Abstract: An arrangement for wet processing webs of photographic paper includes a housing, a set of parallel driven shafts mounted in an upper portion of the housing, and a set of parallel driven shafts mounted in the lower portion of the housing. Each shaft carries first web-contacting rollers on its end portions and a group of second web-contacting rollers on its central portion. A band-engaging roller is arranged between each first roller and the corresponding group of second rollers. A first conveyor band is trained over the set of band-engaging rollers nearest one end of the respective shafts while a second conveyor band is trained over the set of band-engaging rollers nearest the other end of the respective shafts. The conveyor bands are provided with gripping elements which clamp webs of photographic paper entering the housing so that the conveyor bands can draw the webs through the housing.

  • Patent number: 4807790
Abstract: To feed a sheet of paper by use of a frictional force with the paper sheet, feed holes aligned in the direction of feeding at either edge of the paper sheet are detected by means of a feed hole detecting means located in a feed hole detecting position. An actual amount of paper feeding is measured by detecting the feed holes that pass through the feed hole detecting position, and then the amount by which the paper feeding means is to advance is adjusted according to the measured actual amount of paper feeding. Paper feeding can thereby be precisely controlled. Additionally, a paper feeding amount control circuit measures the initial phase difference between the position of a feed hole in a sheet of paper and the feed hole detecting position in the initial stage of paper feeding.

  • Patent number: 4590742
Abstract: A rope (21) is packed into a container (31) in such a manner as to permit easy extraction therefrom in that the rope by means of a winding head (25) is coiled with the coil center situated between the center line and periphery of the container (31). For this purpose a rope supply reel (20) is mounted on a supporting device (15) which is rotatable about a fixed vertical shaft (30). The rope (21) is pulled from the reel (20) down into the container (31) by means of the winding head (25) which is connected to the supporting device (15) for rotation with it. The winding head (25) is arranged in the space between the center line and periphery of the container, and means (30, 34-42) are provided to rotate the container (31) about its axis and at the same time axially displace the container so that layer after layer of line coils are placed upon each other.

  • Patent number: 4579268
Abstract: A dispenser for coiled sheet material which can be operated either through lever action or by a rotatable crank without modification of the dispenser. The dispenser includes a pair of cooperating feed rolls, one of which is a drive roll having a drive shaft. A gear is connected to the drive shaft through a one-way clutch mechanism and a gear segment, which is pivotally connected to the frame of the dispenser, is engaged with the gear. Connected integrally with the gear segment is a lever having a removable knob or handle which extends outwardly through the cabinet of the dispenser. By pushing downwardly on the handle the lever and gear segment will be pivoted to thereby rotate the gear and drive the feed rolls to dispense a length of sheet material. After dispensing, the lever is biased upwardly to its original position by a torsion spring.

Abstract: Strip feeding apparatus comprises a feed screw having a feeding thread on its surface. The thread is received in notches in one edge of the strip so that rotation of the screw advances the strip. Guides are provided for guiding the strip along the feed path and maintaining the strip in engagement with the thread. The thread may have a portion of each turn which causes no feeding during each revolution so that strip is fed intermittently. The feeding apparatus may be used under a wide variety of circumstances and is disclosed in conjunction with a stamping and forming or similar machine.

Abstract: A document feeding method and apparatus for frictionally (non-sprocket) feeding computer forms web having sprocket holes to the imaging station of a copier for copying, compatible with individual document sheet feeding. After automatically determining that a computer forms web rather than an individual document sheet is being frictionally fed to the imaging station the computer forms web is automatically frictionally fed incrementally in selected incremental lengths and registered to the imaging station with a controllable frictional servo-drive system without engaging the sprocket holes. A system is provided for sensing and accumulating first signals corresponding to the movement of the controllable frictional drive system, and for sensing and accumulating second signals corresponding to the number and position of sprocket holes in the computer forms web being so frictionally fed, including a system of validating sensed holes as being sprocket holes by validating hole dimensions and positions.

Abstract: A continuous web of paper has a longitudinally extending marginal part folded over onto an adjacent longitudinally extending second part of the web. The web is in tension, and the second web part has a transverse slit. During the folding step, the marginal part is folded out of the plane of the web thereby increasing the tension on the second web part. A ribbon of flexible material is disposed beneath, and conformed to the contours of, the second web part during the folding step, to absorb some of the tension on the second part so as to prevent transverse tearing from the transverse slit across the second part of the web.

Abstract: A compact welding wire feed device is provided capable of being mounted directly on a welding head carriage. The device comprises a ball bearing having an inside race with tangential entrance and exit guides to the race adjacent to opposite axial ends of the bearing. A hub member has an outside diameter less than the inside diameter of the race so that the hub member can be coaxially received in the race and a welding wire passed through the entrance guide and wrapped around the hub and out the exit guide. By now side-loading or expanding the hub against the inside of the race and driving the hub rotationally, the welding wire is continuously fed out the exit guide. The coaxial relationship of the hub and race provides for a very compact structure thereby permitting mounting of the wire feed directly on a welding head carriage adjacent to a weld head or even permitting the feed wire itself to be used as an electrode in a MIG welding system.

  • Patent number: 4220274
Abstract: The device for feeding yarn in a textile machine comprises a set of feed driving rollers rotating at a speed exceeding the maximum yarn processing speed in the machine, a first yarn brake downstream of the driving rollers, a first swing support upstream of the rollers, a second yarn brake and a second swing support. Each swing support includes a movable member exerting by its weight a tension against the yarn which causes the latter to engage frictionally the driving rollers. The frictional force exceeds the force of the first yarn brake and advances the yarn about a length which is sufficient to cause the moving member of the first swing support to abut against a fixed stop member so that the tension is released from the yarn and the holding friction changes to a sliding friction which is lower than the braking force of the first brake and thus stops the decoiling of the yarn.
