  • Patent number: 9877442
Abstract: An irrigation emitter and drip line, and methods relating to same, are provided for reducing the flow and pressure of fluid via an emitter or plurality of emitters defined by two concentric tubes. In one form, the first tube defines an emitter inlet and connected pressure-reducing flow channel and the second tube is extruded over the first tube to enclose the emitter inlet and flow channel and defines an outlet connected to an end of the flow channel opposite the inlet to create an emitter for converting fluid flowing at a high flow rate in the lumen and at the first end of the inlet to a fluid with a low flow rate at the outlet of the emitter. In another form, a drip line is provided having a plurality of such emitters. Various other forms and methods relating to the emitter and drip line are also disclosed.

Abstract: A flat type pressure regulated drip emitter with a non-drain valve capabilities that is installable inside a water supply conduit during the conduit manufacturing process and characterized by that the emitter's non-drain valve function is executed independently and separately from its pressure regulation function, through a portion of the emitter's elastomer component that is strained and biased against the emitter's water inlet opening and is moveable towards and away from an additional opening (additional to the emitter's water outlet opening), exposed to the pressure prevailing in the emitter's water exit pool and therefore, at any given time, this portion of the elastomer component is exposed to the maximum differential pressure that prevails in the system—on its one side to the water pressure prevailing in the water supply conduit and on its other (second) side—to the approximate atmospheric pressure.

Abstract: A drip emitter is described herein that is advantageously configured to allow large grit to pass through the drip emitter when in use. The drip emitter includes a housing containing a flow path extending between a water inlet and a water outlet, a pressure-reducing segment, such as a torturous path, of the flow path downstream of the inlet and upstream of the outlet, and a dynamic pressure regulator downstream of the water inlet and upstream of the pressure-reducing segment of the flow path. The dynamic pressure regulator is configured such that a decrease in pressure in the pressure-reducing segment of the flow path causes the dynamic pressure regulator to adjust to maintain a generally constant rate of flow through the water inlet as compared to the rate of flow when there is no decrease in pressure in the pressure-reducing segment of the flow path.

Abstract: A drip emitter is provided for delivering irrigation water from a supply tube to an emitter outlet at a reduced and relatively constant flow rate. Water enters the emitter through a first inlet and proceeds into a first chamber. When the water pressure is above a predetermined level, a one-directional valve opens to allow fluid flow past the first chamber, through a tortuous path flow channel, and through an emitter outlet. A second inlet is used to compensate for water pressure fluctuations in the supply tube to maintain output flow at a relatively constant rate. Water enters the second inlet and presses a flexible diaphragm toward a water metering surface to provide pressure-dependent control of the output flow. A copper member is mounted to the emitter over the emitter outlet to prevent plant root intrusion into the emitter outlet.
