The conduit side wall defines a fluid passage extending between the open first and second ends. A spray nozzle with a fluid-expulsion bore is connected to the second conduit end such that it can pivot about a nozzle-pivot axis that extends orthogonally to the conduit axis and such that fluid introduced into the first conduit end is expelled through the fluid-expulsion bore. A nozzle actuator is attached to the conduit for bi-directional rotation about an actuator-rotation axis having a component of spatial extension perpendicular to the conduit axis. The nozzle actuator and nozzle are mechanically linked so that rotation of the actuator causes the nozzle to pivot with respect to the conduit axis. A spray-angle selector rotates in tandem with the nozzle actuator and includes an angle-selection surface.

Abstract: The present invention extends to a center feed system that allows residual byproduct to be injected into a vessel from within the center of the vessel. The center feed system can include an inlet sleeve that is attached to the vessel and a retractable injection nozzle that extends into the vessel to inject residual byproduct into the vessel and that retracts into the inlet sleeve after injecting the residual byproduct. A retractable injection nozzle in accordance with one or more embodiments of the invention may include one or more openings that each includes an insert that can be removed from the opening. The inserts can therefore be replaced to customize the functionality of the nozzle or to replace the inserts when they have become worn.

Abstract: A cam actuated fuel injector is assembled by engaging an internal thread of a tappet with an external thread of an injector body. The tappet is then rotated with respect to the injector body about a centerline until the internal thread disengages the external thread so that the tappet is then slidable along the centerline. The tappet is biased toward a pre-installation position in which the external thread contacts the internal thread. After installation, the respective internal and external threads guide the sliding movement interaction between the tappet and the injector body when the fuel injector is operational.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an articulated nozzle system comprising a nozzle cap for directing water exiting the nozzle cap, wherein the water exiting the nozzle cap has an average flow direction away from a nozzle cap base plane. The articulated nozzle system further comprises a nozzle cap driver for orienting the nozzle cap about a central pivot point to adjustably define the average flow direction, wherein the nozzle cap driver is linked to the nozzle cap. The nozzle cap driver can be moved along a plane, referred to as a driver support plane, by a drive module. Changing the location of nozzle cap driver along the driver support plane can change the orientation of the nozzle cap about the central pivot to adjust the average flow direction of the water exiting the nozzle cap.

Abstract: An adjustable fuel nozzle assembly [1000] for spraying fuel into a recovery boiler [13] includes at least two fuel nozzle assemblies [1100, 1300]. An adjustment section [1500] adapted to adjust the relative orientation between the nozzle assemblies [1100, 1300] and hold them at the desired orientation relative to each other to create a desired spray pattern. The adjustment section [1500] also adapted to simultaneously aim several fuel nozzles at a target location, retaining their relative orientation between the nozzle assemblies [1100, 1300]. This allows the nozzle assemblies [1100, 1300] to spray fuel with a desired spray pattern to a desired location to properly control combustion of the recovery boiler [13], thereby increasing stability of combustion minimizing the creation of pollutants such as NOx gases.
