  • Publication number: 20120222273
Abstract: A cam-actuated connection device joins rail mounting members of a photovoltaic panel array. The connection device slides within channels of mounting members until the members are in a properly positioned grid. When in position, the connection device is rotated to lock the mounting members in a rigid grid network. The connecting device can be subsequently loosened, repositioned and locked into position. The rail-mounting members create a grid for installation of multiple PV panels. The mounting rail allows the unit to remain relatively compact in nature but still covers a wide range of PV panel thicknesses. The rail system has a hinged connection with the mounting rail that allows an installer to assemble the module in a near perpendicular fashion to the mounting rail, make the required electrical connections and then lower the PV module into its working position. The unit is then locked into its working position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a clip used in connecting between a wiper blade and a wiper arm of a vehicle that can eliminate the generation of a gap which used to be present when assembling a wiper arm and conventional type of clips. The clip of the present invention, when installed into the main shaft of a wiper blade so that it can wrap around a wiper arm, can not only prevent the generation of a gap between a wiper arm and the clip, but also eliminate the trembling phenomenon of a wiper arm and the resulting noise that used to occur in the conventional type of clips during the normal operation.

  • Patent number: 6058579
Abstract: A snap latch device has a handle with a pair of cam members extending from a lower end. The device also has a flexible snap which protrudes from the handle. The front end of the snap has a barbed lip. The device is designed to interlock a shuttle assembly to a stationary chassis. The device is pivotally mounted to the shuttle which carries a board with connectors. The device is movable between an engaged position and a retracted position. In the engaged position, the cam members engage an end wall on the chassis and the snap inserts through and engages a hole in the shuttle. The mechanical interlock between the cam members and the end wall rigidly secures the shuttle in the chassis. The device is moved to the retracted position by pulling back on the snap to dislodge the barbed lip. This release allows the device to rotate so that the cam members disengage the end wall. After the snap and cam members are clear of the hole and end wall, respectively, the shuttle may be completely removed from the chassis.

  • Patent number: 5964440
Abstract: Apparatus for clamping a device to a work surface. A cam actuated, adjustable clamp provides a connection between the device and the work surface. The clamp includes a handle and a lever pivotally coupled to a housing member; a hand rotated threaded bolt in the end of the lever is used to adjust the position of a shoe to accommodate work surfaces of different thicknesses. The handle and lever pivot about bearings on two rods. Connectors extend between the two rods and they are coupled to the housing member. Cams on the handle ride on a surface of the lever as the handle is moved, applying a force to the lever that controls its position relative the underside of the work surface. The clamp is engaged/disengaged by a single movement (approximately 90 degrees of rotation) of the handle. A spring or linkage may be provided to bias the lever away from the work surface when the clamp is in the open (disengaged) position.

  • Patent number: 5870804
Abstract: An apparatus for clamping a generally cylindrical workpiece includes a band clamp and a clamp compressor. The band clamp is generally C-shaped and includes first and second ends. A sleeve is attached to the first end and receives a threaded shaft of a bolt. A head of the bolt is retained by the second end of the clamp end. A nut engages the threaded shaft of the bolt. The clamp compressor includes a main body portion and a locating portion extending from the main body portion which is adapted to releasably engage the first end of the band clamp. The locating portion is further operative to establish a fixed vertical position of the clamp compressor relative to the band clamp. The clamp compressor further includes a drive element interconnected to the main body portion which is adapted to releasably engage the second end of the band clamp. The drive element is adjustable so as to urge the first and second ends of the band clamp together when rotated in a first direction.

  • Patent number: 5860196
Abstract: A device for reducing stress on a grommet of a flexible covering including a stress distributing member with a recess formed in the outer surface thereof and a connecting loop mounted on the member at the recess and extending outwardly therefrom. The stress distributing member forms a bar for reducing stress on an end or side grommet or forms a semi-circular wedge for reducing stress on a corner grommet. The recess is sized for receipt of a grommet therein and presents a rounded surface at its perimeter to prevent the grommet from becoming pinched or collapsing. The loop receives the securing rope or other tie therethrough. The force on the loop is distributed by the bar or wedge over an extended portion of the flexible covering. A combination of bar and wedge stress distributing members form a system for reducing stress on the plurality of grommets within a flexible covering.

  • Patent number: 5826310
Abstract: A bar clamp apparatus having a pair of opposing clamp jaws, with one of the clamp jaws slidably joined to a handle member. The handle member and attached clamp jaw are slidably mounted on a bar. The clamp jaw attached to the handle member includes a pin which slidably engages a pair of corresponding slots or tracks in the handle member, to allow the clamp jaw to slidably move relative to the handle member. A knob has an attached threaded screw which passes through a threaded bore in the handle member with the end of the screw contacting the clamp jaw on the handle member. Rotation of the knob advances the screw and moves and applies pressure to the clamp jaw attached to the handle member. A workpiece is positioned between the clamp jaws, and the first clamp jaw is moved towards the second clamp jaw by rotating the knob to advance the screw thereby holding the workpiece between the clamp jaws.

The locking member has a closed, elongated slot to retain the locking member on the cam pin. The locking member may be pivoted outwardly on the pin to project normal to the clamping plate, which has an aligned bore allowing removal of the clamp plate for installation of a flexible skirt. The cam pin is carried on a clamping body that has a narrow waist that is slidably mounted between a pair of opposed retaining flanges on the channel to adjust the position of the clamping plate relative to the conveyor skirt plate.
