Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener for joining together opposing front and rear side-parts of an absorbent article in the form of a diaper or the like, so as to form an encircling waistband. The article includes a central part having an absorbent body, and front and rear pliable side-parts which extend from respective sides of the central diaper part. The fastener is comprised of two mutually coacting first and second fastener elements, of which the first element is attached to a front side-part and the second element is attached to the rear side-part on the same side of the central part as its associated first element. According to the invention, the first fastener element or the second fastener element includes a fastening portion which projects out from the perimeter of the waistband and which can be inserted into an insertion opening in the associated second or first fastener element.

Abstract: An improved clasp assembly which can be readily detached and reconnected to one or more strand ends, the latter being configured to be passed through jewelry components being slidably mounted on the strands. One embodiment of the clasp assembly comprises a catch permanently secured to one strand end, and a housing detachably secured to the other strand end. The catch is separably received in snap engagement within the housing, and the housing includes a latch mechanism accommodating its detachment and reattachment to the other strand end without the need to employ specialized tools or to involve jewelers.

Abstract: The child seatbelt assembly is provided on-site as a single piece and includes two nylon web seatbelt portions which latch to each other by way of a releasable buckle. Both seatbelt portions are permanently affixed to strap retainers by means of sewing or attaching permanently through the seatbelt portions or through a sew-tab included as part of the strap retainers. This provides that the seatbelt portions are affixed to the strap retainers regardless of whether or not the strap retainers are in the open or closed position. This further allows the child seatbelt assembly to be provided to an installation site, such as a grocery store, as a single assembly.

Abstract: An identifier tag for identifying the owner of a beverage can having a beverage can top equipped with a lever tab with a gripping end having a gripping end tab aperture formed therein, and a securing rivet securing an affixed end of the lever tab to the beverage can top. The identifier tag includes at least one identifier tab cover that is securable to the gripping end of the lever tab and includes an identifier tab cover including a molded plastic cover member and a lever tab locking structure. The molded plastic cover member has a lever tab insertion opening formed therein in connection with a lever tab receiving cavity sized to receive the gripping end of the lever tab. An outer top surface of the cover member is provided with an erasable marking surface. The lever tab locking structure includes a resilient locking prong retraction member and a curved locking prong. The resilient locking prong retraction member includes a horizontal portion and a vertical portion.

Abstract: A two-piece handle for use in positioning a vehicle lifting jack beneath a vehicle and rotating a spindle of that jack. The two-piece jack handle includes a jack handle rod having one end for engaging the jack spindle and a sleeve secured to an opposite end. The sleeve has a cavity configured to receive in driving engagement one end of the jack handle rod extension. A clip slidably mounted on the first end of the jack handle rod extension is slidable over the coupling and releasably connectable to the jack handle rod to releasably secure the jack handle rod and jack handle rod extension in coaxial alignment.

Abstract: The present invention provides a buckle having a simple structure to increase efficiency of an assembling operation and desirable operability wherein engagements of plugs with a socket are reliably carried out. The buckle comprises a pair of plugs and a socket. Each the plug has a strap attaching portion, a tongue formed to project from the strap attaching portion to be inserted into the socket, and an engaging portion. The socket is formed with inserting portions into which the tongues are inserted respectively, and fixed engaged portions with which the engaging portions are engaged. An operating portion is formed separately from the socket between the engaged portions for displacing the engaging portions to-disengage engagements of the engaging portions with the engaged portions.

The first plate spring section has one end equipped with a locking portion and a pushing handle, while the second plate spring section has one end equipped with a spring body side wall section rising to surround the pushing handle, the spring body side wall section having curved edges curved to lower so that both side surface portions thereof continuing with its central portion has one of an arc configuration and a tapered configuration. On the other hand, the spring casing section of the connecting device body has a hollow portion to accept the spring member and has one side wall curved to lower to form an arc or tapered configuration.

Abstract: An easily attachable/detachable lid mounted container includes a container body, a lid for covering the container body, and an easy attach/detach mechanism for reliably securing the lid to the container body and for easily detaching the lid from the container body. The easy attach/detach mechanism includes: an engagement plate provided on the lid and extending toward the container body, the engagement plate being resilient and bendable; an object engagement portion, provided on the container body, for engaging, when the lid is pressed toward the container body, with the engagement plate so as to secure the lid to the container body; and separation means, provided between the engagement plate and the object engagement portion, for separating the engagement plate from the object engagement portion when the separation means is pressed toward the container body.

A locking lug extends across the free end of the bottom of the plate and protrudes below the flat surfaces of the plate. The socket portion comprises a top part and a bottom part integrally formed therewith to define a cavity for receiving the plug portion. The top part has a flexible release button integrally formed therewith, with a downwardly projecting tip. There is at least one projecting ledge disposed on the inside surface of the top part for engaging the aperture when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion. A flexible tongue is integrally formed with the bottom part and has means for engaging the locking lug when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion. Downward pressure on the release button when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion disengages the aperture from the projecting ledge.

