    Abstract: A first pair of generally cylindrical rollers are positioned on a run-out table. Each of the rollers has a first section including the first end of the rollers which is of a first diameter, a second section including the second end of the rollers of a second, larger diameter and a third section of changing diameter which forms a slope on the surface of the rollers joining the surfaces of the first and second sections. Each roller has its first and second ends mounted on opposite sides of the run-out table with respect to the other roller in the pair. A strip centered on the run-out table rests entirely on the smaller diameter section of the pair of rollers. The sloped sections of the rollers engage the sides of a strip as the strip veers away from the center line resisting lateral movement of the strip and cambering.

    Abstract: An easily adjustable and automatically aligning pinch roller assembly for use in a graphics plotter. A movable carriage hangs from a supplemental inverted T-shaped track below the main carriage track of the plotter. The pinch roller is pivotally attached to an arm from the carriage. A leaf spring on the carriage pulls the carriage loosely into positional alignment with the pinch roller aligned with the drum while allowing translational movement easily. A second bias spring urges the pinch roller down and the carriage into gripping engagement with the supplemental track with sufficient force to prevent translational movement thereof. A release bar holds the pinch roller off the drum and releases the gripping force to allow the carriage to be slid for adjustment.

Over-center springs hold the gate in its two positions and leaf springs resiliently mount the pressure roller. Each carriage assembly carries paper guide device.

The release agent management system is designed to minimize the adverse effects caused by the sheet edges contacting the silicone rubber outer layer. To this end the system which serves to dispense silicone oil onto the surface of the silicone rubber is provided with a plurality of apertures which are strategically located such that a quantity of the oil is introduced into the silicone rubber in these areas of sheet edge contact whereby the adverse effects noted are counteracted.

The control system employed during tread formation uses a programmer having a micro-computer unit, a floppy disk and a keyboard, interfaced with a tread material application apparatus.In operation, the programmer is connected to a drive motor of the tire tread application assembly and operates under the control of a tire profile program stored in the floppy disk. Proper tread profile shape is arrived at as a function of the digital ratio between the actual position of the tire rotation and the transverse position of the tire tread applicator assembly. The latter is digitally controlled within the parameters of a preprogrammed set of commands, as a direct and sole function of the position of the tire casing about its spin axis.

    Abstract: An apparatus is described for positioning a paper web with respect to the print mechanism of a high speed printer. The apparatus includes a rod supported by the main frame of the printer and a slide tube is coaxially positionable on the rod. A pair of tractors for driving the web across the print station are carried upon the slide tube. One of the tractors is fixed to one end of the slide tube and the second tractor is positionally adjustable upon the slide tube. A clamp is provided for securing the second tractor to the slide tube after the spacing between the tractors is adjusted in relation to the width of the paper web. The slide tube is positioned to locate the type margin on the web at the desired location and a second clamp secures the slide tube to the rod.
