

Abstract: A pistol holster has features that allow the safety strap to be adjusted to accommodate different sizes of pistols. The safety strap has an outer end secured to the outer portion of the holster body by a releasable fastener. The inner end of the safety strap is secured also by a releasable fastener. The inner fastener allows the strap to be fastened at various points along the length of the holster to vary the dimensions of the loop defined by the strap. The strap passes through a slot in the side of the holster to retain it. A flap depends from the top of the holster for protecting the inner fastener. Preferably, the inner fastener consists of strips of material that adhere to each other when pressed into contact.

Abstract: A front-opening holster for handguns such as pistols, has an inner liner and an outer facing which encase the barrel, body and trigger portions of the gun, the facing and liner portions extending along the sides of the barrel and being biased together by a spring therebetween to enclose the gun from its muzzle to its trigger. A pivot on the holster fits between the trigger guard and the handle of the gun, so that with the gun in a normal hip position, it may be drawn by grasping the exposed handle and rotating it about the pivot to open the holster front by separating the liner and the facing until the heretofore protected trigger and barrel clear the holster, whereupon the gun is ready for firing.

Abstract: A holster which is adapted to be used with a particular type of pistol wherein the pistol has a slide which is movable with respect to the barrel and movement of the slide causes charging of the pistol. The holster includes a sheath which is adapted to be located closely about the free end of the slide of the pistol. The sheath includes a stop in the form of a protuberance which is to engage with the slide and prevent relative movement in one direction of the slide. Movement in this one direction causes the barrel to protrude from the slide resulting in the necessary motion to cause charging of the pistol.

Abstract: A plastic clamshell holster comprising an elongated strap connected to the outer sidewall, spanning the upper end of a forward slot and including an end portion having a snap element adapted to engage a snap element on the inner sidewall adjacent the slot. A flap having a manually engageable tab for moving the flap outwardly of the holster is connected to the inner sidewall, biased inwardly adjacent the slot and includes an opening permitting the snap elements to interengage when the flap is positioned between the inner sidewall and the strap end portion. An elongated brace element located between rear portions of the sidewalls includes a stop portion for engaging a rear portion of a handgun trigger guard and a muzzle lock having an end portion for extending into a handgun muzzle. The holster is supported outwardly of the wearer by a mounting bracket which defines a clearing space therebetween permitting the flap to be moved away from the inner sidewall.

Abstract: A front opening holster for semi-automatic and other pistols. The holster includes a body of leather formed into a U-shaped pocket with the base of the U located at the rear. The body is maintained in a weapon holding shape and the front opening formed by the ends of the U held closed by a pair of sheet metal spring members held together at the rear of the holster by a spacer block. The top of the spacer provides a rest and stop for the trigger guard of the weapon. A cantilevered spring member carrying a shaped locking member is secured to the holster body on one side. A relatively rigid backing plate is positioned on the opposite side of the holster body. The shaped locking member when engaged by the trigger guard moves out of the way to allow the trigger guard to pass. A restraining strap allows the spring member and locking members to deflect outward and rearward but not in the forward direction.

Abstract: A holster includes a safety strap which extends over a firearm carried in the holster. An adjustable snap ring fastener on an inside face of the holster attaches to a fastener on the end of the safety strap for securing the safety strap over the hammer of the firearm. The adjustable snap ring fastener overlies a narrow, elongated opening in the wall of the holster, and an adjustment screw of the inside face of the holster releasably secures the snap ring fastener over the opening. The adjustment screw is fastened to a bushing on the outside face of the holster. The adjustment screw can be loosened to permit sliding movement of the snap ring fastener to a selected position on the holster. A thin metal reinforcing member fastened to the outside face of the holster has a narrow, elongated opening that registers with the elongated opening in the wall of the holster. Sliding movement of the snap ring fastener is guided by the bushing which rides in the elongated opening of the reinforcing member.

Abstract: A thumb break type front opening holster employing a body of leather or leather-like material defining a holster retaining cavity having a top opening for insertion of the weapon into the holster and a front opening for removal of the weapon. The weapon is held in place by a strap secured to the outer side of the holster by a permanent but pivoted connection. The strap includes one-half of a snap fastener at its upper or free end designed to be engaged to a portion of the holster to hold the weapon in place. The mating half of the snap fastener is secured to a relatively rigid pivoted thumb break tab which is secured to the holster at an upper extremity. The thumb break tab is fashioned of leather or leather-like material and mounts the mating snap fastener half for the strap. Contained within the tab is a reinforcement member in the shape of an inverted U with outward extending legs extending laterally beyond the width tab.

Abstract: A vest-type shoulder holster for carrying a firearm comprises a vest for being worn on the upper body, and a pocket on an inside portion of the vest overlying a side of the chest region generally under the arm. A holster is carried in the pocket in a concealed manner when a coat is worn over the vest. The pocket extends upwardly and frontward on an angle and faces toward the opposite side of the vest. Cooperating fasteners are located inside the pocket and on the holster for releasably securing the holster in the pocket. A second inside pocket can be provided in a similar location on the opposite side of the vest for carrying accessories.

Abstract: A method of securing a holster to the shoulder of a person wearing a neck encircling garment, such as a tie, by encircling the shoulder of the person with a loop and connecting this loop to the neck encircling garment. The loop can be connected to the neck encircling garment with a second smaller loop which engages around the neck encircling garment and which engages in slots formed in the first loop.

Abstract: A holster assembly for handguns and the like is disclosed, having a wide range of uses, adapted to be supported under the arm in the armpit on either side thereof attached to a shoulder harness or attached to either leg.

Abstract: To protect the finish of hand guns, rifles and firearms from rust and corrosion, a fabric cover is provided having an interior pile facing which is treated with a petroleum distillate mixture having metal protecting qualities. The fabric cover is capable of breathing. The cover can be used as a lining for a gun storage case or holster.

Abstract: Apparatus for mounting and locking a hand gun on a vehicle. The apparatus includes a mounting bracket which is fastenable to the vehicle, and a holster bracket having an attached hand gun holster. A pair of laterally spaced channels on opposed sides of the mounting bracket slidably receive laterally spaced flanges formed on associated sides of the holster bracket, for detachably mounting the holster bracket on the mounting bracket. With the holster bracket so mounted, a projection carried thereon is received within a slot formed in the mounting bracket. A cable lock threaded through the projection, with such received in the slot, and through the finger guard of a gun carried in the holster, prevents removal of the gun from the vehicle.

Abstract: A holster incorporating a spring locking member which engages a portion of a handgun to provide a physical restraint upon the holstering or drawing of the handgun to prevent inadvertent removal of the weapon or accidental loss of the handgun when the user is in strenuous movement. The spring locking member includes a leaf spring secured to the body of the holster at one end carrying at its other end a protruding head having tapered surfaces which will enter and obstruct a portion of the trigger guard region. The protruding head is not of sufficient size to contact the trigger when the handgun is fully home e.g. bottomed out in the holster. The spring member has sufficient resistance to deflection such that the weight of the handgun plus any acceleration due to strenuous activity of the user is insufficient to cause the weapon to be dislodged.

Abstract: A belt loop for a gun holster made from a thin strip of material which is formed into a loop which is to swivel upon the pistol supporting housing of a holster. The belt being worn by the wearer is to pass through the loop. The ends of the loop are detachable connected together so as to permit attachment and detachment with the belt.