Abstract: The present invention provides a buckle assembly which includes a first tongue, a second tongue, and a socket having a cavity for receiving at least a portion of the first tongue and second tongue. Each tongue includes a tongue coupling member which operates to register the first tongue and second tongue to be inserted into the socket simultaneously. Alternatively, the first tongue and second tongue may be inserted separately wherein the tongue coupling member allows the tongues to be slid relative to one another thereby facilitating individual insertion of the first tongue and the second tongue. In addition, the buckle assembly includes a securement member having a button on each tongue. Both the button on the first tongue and the button on the second tongue must be simultaneously actuated to eject the tongues from the socket. Further, the buckle assembly provides a first slot, a second slot, and a third slot configured to receive a corresponding belt.

Abstract: A composite buckle comprising a metal male portion that is attachable to a strap and an insertion plate having two flat surfaces, and a female portion for receiving the male portion. The female portion comprises a metal locking body that is attachable to a strap and at least two locking legs adapted to releasably lock with the insertion plate of the male portion. The male portion is inserted between the two locking legs which engage the plate on opposite surfaces of the plate. There is a plastic housing surrounding at least a portion of the metal locking body. The housing has a flexible arm adapted to separate the locking legs and release the metal locking body from the male portion. The buckle according to the invention combines the strength of a metal buckle with the light weight and attractiveness of a plastic buckle, to form a composite buckle that is suitable for a variety of uses.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for securely and releasably attaching load-bearing soft goods to a frame without requiring the use of tools for attachment and detachment is disclosed. A connection mechanism, or buckle, that is comprised of a first, male connector portion and a second, female connector portion is provided. The male connector, which is fixedly secured to the soft good, is releasably received within the female connector, which is fixedly secured to the frame, in order to releasably attach the soft good to the frame. The male connector contains a thin, rectangular attachment tab that provides for fixedly attaching the soft good to the male connector. The female connector is directly secured to the frame, such as by riveting. By fixedly securing one portion of the connection mechanism to the frame for mating with another portion, it is obvious to the user where the attachments of the soft good to the frame are to be made.

Abstract: Interlocking end members for expandable compression rings. Compression rings are formed by attaching the interlocking members to the ends of a flexible strip and coupling the interlocking members together. The interlocking members include a recess for receiving the ends of a flexible strip and a jaw structure for engagement with one another. The jaw structure includes two or more offset opposed jaw members which include angled teeth. The teeth of opposed jaw members of coupled interlocking members engage one another in a locking relationship, whereby the resulting compression ring can be expanded and locked into a range of positions.

Abstract: A buckle comprises a male member and a female member adapted to couple with each other. The male member includes a fitting projection provided on a base thereof and the female member has a fitting cavity formed at its one end for fitting engagement with the fitting projection of the male member. A tongue-shaped presser plate and the actuating levers of the female member are substantially coplanar with the front wall and the corresponding side walls respectively, of the female member, when the male and the female member are coupled with each other.

Abstract: A side release buckle having a female member with a receptacle for receiving a tongue portion of a male member. One or more openings through the male member are alignable at least partially with corresponding openings through the female member when the tongue portion of the male member is disposed in the receptacle of the female member, whereby the at least partially aligned openings of the male and female members form corresponding apertures through the side release buckle. The openings may include one or more rib members for strength. The side release buckles have, among other advantages, reduced weight without compromising strength, and are suitable for applications where it is desirable to vent the buckle, or permit underlying fabric or structure to be at least partially visible therethrough, or to accept a locking member to prevent or deter casual release of the male and female members.

Abstract: A device is provided for attaching a chin strap to a protective helmet that includes a main outer shell, and the device is of the type including a removable and disconnectable fastening device for the chin strap. The fastening device includes a fastening member for affixing to the chin strap and is engageable with a fastening lug affixed to a wall of the helmet. The fastening member is configured to include a fastening portion affixed to a pivotable gripping lever, and the pivotable gripping lever is pivotable mounted on the fastening member. Additionally, the fastening lug affixed to the helmet wall includes a matching recessed portion for receiving the fastening portion. Furthermore, the gripping lever of the fastening member is mounted and journaled about a first axis on a retaining part for a strap of the chin strap, and the recessed portion of the fastening lug is open upwardly and is limited outwardly by an outer projecting portion that provides a retaining and fastening edge.

A locking lug extends across the free end of the plate and protrudes above and below the flat surfaces of the plate. The socket portion comprises a top part and a bottom part integrally formed therewith to define a cavity for receiving the plug portion. The top part has a flexible release button integrally formed therewith, with a downwardly projecting tip. There is at least one projecting ledge disposed on the inside surface of the top part for engaging one side of the locking lug when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion. A flexible tongue is integrally formed with the bottom part and has means for engaging an opposite side of the locking lug when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion. Downward pressure on the release button when the plug portion is inserted in the socket portion disengages the locking lug from the projecting ledge.

