  • Patent number: 6027013
Abstract: A slash jacket for holding an article on the front cover is provided, where the article is held in a retaining pocket in a lower portion of the front cover. The retaining pocket is formed by a single cut on the front cover and communicates to the inside of the slash jacket. The retaining pocket is formed by a simple cutting process step at the time of manufacturing the form from which the slash jacket is fabricated. The slash jacket may also include a retaining tab on the front cover for retaining the article held in the pocket. The pocket is preferably cut so as to prevent the upper lip of the first cut from catching on any portion of the object inserted therein. Additional features of the slash jacket include an index tab along the side of the slash jacket, and tick marks to secure the die cut flaps forming the pocket and securing tab. The upper portion of the front cover may be cut to be parallel with the top edge of the back cover, so as to expose a greater portion of any documents contained therein.

  • Patent number: 6003758
Abstract: A dual pocket envelope according to the present invention includes a first blank having first, second and third panels, a fourth panel is glued in an overlying relation to the second panel along a generally U-shaped adhesive line to form a first pocket. The third panel is folded over the fourth panel and glued to the panel along respective side edges to provide a second pocket. The first panel includes a closure flap with adhesive coating. Each of the openings of the first and second pockets are disposed in a staggered or cascade relation so that when the closure flap is folded onto the pocket openings, the adhesive separately seals each of the pockets.

Abstract: A folder for holding objects therein having two pockets. An expandable bottom bellows adjoins front and back panels along their respective bottom edges. A divider panel is disposed within the folder between the front and back panels separating the folder into two pockets. A pair of expandable side bellows permitting along with the bottom bellows expansion of the folder to accept objects within the pockets. The divider panel is initially attached to the front panel along their respective top edges. The divider is folded within the folder and adhered to the bottom bellows along its bottom edge. The joint between the front panel and divider panel is then broken along their top edges allowing the divider panel to float freely between the front and back panels.

  • Patent number: 5890774
Abstract: The present invention provides a new customizable folio system that is useful for presenting selectable optical characteristics to one face of a folio cover. The selectable optical characteristics are presented at one face of the folio cover as the result of selective replacement of insert sheet(s) that are placed into a pocket formed between the outer folio cover sheet and an inner backing sheet. Either the outer front face of the folio cover, or the inner backing sheet has at least one cutout section(s) therein, of any desired shape or design, through which selective part(s) of the insert sheet(s) can be viewed. The insert sheet(s) have optical characteristic(s) that are different from those of either the outer front face of the folio cover or the inner backing sheet, at least in those areas of the insert sheet that can be seen through the cutout section(s).

  • Patent number: 5873513
Abstract: A folio is comprised of a sheet of flat, expansive panel stock having a backing region and a document retention region that is folded about a laterally-extending fold or folds against the backing region. The sheet is also folded longitudinally perpendicular to the laterally-extending fold in articulated fashion to define a plurality of panels or leaves. Specifically, the longitudinal folds form a pair of mutually-adjacent interior panels and a pair of side panels. A separate one of the side panels is joined to each of the interior panels by longitudinal side panel delineating folds. Each of the side panels has one bound edge and one unbound edge. The bound edges of the side panels are secured to each other, preferably by means of transition webs that are defined between the side panels and the interior panels. The folio may include a jacket within which the sheet of folded stock forming the interior panels and side panels is encompassed.

  • Patent number: 5851069
Abstract: A multiple compartment bag comprises a backing sheet and a cover sheet forming a first compartment open at its top end. A second compartment, usually shorter, is formed by a compartment forming sheet and a closure sheet overlying the cover sheet and one another, these smaller sheets being sealed at their edges to the edges of the two larger sheets to maximize the width of the compartment. The second compartment opening is labyrinthine, formed by the overlap between the compartment forming sheet top portion and the overlying closure sheet bottom portion. The length of the overlap is at least 30% of the total length of the second compartment, as compared to 10% in a prior proposal, and preferably is not more than 70%, thus ensuring safe retention of a bulky article in the second compartment while providing for ease of its insertion and its subsequent easy removal by the recipient.

  • Patent number: 5806754
Abstract: A folder for holding objects therein having two independently expandable pockets. A bottom end adjoins front and back panels along their respective bottom edges. A divider panel is disposed within the folder between the front and back panels separating the folder into two pockets. Each pocket includes a pair of expandable side panels permitting expansion of each pocket independent of the other. The bottom end is expandable between the front and back panels equal to the total combined expansion of the expandable sides of the two pockets. An open bottom corner is disposed between the bottom end and the expandable sides on each edge of the folder. The open comers permit free expansion of the expandable sides without interference from the bottom end. The bottom edge of the divider panel extends downward less than the front and back panels so that it does not interfere with full expansion of the bottom end.
