Patent number: 5685829Abstract: A hydro-therapy device for use with home or club showers and physical therapist which consists of a flexible hose to connect to a diverter valve that is in turn connected to a water source. A shower head of choice is also connected to the diverter valve so that the user mat select a regular shower or a hydro-therapy treatment to a selected portion of his body. The control nozzle of the present invention is connected to the other end of the flexible hose. The control nozzle is what creates the hydro-therapy high pressure single stream of water. The user simply places the diverter valve in the hydro-therapy position, points the control valve at that part of the body that he wishes to treat and slide the on/off switch to the on position and the treatment begins.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Inventor: Winston E. Patent number: 5634220Abstract: A double-functional faucet structure including a water discharging tube communicated with a water supplying opening of a water supplying tube and a stepped hollow cylindrical valve shaft fitted in the water supplying opening. The interior of the water discharging tube is divided into a small passage and a large passage and the valve shaft is formed with a first water inlet and a second water inlet which are respectively communicated with the small and large passages of the water discharging tube. A switch handle is operated to alternatively discharge the water from the small passage at a reduced amount or from the large passage at a normal amount. A nozzle is disposed in a free end of the small passage, making the water flow out therefrom in a fog pattern.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Inventor: Hung-Li Chiu

Patent number: 5577664Abstract: A shower head includes a housing enclosing a first rotary valve member driven by a turbine wheel and gear reducer for cycling the flow rate through the housing between high and low flow rates, and a manually rotatable cross valve shaft provides for selecting the degree of cycling. A second rotary valve member is combined with a second turbine wheel for pulsating the cycling flow rate, and further rotation of the valve shaft provides for hydraulically shifting and stopping the second valve member for bypassing the pulsation to provide a full continuous water flow. Water is discharged from the shower head through flexible tubes arranged in groups which are twisted in response to rotation of a control ring for selecting a spray pattern between a tight penetrating pattern and a wide full pattern.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Inventor: Charles J. Heitzman

Patent number: 5518181Abstract: A pulsating shower head that employs a rotor for effecting the discharge of a variable pulsating spray, a variable continuous spray, or a combination of both comprising an upper body housing, a rotatable lower body housing, a stationary stem housing affixed to the upper body housing, an O-ring retainer affixed to the stem housing, and a stem--rotor housing assembly that moves axially when the lower body housing is rotated. An O-ring affixed to the stem acts in conjunction with the O-ring retainer to open and close a water channel leading to a pulse chamber. At the same time, O-rings affixed to the stem housing act in conjunction with the rotor housing to open and close a water channel leading to a continuous spray chamber. Rotation of the lower body housing results in either a continuous spray, pulse spray, or combination continuous and pulse spray. The shower head may be incorporated into either a wall mounted unit or a hand held unit.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1994Date of Patent: May 21, 1996Inventors: Sidney J. Shames, Harold Shames

Patent number: 5499767Abstract: An improved shower head having an elongated, rigid arm with a shower nozzle at one end of the arm and with the other end of the arm acting as a handle adapted to be grasped by the user. The arm is mounted, near its one end, by a swivel joint onto a shower pipe. The arm can be grasped by its handle end to move it about the swivel joint to position the shower nozzle. A control valve can be mounted on the arm to control the flow of water from the shower pipe to the shower nozzle. A second shower nozzle can be mounted on the other end of the handle and the control valve can control the flow of water to either the nozzle or to both simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1994Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Inventor: Michel Morand

Patent number: 5398872Abstract: A multifunction showerhead or hand held showerhead assembly, capable of providing a series of water spray effects. The primary components of the showerhead assembly are a fluid directing valve assembly which includes a pair of generally cup shaped members co-axially mounted with opposing end faces proximate to one another. One of the generally cup shaped members has a bottom surface defining a plurality of fluid flow passageways. When the second member is rotated in opposing relationship to the base of the first member, the fluid flow passageways direct the fluid flow from an orifice in the first member to a pair of outlet passages, or alternatively to a sealed chamber.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1993Date of Patent: March 21, 1995Assignee: Interbath, Inc.Inventor: Raymond Joubran

Patent number: 5213267Abstract: A shower has a housing defining an axis, a conduit in the housing normally supplied with water under pressure and having an axially forwardly open outlet end, and a shower head having an axially rearwardly directed face axially confronting the outlet end and rotatable on the housing about the axis. The shower head is provided with at least two sets of axially forwardly directed spray nozzles and is formed with respective axially rearwardly open passages connected to the sets of nozzles. A seal disk extending across the axis between the outlet end and the rear face of the shower head is formed with an axially throughgoing hole and is fixed in the housing against rotation about the axis while being limitedly axially movable in the housing. An elastically compressible seal ring engaged axially between the outlet end of the conduit and the seal disk around the seal-disk hole presses the seal disk axially forward against the rear face of the shower head.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1992Date of Patent: May 25, 1993Assignee: Friedrich Grohe AktiengesellschaftInventors: Bruno Heimann, Bernd Bischoff
