Threaded Cylindrical Rod And Mating Cavity Patents (Class 24/525)
  • Patent number: 5074012
Abstract: A self-locking clamp has a handle which locks to a non-rotating member if the handle starts to turn while in clamping use. The clamp has a retractable collar which is splined to the handle and is biased toward locking engagement with a sleeve that in turn seats against the member to be clamped. The collar can be held retracted from the sleeve for tightening and loosening the clamp.

  • Patent number: 5071013
Abstract: A four directional self-aligning wedge clamp having a series of wedge elements is shown. A rod is centrally disposed through the series of elements of exert longitudinal forces thereto. A bracket pair is urged against the body of the device to be clamped while transverse forces are urged upon the wedge elements when the clamp is in its expanded state. When in its relaxed state, the clamp may be easily removed from the channels in which it is to be secured.

  • Patent number: 5052793
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for rapidly attaching glass to a metal support structure without cracking the glass. The invention consists of a C clamp with a force providing screw threadably engaged through a hole in one leg of the C clamp. The force providing screw has a spindle on one end which rides in a channel in the metal support structure. A spring, Belleville washer or other energy storing device is mounted on the spindle and is compressed against the metal support structure by the spindle base when the force providing screw is tightened. The amount of force that can be applied is limited by the combination of the screw head on the force providing screw and the longer length of the channel in relation to the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4979273
Abstract: A clamp that comprises a clamp column extending upwardly from one end of a base. The clamp column has a first clamping plate at its free end. An adjustment column also extends upwardly from the base and is spaced parallel to the clamp column. The adjustment column includes a threaded section on its free end. A clamp arm is disposed in spaced parallel relationship with the base and the clamp arm includes a second clamping plate in alignment with the first clamping plate. An opening formed through the clamp arm is positioned in alignment with the adjustment column. A shaft that has a lower threaded section extends through the opening in the clamp arm to threadably engage the threaded section of the adjustment column. The shaft is selectively rotated to adjust the spacing between the first and second clamp plates. An over center cam lever has one end element pivotally attached to the top section of the extending above the clamp arm shaft and a second end element forming the hand grip.

  • Patent number: 4971038
Abstract: A surgical retractor apparatus for retracting anatomy during surgery includes a single support post connected directly to an adjustable clamp which can be attached to the rail of a surgical operating table. A butterfly assembly positioned on the clamp above the field of sterilization allows operating room personnel to fasten the clamp anywhere along the table rail without breaking the sterile field. Extension arms are connected to the support post by means of adjustable joint clamps. The threaded components of the joint clamps and adjustable clamp may be exposed for easy cleaning and lubrication but may not be completely disassembled thereby facilitating reassembly of the components. Retractor blades are adjustably connected to the extension arms by means of additional joint clamps and extend downwardly through an incision to retract anatomy to provide exposure to the operative site.

  • Patent number: 4871278
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for clamping and unclamping of components with the aid of a clamping flange, at least one of said components being clamped by the hook of said device, the clamping force being transferred via a bolt linked with the hook and a nut that can be operated from the external side. The invention provides for a device clamped and unclamped by means of a tool such as an impact wrench, the head of which need not be tilted, lifted or lowered. The aim of the invention is achieved by means of nut (5) that is arranged in a fixture and that can be turned but yet remains in a defined position, and by means of hook (10) that is linked with bolt (6) and guided with the aid of element (12) in groove (11) of fixture (5), the hook thus performing upward and downward motions and being swivelled by at least 45.degree. around its longitudinal axis for unclamping the flange.

  • Patent number: 4817251
Abstract: A fastening device for securing, for example, two pieces of fabric together comprises an outer body and an outer body secured in the outer body for rotational and axial movement relative thereto so that the inner body can move outwardly and inwardly of the outer body. The inner body carries a securing element in the form of a hook or spiral so that when the inner body is moved out of the outer body the securing element can be engaged in, say, the two pieces of fabric which, when the inner body is moved axially inwardly, are trapped between the securing element and the outer body.

  • Patent number: 4700437
Abstract: A clamp comprises a pair of pivotally connected jaws. A spring urges the jaws apart. A screw extends from the first jaw through the second jaw and projects above the second jaw. An operating lever for clamping and unclamping the jaws is screw threadedly received on the screw above the second jaw. The screw may be locked against rotation by engagement of the screw with a seat in the first jaw. With the screw locked against rotation, rotation of the lever around the screw selectively clamps and unclamps the jaws around an article. To adjust the distance of separation between the clamping surfaces of the jaws before rotation of the lever, the screw is axially shifted off its seat on the first jaw and the screw is then rotated with respect to the operating lever to adjust the height of the operating lever along the screw. Thereafter, the screw reengages the seat in the first jaw to prevent further rotation of the screw.
