  • Patent number: 8066175
Abstract: A container for food, such as used for the storage or packaging of tostadas, manufactured as a carton, which is formed with eight sections or sides that are joined by adhesive at an edge to fold the container is disclosed. The container also has edges placed on the top and bottom ends that, when interwoven towards the center of the container, permit the formation of a kind of bow with which the container is kept closed. In order to open the container, it is only necessary to pull outwards on opening projections which are part of the bow. Likewise, and as a consequence of the interweaving of the edges, an internal pulling acts as a muffling, thereby helping the food, e.g., tostadas, to be maintained in a good state, without being broken.

  • Patent number: 6364200
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard bulk box has opposed pairs of parallel side walls, and in a preferred embodiment, has interposed diagonal corner panels to form an octagonal box. The bottom of the box is closed by opposed pairs of interlocking major and minor bottom flaps, wherein one pair of flaps have notches in their free edges and the other pair of flaps have T-shaped locking tabs in their free edges. The notches form a central opening in the bottom when the flaps are folded closed, and the locking tabs are pushed through the opening to lock the flaps closed. Aligning tabs project outwardly from opposite side edges of one pair of opposed bottom flaps, and complemental slots are formed at the folding connection of another pair of bottom flaps, so that when the flaps are folded inwardly toward one another, the tabs extend into the slots to square the box and hold it square.

The surface of the material (2) is divided by the inner folds (3) between a bottom (4) corresponding to the bottom of cake and a sidewall (5) contacting the bottom (4). Inner folds (6) and outer folds (7) are defined on the surface of the sidewall (5). A container body (1) is shaped like a cup by the inner folds (3, 6) and the outer folds (7). The sidewall is divided into a plurality of bent pieces (8, 9, 10) by the folds (6, 7). A step portion (13) intersecting the inner folds (6) and outer folds (7) to form a difference in level is defined at each bent piece (8, 9, 10). When a restoring force of the material (2) is applied to the inner folds (6) and the outer folds (7), each fold (6, 7) is about to unfold. However, each fold (6, 7) is prevented from unfolding by the step portion (13) as resistance.

  • Patent number: 5104035
Abstract: A carton having a tubular body with a pair of opposed sidewalls and a pair of opposed endwalls, with end panels and side panels for a closure extending therefrom. At least one end panel is hinged to an endwall and has a free edge defining a pair of spaced notches with a retention flap therebetween, thereby forming a pair of locking tabs, one at each free corner of the end panel. At least one hinged tab is struck out from each side panel. The hinged tab includes a tab hinge line and a double-ended severing line extending to spaced apart portions of the tab hinge line so as to form a tab which is swingable out of the plane of the side panel, thereby exposing a locking edge of the side panel formed by the severing line. The locking tabs of the end panel deflect the hinge tabs into the interior of the carton to form recesses in the side panels into which the locking tabs are inserted so that the locking edge of the tab engages the locking edge of the side panel.
