Abstract: In a handheld scanning device, a support frame configured to physically support an indicia scanning engine configured to scan and interpret an indicia and a light pipe within a casing of a scanning device. The light pipe extends along and flush against a surface of a planar portion of the support frame. Multiple ribs of elongate shape are formed integrally with the planar portion. A plurality of the ribs of the multiple ribs each define a gap in the elongate shape through which the light pipe may extend. The support frame may support the indicia scanning engine and the light pipe in predetermined relative positions to cause a central projection axis along which light is projected from an outlet end of the light pipe to extend in parallel with a central scanning axis extending from a front end of the indicia scanning engine, and toward a surface that carries the indicia.

  • Patent number: 10191189
Abstract: A wide angle optical lens, an optical lens unit, and an imaging device are small-sized and can secure an attachment space even when space is limited, and can avoid adhesion peeling or the extrusion of an adhesive. Optical lens (10) has a lens frame receiving surface (2a) on the side of first optical surface (S1) having a smaller optical surface diameter than second optical surface (S2), and is further provided with an adhesion space forming surface (3a) on the surrounding side of the lens frame receiving surface (2a). Therefore, it is possible to suppress adhesion peeling even when a smaller size is requested. Furthermore, by securing a larger size for lens frame receiving surface (2a), it is possible to suppress leakage or extrusion of adhesive from lens frame receiving surface (2a) and thus adherence to first optical surface (S1).

  • Patent number: 10158777
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a memory, a correction circuit, and a calculation circuit. The memory stores image data of an original image that is moved in a sub-scanning direction with respect to an image sensor. The correction circuit sequentially reads the image data from the memory line by line in the main scanning direction, extracts a pixel in a position corresponding to the inclination, and forms an inclination-corrected line in the main scanning direction to correct the inclination. The calculation circuit calculates an amount of movement of a corner of the original image with respect to the sub-scanning direction before and after correction of inclination of the original image with respect to a main scanning direction. The correction circuit restricts progress of formation of the inclination-corrected line based on the amount of movement. The amount of movement is applied when the inclination of the original image is corrected.

Abstract: This invention proposes a per-piece unique optical randomness on security labels that enables a unique color profiling. Verification of Color-profiling is fully automated. Color profiling is captured under a light homogenizer. Color profiling starts at certain intersection point (within security label) of line joining reference circle to centre of security label. To detect duplication, multiple color-profiles are acquired with scanner flash light switched-on & switched-off. Even if same label is reapplied after tampering the asset the color profiling gets auto changed and can be automatically verified. Color profiling based security is layered on fundamental layer of spatial orientation. Also optically variable region can be leveraged to quickly verify if label is original without matching with stored color profile in cloud during registration scan.

Abstract: A shipment container may be designed to provide information similar to retail packaging on the inside surfaces of the shipment container while providing customizable exterior surfaces. The interior surfaces may include content, graphics, text, and/or other information related to the contents of the shipment container. Initially, the exterior surfaces of the shipment container may be left primarily blank in anticipation of a later printing of customized graphics for a customer by a merchant or fulfillment center (FC) that prepares the shipment container for shipment to a customer. During processing of the shipment container, the merchant or FC may analyze the shipment container (e.g., size, shape, etc.) and the order of the item to determine custom graphics to print on the shipment container. The custom graphics may be selected in real-time or near real-time to enable up-to-date information, such as advertisements, notifications, and messages.

Abstract: A head-mounted display (HMD) for an augmented reality system allows a user to view an augmented scene comprising a real-world portion of a live scene combined with virtual images overlaying an infrared (IR) portion of the live scene. The HMD includes a head-wearable frame, a lens defining a user field of view (FOV), and a camera. The lens permits the user to view a live scene corresponding to the user FOV, and the camera is configured to capture a captured image of the live scene containing data indicative of an infrared (IR) portion of the live scene. The IR portion of the live scene includes reflected IR light above a predetermined threshold, such as an IR reflective background surface in a simulation environment. Based on the IR portion, a virtual image is displayed on an interior surface of the lens so that the virtual image overlays the IR portion.

  • Patent number: 9950344
Abstract: An apparatus receives data from at least one detection device which regularly detects single items on a sorting surface of a conveying system. Here, a separately actuatable drive element is assigned in each case to a plurality of partial surfaces of the sorting surface. The device regularly determines a region on the sorting surface taken up by the respective single item on the basis of the obtained data by means of triangulations for as long as the single item is situated on the sorting surface. The device determines control commands for actuating the drive elements, which are assigned to a partial surface and correspond to a specific region on the sorting surface taken up by the respective single item, on the basis of a destination at the sorting surface provided for the respective single item. Then, the device actuates the drive elements with the determined control commands.
