Abstract: A breathing filter assembly for filtering breathing air includes a breathing unit that includes a mouthpiece that can be placed in a user's mouth. The breathing unit includes a pair of nose tubes that can each be positioned in a respective one of the user's nostrils when the mouthpiece is positioned in the user's mouth. A filter is removably insertable into the breathing unit. The filter is made of an air permeable material to pass air therethrough for breathing. The filter extends into the mouthpiece and each of the nose tubes to filter air inhaled through the user's mouth or the user's nose.

Abstract: A hand weapon that appears to be an innocuous key carrying device is employed for self-defense. In a first preferred embodiment, the device includes a hollow handle having flexible cordage, typically a double cord, that passes through it to which a number of keys or other weighted objects are affixed via an attachment mechanism, usually a split-ring or similar mechanism. A spring-loaded plunger mechanism extending radially through a cross-section of the hollow handle pinches a portion of the flexible cordage in the interior of the hollow handle to hold it in position. A first position is where the attachment mechanism abuts a first end of the hollow handle. If an attacker threatens, the user depresses the spring-loaded plunger mechanism while slinging the first end with weighted objects affixed, typically keys, toward the attacker using a slashing movement.

Abstract: A decorative button cover assembly for trousers and other types of clothing to be worn as a fashion accessory. The assembly includes an elongated slider bar that establishes a constrained path configured to guide a button captive back-and-forth. A snare is attached to one end of the slider bar and a bracket to the other end, and has an aperture configured to receive and then trap the head of the button. The aperture is bounded on one side by an interior stopper edge. The bracket has a standoff portion and a mounting portion. A decorative cover is supported from the mounting portion of the bracket and spaced from the slider bar. In use, the assembly is inextricably trapped between under- and over-flap sections of the trousers, and yet the decorative cover is moveable toward and away from a position directly overlying the button head.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for carrying and storing a portion of rope is claimed. A portion of rope is braided and wound about two complementary loops. Attached to one complementary loop is a flexible fastener. The flexible fastener can be passed through the second complementary loop and attached to itself. The apparatus can then be worn as a bracelet. When the rope is needed, the person can unwind the rope. After using the rope, the rope can be rewound and then bound with the flexible fastener.

Abstract: A releasable fastener system includes a first base material and a second base material being fastened together when the fastener system is in a fastened state and released from one another when the fastener system is in a released state. The fastener system further includes a stiffening member fastened to the second base material. A bottom loop is spaced from the first base material such that at least a portion of the stiffening member resides between the bottom loop and the first base material when the fastener system is in the fastened state. A top loop being spaced from the bottom loop such that a portion of the second base material resides between the top and bottom loops when the system is in the fastened state, wherein at least one of the top and bottom loops is fastened to the first base material.

Abstract: Provided is a band for holding a fluid detection system on a body of a wearer and methods of use thereof. The band comprises a strap having a first portion and a second portion. The second portion is configured to couple to the first portion and to form a closed loop adjustable in diameter to fit around a body part of the wearer. The band further comprises a pouch configured to securely hold an alarm of the fluid detection system, and a flap configured to form a closed loop adjustable in diameter to fit the size of the alarm. The flap may include one or more openings to provide audibility and visibility of a signal produced by the alarm. The band may be securely attached to any body part including an arm, a hand, a waist, a head, a leg, a foot, a wrist, a trunk, a neck, or a chest.

Abstract: An inventive device to aid mobility-limited users of gasoline-powered handheld tools while crank-starting of same is disclosed. In particular, the invention is a tethering device to prevent a tool such as a chainsaw from jumping or kicking back when crank-started by an operator with limited bodily mobility, particularly of the back, preventing placing of the tool on the ground for crank-starting. The inventive tethering device allows the operator to remain upright while safely cranking the on-board engine. The inventive device comprises an elongated tether member having first and second ends, a foot placement member for placement of the operator's foot to secure the device and restrain its movement, affixed to the first end and an attachment means for attaching the tether to a chainsaw, affixed to the second end of the elongated tether member.

In one aspect, the apparatus comprises a housing, a plug connected to the housing to insert into an electrical socket to receive power, a bracket connected to the housing and having an opening to receive a locking cable while the opening of the bracket protrudes from the housing. A switch, within the housing, responsive to protrusion of the opening of the bracket from the housing to receive the locking cable. An electrical circuitry, within the housing, responsive to the switch being in a first state, and absence of power at the plug to sound an alarm, and responsive to the switch being in a second state or the presence of power at the plug to prevent sounding of the alarm.

The apparatus also include an extension which has loop portions at each end which is attached at one end to the goalie skate and then has its other loop portion connected to the hook portion of the toe hook to attach the goalie leg pad to the goalie skate.

There is, further, a clasp member for securing the second end of the elongated member to the clip member.

At least one engagement point located on a second piece of athletic wear is capable of reversibly engaging a portion of the connector. When the locking point coupler is mated to the locking point, the connector and engagement point hold the first and second pieces of athletic wear towards one another.