Abstract: A child restraint system for use in a vehicle. The restraint includes a harness having a pair of webs extending over and adjacent the child's chest and through a pair of soft socks adjustable along the length of each web. The bottom of each sock includes a rigid base having a slot through which the web extends limiting twisting movement of each web. A quick disconnect connector is pivotally connected to each base allowing the webs extending through the socks to conformingly fit against the child while lateral movement of the webs is limited.

Abstract: A barrel lock with a hollow cylindrical barrel having a perforated disk attached to one end thereof, and an elongated annular insert mounted within the barrel and extending from both ends of the barrel to provide loops at each end of the barrel. Preferably one end of the insert has a shoulder to engage the disk to prevent the annular insert from passing fully through the disk and the barrel. The barrel lock includes a spring clasp that is adapted to pass through the loop at the disk end of the barrel and also to pass through the perforation in the disk into the interior of the barrel. The spring clasp also engages and locks with the edges of the disk perforation when fully inserted.

Abstract: A side release buckle having an improved locking mechanism includes a male plug member and a female socket member. The plug member has a pair of resiliently flexible arm members. Each arm member defines a generally V shaped latching surface arranged around the top, bottom and outer side of the arm member. The V shaped latching surface is adapted to engage a complimentary V shaped engagement surface in the socket member when the plug member is fully inserted into the socket member. The V shape of the latching surface allows the latching surface area to be more uniformly distributed around the top, bottom and outer side of the arm member.

Abstract: A side release buckle having a retaining strap includes a male plug member and a female socket member. The plug member has a pair of resiliently flexible arm members and a center piece. A retaining strap is disposed between each arm member and the center piece near the distal end of the male plug member. The retaining strap acts to prevent outward extension of the flexible arm members beyond a breaking point. The retaining strap also allows for minimal resistance for inward flexing of the arm members during normal operation of the buckle.

The latching mechanism comprises a first connecting member, a second connecting member, wherein the first connecting member is capable of mating, or interlocking, with the second connecting member. The first connecting member includes a receiving head having an aperture, and an arm, wherein the arm is adjacent the receiving head and the second connecting member includes a locking tongue and an arm, wherein the arm is adjacent the locking tongue. In some preferred embodiments, the first connecting member and second connecting member include a fastener element. The arm of the first connecting member and the arm of the second connecting member further includes an aperture that is capable of receiving a securing mechanism. Some preferred embodiments of the instant invention also include a button element having a stem, wherein the aperture of the receiving head of the first connecting element is capable of receiving the stem of the button.

The socket has longitudinal first and second insertion holes formed so as to communicate and confront with each other for receiving the tongues of the first and second plugs, first and second fixed engaging portions projecting in the insertion holes respectively for engagement with the respective engaging ends of the tongues of the plugs, and a release button formed between the first and second fixed engaging portions for depressing the engaging ends respectively to deform and release them from the fixed engaging portions.

The tab (28) is received in the slot (25) until the button (30) snaps up through an aperture (21) in the cover (18) of the receiver (24). The members (11, 12) are thus attached to each other but the attachment can be disengaged merely by depressing the button (30) and sliding the tab (28) out of the slot (25). The other end of the member (12) has a foldable flap (26) which can be formed into a loop (40) to engage another item, for example, a portion (39) of a golf bag.

Abstract: A quick disconnect buckle includes a female member with opposed side openings and a lateral opening and a male member with longitudinally extending arms and an intermediate bar that includes a lug that engages with the lateral opening. Camming surfaces on the arms and side openings causing the arms to cam against the bar to thereby lift the lug out of the lateral opening to free the male member from the female member.

Abstract: A rod for a construction set includes an elongate strut that extends between opposed of interconnected joint elements. A cavity in each end of the strut slidably supports a clip having opposed inwardly deflectable fingers, with outwardly facing catches at their extremities, that snap fit into the joint openings in the joint element to clamp the joint element between the catches and the ends of the rods. The clips are moveable between closed positions where the fingers are engaged in the joint elements and open positions where the fingers are located completely within the cavity to allow the rod to be removed from opposed joint elements in a structure without disturbing the structure. The struts have slots in their extremities that intersect the cavities, and the fingers have protrusions that extend through the slots to facilitate deflecting the fingers inwardly to release the clips from the joint elements and in moving the clips between their open and closed positions.

Thus, the buckle can be detached with one hand.

Abstract: The invention relates to a clamp comprising a first C-shaped jaw having first and second limbs and an interconnecting bight portion. A second jaw is mounted pivotably to the second limb, and a releasable ratchet-and-pawl arrangement is provided for locking the second jaw relative to the first jaw in a number of degrees of closure. A finger-actuable tab is provided on the pawl for releasing the pawl from the ratchet and allowing bidirectional pivoting of the second jaw. The first limb is provided with a circular aperture and the second jaw is arranged to urge material to be clamped between the first and second jaws through the cavity, so as to increase the effectiveness of clamping. The material which has passed through the cavity also serves as a cushion. The clamp is particularly suited for use as a diaper clamp.
