    Abstract: A hand held device (10) for measuring automatically the Hormonal Quotient and correlated hormonal status of an individual, providing a measure of index finger for ring finger. The device (10) includes a base (30) upon which a concentrically arranged disc (40) is rotatable mounted by a central fastener (11). The base (30) carries a ruler face (32), a first finger-length logarithm scale (36), a Hormonal Quotient logarithm scale (38) and an arrow indicator of the gonadal hormone exposure index (39). The disc (40) carries a second finger-length logarithm scale (42) and the Hormonal Quotient arrow (44). When scales (42) and (36) are properly aligned the Hormonal Quotient arrow (44) inserts automatically into the resulting Hormonal Quotient in the Hormonal Quotient scale (38) and the correlated gonadal hormone exposure (39).

    Abstract: Disclosed is a manually operable calculator for determining a fourth value on the basis of three variables. According to one example, the calculator is used to determine the total storage available for a recording medium consisting of several units, such as hard disks or magneto optical disks. Specifically, values for total storage are displayed in response to inputting the capacity of each disk, the number of disks and the data recording rate. According to the invention, the calculator comprises a slide member upon which two rotating wheels are mounted along a common axis of rotation. The slide and wheels each have indicia corresponding to the three variables printed thereon. The indicia on the wheels is selected by rotation while the indicia on the slide is selected by moving the slide within a sleeve having openings formed therein.

    Abstract: The amount of recording time remaining on a partially recorded videotape cassette (11) is measured by fixing the position of a body member (17, 117) relative to the hub (14) of a cassette reel, and moving a pointer (24, 120) to point to the outermost layer (33) of tape (12) wrapped around the hub (14). Movement of the pointer relative to the body member causes corresponding movement of an index (38, 145) relative to a time scale (39, 125), so that the remaining time can be read off the scale. The pointer is coupled so that small movement of the pointer relative to the body member, causes large movement of the index relative to the scale. In one embodiment, a transparent disc pointer (17) is coaxially attached to a transparent disc body member (24).

The annular member may include an offset peripheral portion that is nested between with the three arms.
